Registration is closed!

Thanks to everyone who registered for FAL Fall 2012! This season has a total of 199 teams. Good luck everyone, may the best team win!

Listed below are the initial teams for this season. Please note that we won't edit this list as the season progresses. Instead you'll find a detailed overview of your team's status for every week later in the FAL club forum. Make sure to join and frequently check the FAL club for the newest information.

Please check the list to see if your team is correct. The titles are sorted alphabetically and the order doesn't matter but make sure that your active team and bench are correctly separated. If you spot a mistake, please report it by sending a PM to FALbot before October 5th, 23:59 UTC. We will only accept corrections if your team is different from the one you sent us. You can't swap titles if you changed your mind (not even between active team and bench).

So instead of having the most popular team (like I had last FAL), I have a completely unique team this time around. This will be interesting.

Thanks for doing all this!

Hmm, so my prediction about over 50% of teams having the same 6 shows went wrong because of Code:Breaker. Dunno, this show looks like a bad choice to me because of too many factors.

I suspected I was picking what seemed like obvious series, but having my active team literally be the five most commonly picked series? I don't know if that should make me hopeful or worry my picks weren't bold enough.

Well, good luck to the other 197 of you.

This season anime have far more unpredictability than back in Spring. Adding on to that, more points distributions as well.

Most challenging FAL season ever.

This. Teams are pretty much different except for Chuunibyou, Little Busters and Robotic;Notes. The other Anime are really distributed well. I wonder if putting TLRD in my active team is worth it :s

Can't say I disagree, but in the end I had to trust raw numbers. It'll probably turn out to be another Zetman, but even if it does it'll be strong in the first couple of weeks.

Anyway, I lacked the balls to go for an unique team again, but meh. Looking forward to this season!

Codebreaker aint going to do as good as Magi or TLR Darkness, and it has more people who picked it than those 2 combined.

Magi's @ best is FMA, @ worst Blue Exorcist, TLR Darkness is going to explode, it's the "ecchi" title of the season and waaaaaay beyond past versions.

I think Code:Breaker is going to do better than both Magi and TLRD to be honest. Especially better than TLRD. I would be surprised if TLRD makes the top 10. In my book it's 11th, with Magi being 8th and CB 7th. The only advantage TLRD has over CB is that it's gonna score some points on week 1 while CB most likely isn't. Magi isn't for sure.

If any of the "lesser" anime is going to do better than Code:Breaker, it's going to be Zetsuen no Tempest, I think. It airs before Code:Breaker, is produced by Bones (which means it's one of the most likely to get a full license in-season license) and dis by the guy who directed FMA Brotherhood. I'm pretty surprised that it is so unpopular, though the pre-airings for Shinseki Yori may have played a part in that. Also, K (I didn't realize it had a full license already. now I understand why lots of people chose it).

Oh well, my team is unique, if nothing else, let's see how well it does. Not having K may hurt a bit (at first, at least) with that bit of knowledge I just found out, but does anyone really know what's going to do best this season? So I guess that I live in the hope that Funi (or Sentai) gets Tempest and puts me on level terms in that regard, and then see how it plays from there. But with Crunchy having it, that seems unlikely until after the end of its run, which as a bones series, will probably be long after FAL has closed.

And let's not go into Psycho-Pass. People may be overestimating the Urobuchi factor there (and underestimating the effect of literally being the last anime to start airing has). Madoka hardly has any more on its completed than Blue Exorcist, despite the latter finishing almost 6 months after it, but I have never finished in the top 10, so what do I know?

@Higashi: I don't see how Code:Breaker is a better choice than Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun for an early-game boost. It airs towards the end of the first week, which puts it at an disadvantage in that regard straight away. Kaibutsu-kun also has a 5-day advantage over the only other school-based shoujo airing this season, while Code Breaker gets stuck in-between Tempest and Magi and shares its debut day with Bakuman and Little Busters, which will probably get priority from the speedsubbers, so it may not get many viewers right off the bat unless it (or Bakuman/Little Busters) gets simulcasted, which none of them are at this point. Hence why Code:Breaker isn't in my starting 5.

But I think it will be Shinseki Yori that will fall out of favor the most as the season progresses, while I can see Kaibutsu-kun retaining most of the members that started it, and if it can keep that score up too (which, being a shoujo, is pretty likely), it may very well be able to act as a "Sakamichi no Apollon" on the final week if something else falters score-wise or attracts a lot of drops, assuming I have to sub it out, of course. But, as I have said before, I have never finished in the top 10, so what do I know?

Well, it starts airing at the same time as Robotics;Notes or any other NoitaminA series ever started airing. I'm having it on my bench partly for the Urobuchi effect because I count on it getting good scores and all to maybe get some Sakamichi-ish value in the last week out of it. Plus the PTW numbers were were equal to many others and in doubt I try to stay true to my taste :P

True, but Code:Breaker was only intended as an early push in the worst case scenario, it still has good chances of getting a high rank if it doesn't disappoint like Zetman for did for example. But after the first episode of Tonaro no Kaibutsu I might be thinking that it'll surpass Code:Breaker during the whole season, but we'll see.
Glad I didn't pick Shinsekay Yori though, didn't impress me much at all with its first episode.
Anyway, teams with Shinsekai and Tonari will probably take home the first week trophy with both airing so early.

