As construction guys, too?! lol~.

The guy has his bang covering one eyes (Ishida-san? Finally!), wow looks so kind. It seems like his male cousin is very outgoing, but very scared of scary story. The main guy only contact with her through letters. lol~ uncle wanting to scare him. That made him wanting to see the girl he's been writing letters to. No wonder his desire is very strong because he had just been writing letters to her for 3 years. He made poetry.

Ishida-san's character's cousin likes a girl with reddish hair. Ishida-san's character made her realize his seriousness about her. She's the one who made poetry. Wow, so many kids. And the two of them met again when dead.

Such a pity that Zura... I mean... Yoshitaka had such a short live ;_; Well, but it would get boring quickly if every couple had a long, happy life.
The part about Michitaka's future was funny xD

I was sad when they said Yoshitaka only lived to 21. D: That sucks.

Michitaka was funny though. He's one hell of a man.

But Yoshitaka had three years with the woman he loved after getting the advice from Michitaka. You never know how much time you have left so don't put off the important things in life.

Michitaka didn't appear to have his career hurt by taking a commoner as his first wife. I'm currently reading the Kagero Nikki (in translation) so I can understand her fears about being forgotten by a nobleman since the position of second (and subsequent) wives or mistresses was pretty tenuous in the Heian court. We may get to see an example of the author's (mother of Michitsuna) poetry as well since she was included in the 100 Poets. (She was the second wife to Prince Kaneie who was the father of Michitaka through his first wife.)

While Michitaka and Takako had seven children according to Wikipedia, it looks as if she was the most important not the only woman in his life as he had five other children. That isn't a lot by the standards of the court. Fujiwara no Teiki the charming narrator of this show (and part-time traffic warden) reportedly had 27 children by a number of women.
Please don't feed the trolls!

i love the contrast of the two poems.. each story was pretty average but when put together in one episode, it shows how more meaningful and contrasting both poems are..

the first one deals with promising to value his life more in order to be together with someone.. (ended up dying early though)

the second one deals with wanting to die now in order to preserve the promise of being together till death.. (but pretty sure lived longer than the first one did)

At this point, I'm feeling a little meh about the stories. Yeah, they're alright to watch and all but pretty average stories. There isn't any deep content or much characterization. I'm an avid fan of traditional Japanese poetry so I'm still watching but I'm a little underwhelmed.

Michitaka was pretty funny though~ XD

The first story about Yoshitaka was sweet, but also sad. 21... - that's nothing. :(
But the poem was beautiful.

The second one was a little happier.
But it reminded me of that saying - don't know where I got it from: "Beware if a man calls you his first - that means there's a second" Or something like that...

The "and then he passed away x years later" always gets me. It was so happy and cute and then you tell me he passed away at a young age. But I agree with rodac, because at least Yoshitaka had three years with the one he loved. It's true you never know what'll happen, and you wouldn't want to leave with regrets. Glad things went well for Michitaka as well.

one of the best love stories for me so far, everyone here had their own destiny and happiness, well, in the end, they have met each other on the other side- quite a well-written end)

Yoshikata was only sending letters to her before so I guess when he finally met her he couldn't hold back. oh no Yoshikata died so young at least he had three years to live his life with his wife and have a child, his story was so sweet but sad when he finally treasure his life and wanted to live together with his loved one, he ended living a short life.
While on the other hand his relative, Michitaka, was funny but finally got to live his life with the one he loves and lived a long time too.

"You're the only woman I want as my first wife."

The irony of profuse romanticism while being constantly conscious of the implications of polygamy.

Just when I thought "oh finally we get a sweet story with a happy ending" then the narrator said that Yoshitaka died young. Seriously... even though it was only briefly but I quite liked him.
