| I don't think any of us could comprehend what being a god is like. Maybe in the sense of existing as we are now but being able to do whatever we wanted (fly, make plants grow, erase someone's existence, etc), but not as that absolute being that watches over everything in the world and such. So in terms of being a god as I am now but with the added god-like abilities of being able to do whatever I wanted, I'd probably say no. I just wouldn't know what to do with my powers ... could I make the world perfect? I have no idea what perfection would be like. Erasing things like hatred / jealousy / greed and all that ... could be a solution, but then can we really still consider ourselves human if we're stealing these emotions away? Maybe for them it would be perfect, but for me, knowing full well what used to be .. no. And at the same time I wouldn't use my powers for personal gain, that would become boring in a sense. I'd like to live a normal life, maybe have some luck on my side (resistant from colds / disease, never get caught in thunder storms, etc) but really, I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I became a god. so No. |

| The short answer: Yes, of course. Who wouldn't want to have nearly unlimited powers? (I'm pretty sure omnipotence strictly speaking is logically contradicting, so I'm avoiding that term, and I don't think rejecting logic to explain such power is discussion worthy) The longer answer: Depending on what "nearly unlimited powers" are, some interesting thoughts can come up. I think a reasonable definition of a god is an entity capable of even playing around with the fundamental workings of the Universe. In that sense, we might just be capable of being something close to gods someday. If computational capacity continues growing without fundamental barriers, it will be so abundant that a universal simulator might become feasible. There, one could just use a tool to change the number of spatial dimensions from 3 to 4, or make the ratio of the mass of a proton to the mass of an electron change from 1836 to 50, and other things like that. Hopefully, it will be possible to calculate every ramification any given change would make and display the results in real time for a significantly sized virtual universe. That would prove to be fun =p |

| I'd probably create a host of lesser deities almost as powerful as myself, and then make a huge galactic playground consisting of lots of different species, civilizations, cultures and empires. Then I'd propel them all into an everlasting, interactive political war drama, and send my sub deity minions around to pull the strings and act as players controlling their own factions against each other. Basically a huge 4EX game, but with real people and actual drama and politics. Awesome. |

| Ok well just touching base with rights and wrongs before i go on (there will be some holes here and there). I don't believe in a "right" or "wrong" I believe in "desire" and "undesirable" I'll list some examples of "sins" basically what people consider "wrong" (just because I'm saying these things doesn't mean I desire them, I don't mean any offense to anyone because people isn't everyone) 1.Murder- people didn't want to die, therefore they made murdering one another "wrong" 2.Stealing- people didn't want to lose objects of matter, therefore they made stealing "wrong" 3.Revenge- people didn't want be hurt or in fear of being hurt and harming another, therefore they made revenge "wrong" (this one could go a lot of ways) 4.Hate- people didn't want be hated or didn't want to be hurt because of hate, therefore they made hating "wrong" 5.Jealousy- people didn't want themselves to get hurt, therefore they made jealousy "wrong" (could go a lot of ways) 6.Bisexuality- I don't know why this is considered "wrong" but if I had to guess, maybe people thought it was wrong (hehe who knows?). Well that took forever, I forgot how I was going to use that to help my answer. But until I remember, I think i wouldn't want to be god maybe a wolf/human deity with black hair and grant luck and good fortune, but only to those that I'd select and watch over (I think it'd be fun). I don't think anything is wrong or tainted I just think some things are undesirable. |

| Define god. If we're talking in regards to the classic theist perspective, then no, it's not logically possible. Theists believe in an oxymoron, it just isn't possible for the god of the bible to exist. However, then we're left with an open book. I assume most people refer to god as an omnipotent, even though that isn't actually so. An omnipotent signifies perfection in that it cannot possess imperfection. However, to have created this universe, this "perfect" being would have had to have possessed desire. Desire stems from a consciousness, and a conscious cannot exist without an emotional base. Not only is emotion imperfect, but emotion cannot exist without opinion, which, being a juxtaposition to fact, is also imperfect. Then I'm left with only two choices: A) Become an inert presence without will or emotion or B) Become something like the Greek Gods No... |