Well, technically the winning lineup for the first week is this:

Chuunibyou
K
Jormungand S2
Shinsekai Yori
Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb/Btooom!/Busou Shinki

due to all of those being licensed. I doubt anyone has such a team though. :)

That's why I didn't do much research regarding what has already been licensed beforehand, because after 13 weeks it would not really matter that much in comparison. It would have added an interesting twist though if that wasn't the case next FAL.

Counting license points on week 13 is totally pointless since it's not going to make a difference whatsoever. Almost every anime is being licensed nowadays, sooner or later. So we could easily end up with all players (or at least all major contenders) getting +50000 points on week 13 and that's it.

Dammit, I would never have picked K in this case. :/ Picked it only to get the extra 10000 on week 1 and then swap it out for good. This show is so gonna flop.

On mangafox Magi has nearly 80,000 more views than Code;breaker even though it has 60 less chapters, Magi's rating here is much better, Magi is more than capable of being a breakout hit like Blue Exorcist and Kuroko's Basket, it has the FMA type appeal as well as the fuhoshi factor.

Magi is the next big Aniplex property (Bakemonogatari, Madoka, Fate/Zero, Sword Art online etc....) it will slaughter the majority of this season in regards to BD/DVD sales and if people here have taste it will do the same in FAL.

1. If you're referring to the statistics listed in comment #2 on the first page of this topic, there's nothing wrong with it. Those are just referring to similar/same team setups. Not appearing on that list anywhere should mean that you have a completely unique team. That is GOOD.

2. Only one swap at a time, yes. You do this by commenting publicly in the Bench Swap thread. http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2315 No swaps will be allowed until Week 2 begins.

Sorry for intruding - I'm not playing in this FAL, but this discussion is really piquing my interest. The point is to pick the most "popular" anime, right? Alright, in that case...

Picking Little Busters! was definitely a smart choice, considering just how many people are anticipating it. J.C. Staff will probably not COMPLETELY butcher it. They did really well with Nodame Cantabile in Bakuman. They'll be okay. LB! will come out near the top in terms of mean score, I surmise.

Er... next up is Robotics;Notes. There is the whole Steins;Gate relation factor, but I don't think R;N will be nearly as amazing as what S;G was. I read somewhere that out of the three visual novels by 5pb, R;N was the worst. It seems rather dull from the preview, but there will probably be some drama later on. I'm not too sure about this one, but it will be popular.

I'm not surprised that Chuunibyou was picked the third most; KyoAni's shows always have a lot more people watching them than other shows... But I really don't think Chuunibyou will be good - I don't see much potential for it except the moe factor... which was the most blatant display of fanservice/moe I've ever seen in an anime. Jeez, KyoAni, you really know how to make me hate your shows.

As for K... well, it talks the talk but isn't walking. K boasts extremely gorgeous animation and the first episode was just a joy to look at, but there seems to be no substance. Now I can't judge from one episode but I'm pretty sure that with only 13 episodes, the story and characters are definitely not going to be developed that much - especially with such a large cast of characters. I also need to mention the shounen ai hints from the first episode, which will DEFINITELY turn a lot of viewers off - remember No.6, anyone?

I'm so glad Psycho-Pass is up there as 5th. People, this will be the best Fall anime. I have no doubts about it. Okay, I might be jinxing it a little, but there is no reason to think that this won't be good. We've got Production I.G, the director from Ghost in the Shell, and Urobuchi Gen. Come on. I, for one, have 3 of Urobutcher's works on my Top 10 list and I am expecting a lot from Psycho-Pass. The characters look great (some people are saying this will be BL from the character design... what) and what I can see from the setting is gorgeous. It may not rack up as many views in the beginning because I haven't seen many people talking about it, but people will soon flock over to it once they hear how good it is. Kinda like Kokoro Connect from this season, except not to such an extreme extent.

For Code:Breaker, I don't have too high expectations for it - in fact, I think I'll end up dropping it. I'm guessing it's gonna be like another Ao no Exorcist. I see people talking about Code:Breaker v.s. Magi, and I'm sure Magi will come out on top if it's anything as great as what people say it is. Another FMA!? Count me in!

Bakuman 3 will be extremely good, but many people don't realize how unpopular it is. I mean, when Bakuman 2 was airing there were probably only like 3-4 pages of episode discussion, and it was mostly to complain about the lack of subs, because the subbers were constantly late. One time the episode was delayed over a week. I creyed hard. In short, Bakuman 3 will probably have an amazing mean score but very few people watching.

Shinsekai Yori will probably be the under-the-radar show of the season, with all the other biggies that are airing. I was very impressed by the first episode and will probably continue to be impressed. This has a very unique premise.

Lastly, I think Zetsuen no Tempest is gravely underrated. The first episode was probably the best one I've seen this season (and I watched a hell of a lot first episodes the past week). Both the art and animation were simply wonderful. BONES has really given us something special, and I wish more people would see it.

Oh - I forgot. Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is awesome and will stay awesome. Thank you, Brains Base. Knew I could count on you! I think that Tonari will triumph over the other two shoujo this season (Kamisama Hajimemashita and Sukitte iinayo.)

If the number of Bakuman PTW had been around 8000 I wouldn't have picked it, but with 11k+ I just had to. I also think many people will not watch it during the season, but we might just get surprised plus it's a good candidate to swap in to profit from the mean score at the end.
