You're dead inside or have been completely desensitised to horrific trauma, not tearing up during Grave of the Fireflies could be used to test for psychopaths.

Sword Art Online had so many "introduce a character, familiarize yourself with him/her over ten minutes, then kill said character off in the same episode" moments... It was almost comedic with how it handled death.

Oh, and Angel Beats just piled on melodrama until it cut short with one of the most abrupt endings ever. I will say though, the song that plays during the ending (My Most Precious Treasure) is really powerful even out of context.

Someone also mentioned Ef... Never have I seen more clingy and annoying characters in a romance series.

FINALLY, someone else who thought the same. Everything was trash about that anime. Cliché characters and dialogue who had no personality.

I feel like I should've wept a lot of instances. Two certain scenes from One Piece, episode 10 of Shinsekai Yori, episode 21 of Psycho-Pass, 4 to 5 scenes from Naruto (1 scene) and Naruto Shippuden (about 3 or 4 scenes), etc. But no, I didn't feel a thing. If we're talking about so funny, that I cried, the final episode of Cuticle Tantei Inaba almost made me cry and so did some episodes of Gintama.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai and Clannad, both felt like forced drama and that has no effect on me. I just get kinda tired at it.

Angels Beats. Don't get me wrong, it was sad, but if it wasn't rushed it would've made more of an impact on me.

But really clannad afterstory to me was so bad! I actually liked the original better!

Are you chii from Anime Planet by any chance? Your writing style is similar and you're from Canada, pretty much the same location. And you've given Clannad AS the same rating. I'd be surprised if you weren't the same person.

AnoHana... all these emotions felt pretty forced. I just couldn't relate to any of the characters in any way. And Menma was just bloody annoying.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. I like what they did by making it dark and twisted but I didn't feel all that strongly connected with characters enough to cry at the sad parts.
Especially with the infamous scene in episode 3:

I was more like "huh?!...what the hell just happened?!"
Those first two episodes were so misleading
I think that scene was supposed to be more shocking than sad honestly. I didn't cry during that show either, but I found the characters to be pretty likeable especially Kyoko. I also like how Madoka's dad was like one of only three male characters in the show and was like the girliest person.

I agree, even though Homura stole the show, Kyoko was a really likeable character. Most, of the anime had sad parts that were obviously meant to make people emotional but I never once cried. Pretty good anime though. I had my doubts on it since I was never fond of magical girls in the first place.

Same.

I generally cry when I finished a good anime anyway. Usually not because it was sad, but because it's over and I don't know what to do with my life.

But Angel Beats! made me bawl.

Well, I think it depends for a lot of people, Angel Beats has a lot of hilarious moments, but the episode where Iwasawa leaves gets me choked up every time because I have a lot of similar feelings about music.

angel beats for me, but i think it was because my friend really enjoyed it and liked it... and was like you WILL cry, but even before the episode in question came about, i didn't like any of the characters or the story..... so when that episode came about i knew that to anyone who cared about the characters and story would probably be crying but i couldn't just do it! my friend was like you 'heartless c**t' i was like.... 'no.... no im really not, this anime hasn't done anything character or plot wise to make me care'

My eyes started swelling up at the last scene. Otherwise, I felt irritated watching it.

The ending of Angel Beats.

there were plenty of hints that you can't pick up unless you watched a lot of anime, but they were there from episode 1. agreed that the train scene was tear-inducing. but the real question is

Miyako was really clingy and almost psycho even though she had just met the guy. Kei thought she had dibs on the same guy, just cuz. Chihiro had some problems, but she was doing her best to make them worse, so I couldn't feel sorry for her.

Ah Well Naruto probably, but OMOST all of the death scenes were so pourly executed. There were like 2 freaking scenes where they actually gave it enough time 2 sink in, but 1 was a character that had so little character creation and the other one was from the past and I never shed a tear for a character that died, but they jsut show me how.

During the show cause everything was forced, over and over, and after the show when i saw all the hype around it and people begging for a season 2.

Not to mention that if a season 2 really is to be achieved i could finally crack up.
