I'm still surprised by this even though I heard about it already. I would have thought that Index will still outsell SAO even though the latter's highly popular now. Guess the 7 month gap between volume 4 and 5 hurt quite a bit. Speaking of NT5, the translator in B-T is crazy, more than half has already been translated. Is he even human? The developments are pretty good though. IDTI, IDTI And yeah, Progressive. The reboot of the Aincrad arc. I want to read it already. Maybe I should reread Aria first. And Magi seems to be picking up in the manga sales. I'm enjoying the anime but not as much as the other shows this season. I may read it later on. |

Magi's boost is also quite evident in the manga discussion threads. Before the anime was aired, there's barely a few of peeps in the latest chapters and now the numbers has gone up, even if it's a little. I'm glad to see these sales figures, it's one of the best shounen I'd read. |

Without a doubt! ^_^ But not every anime increases the sales of the source material like SAO, Magi, Hyouka and KuroBas. Their source material got a much bigger than most. why I compared KuroBas with Magi is that its also an anime(remember, I said ANIME XD ) popular with fujoshi and its having a similar effect like Kuroko. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-10-16/magi-manga-print-circulation-doubles-in-4-months-after-anime-announcement and its only 2 episodes in. Its similar to SAO and Hyouka's popularity. |

@phoenixalia Anime, manga, either can be popular with fujoshi, but they are only part of the consumers, PART of them, You could say without them it wouldn't have sold as much as it did now, but without all the other demographics that are buying it, it wouldn't sell even half the amount it is selling currently. (I told you this before, if it's fanart you're talking about then that's something else and is irrelevant to the sales, "normal" people can't draw fanarts and aren't that obsessed with the product to attempt to draw one) and yes i heard you, i can see that capslocked "ANIME" in there, and yes i know that, fujoshi seem to crowd around anime more than manga, but...well you get the point. P,S just in case, by "fujoshi", you mean all the female fans in general or only the BL and/or Bishounen fans? And yeah, similar to SAO and Hyouka, though i'm wondering why Hyouka got a big boost in LN sales while the anime sales aren't all that big. |

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

jmal said: It's a matter of degree. Not every series gets a noticeable boost (especially if it's really obscure to begin with and the anime is unpopular) and some series get very mild boosts. Magi, clearly, is on its way to getting a very very very big boost. That's special, and noteworthy. exactly what I was trying to say. :) |

I guess that increases the chances of it being long-running? Also Magi has a pretty popular timeslot, doesn't it? I would imagine that late night series would tend to have less impact on the manga sales. Am I wrong? |
