Alright for somene who has just barely started to listen to those genres
what bands/idols do you suggest are absolutely neccesary for me to listen?

Something like if i ever did a j-pop quiz i would have to know those...

Suggest me 2 J-pop and 2 J-rock bands and as many J-metal bands as you want...I know J-metal is not considered to be its own genre, but you know what i want to say in the context...

Right now i only have some anime openings and endings(check my list for that),versailles,Malice mizer, nightmare,Baby metal,Gackt & Maximum the hormone...

Music is about what you like, not about what you absolutely necessary have to listen.

J-pop: Utada Hikaru, YUI, Uverworld, L'Arc~en~Ciel, Supercell, Remioromen, Olivia Lufkin, Kalafina, Aqua Timez, DEPAPEPE, flumpool, Kokia, Yoko Kanno

J-rock: One Ok Rock, Abingdon Boys School, BUCK-TICK, Rookiez Is Punk'd, The Pillows, Bump of Chicken, Plastic Tree, X Japan, Gazette, SID, D'erspairs Ray, Dir en Grey- could count as a J-metal band as well.

J-metal: Evilchoir, Thousand Leaves, DEATHGAZE, Serpent, Crossfaith, Animetal, Sorrow of Tranquility (I don't listen to many J-metal bands).

I can help you,

For J-metal - Yousei teikoko is a MUST,
J-pop - Nightmare, Kawada mami, Kalafina, Kotoko, Tommy heavenly6, FictionJUNCTION.
J-rock - Back-on, Momori, Uverworld, bingdon Boys School

Ofcourse there are more but most of those are somewhat famous ( and do alot of anime music)

Personally I listen to this alot and I like it.

Granrodeo are pretty good. They're one of those bands where all their songs sound very much the same, not entirely a bad thing though.
