If it's service then yeah it is aimed at me.

I live so surrounded by it that most likely I will not find it stupid even if completely out of context. For me all service makes sense. I don't especially like anything that includes females, but I can ignore it's happening.

Depends on what kind.

I enjoyed Ergo Proxy's philosophical fanservice.

Ecchi fanservice, though, I could do without. However, in a show where I am especially interested in the character in question, suuuure.

It all depends on how they use it, if it suits the show and the scene sure, but if it is totally uncalled and just to plain obvious I think it can really spoil the show.

Love it, but sometimes it's not worth sacrificing a lot of the other content for fanservice such as Rosario + Vampire. Not a well thought out project from Gonzo.

I don't mind it, as long as they don't overdo it. I've watched some shows where they have over saturated the show with so much fan-service it was almost a little cringe worthy.

Mind you, if I'm watching an ecchi series, it's kind of to be expected, so it doesn't bother me then at all. I kind of bring it on myself by watching it!
Your search on "Oran Solus" returned the following quotes:
"Oran Solus? I know him. What a wanker. He still owes me a tenner." Oscar Wilde
"Oran, you're so intelligent and awesome <3" Bakayaro
"Oran's sexy." LolitaDecay
"Oran is a sophisticated penguin." Drybananna
"Oran is a Hand-Eye you faggots." EddieSpaghetti
"Oran for Prime Minister." the_prime_one
"Oran is all that is stated in his sig and more." orbitzz

Yeah, if they pull it off creatively, it can be really entertaining and funny. However, if it's too much every episode (Like in Rosario+Vampire), it gets too ridiculous.

For some reason,I like the fan service in Rosario + Vampire, but in other shows such as Zero no Tsukaima princess no rondo, I hated it.

I must say it all depends on the show, some shows I expect and want fan service others II think it would be taboo to use fan service. What show is ok and what is taboo then? For me it is simple, ecchi/comedy I actully expect some fan service and I want it to. But more serious dramas or just more serious storys I think it would be taboo.

I don't mind fanservice if there's, for example, one panty shot every few episodes, but if it's gratuitous, I'll get annoyed by it easliy. In short, I can handle fanservice to some extent.

It definitely depends on the tone of the show for me. For example, I don't really wanna see any fanservice in my serious anime, like Gundam 00, but if I'm not getting any fanservice in a show like Rosario + Vampire, then something is very wrong. :o

(And if you watch something like Rosario for anything other than fanservice, you'll likely be quickly disappointed, lol.)

And obviously, I'm referring to the ecchi side of fanservice and not the otaku-reference side of fanservice.

Exactly. There are types of shows that wasn't meant to be ecchi and there are shows made just for fanservice, and there are shows that's 100% straight-to-the-point service (a.k.a. hentai).

Having Zero no Tsukaima plagued by ecchi disappoints me. To see one of my top favorite series turned into immature tit-joke fest when it has all the potentials...

Would also like to point out the different types of fanservice. Some as tastefully done, some are just bad and blatantly ask fans to boost the company's DVD sales as well as molester rates in Japan.

Some examples of bad fanservice:
To-LOVE-Ru, Kanokon, Rosario+Vampire

I don't mind everyone in awhile, but being slapped with that kind of service all the time caused them to lost the appeal of fanservice. As opposed to aroursal, I see them as amusing jokes lately.

Examples of tastefully done service:
Strike Witches, Toradora! (I'd recommend checking out these anime if you haven't already)

I'm so tired of the down the top and up the skirt shots.
I just feel a bit awkward staring at some poor girl's massive boobs, and when it's the 4087th time that episode, it gets annoying.
Even girl fan-service is grating as well. As in, for instance, kuroshitsuji. I'm not into yaoi and in this series i feel it is slightly touching on pedophilia sometimes, great for some but it just bugs the hell out of me. But then again, it could mainly be the reaction of screaming fan girls to it that bugs me more.

It depends on the show for me. Sometimes a series needs it to create some stereotypical humor. However, I would not like a show if it show panty shots every five minutes.

It depends. Some animes with a more serious tone can be ruined with badly used fanservice. But in the other hand; the blatant and sometimes ecchitastic fanservice is what makes some animes worth what they are.

I'm a bigger fan of more serious-natured romances, so if the fanservice isn't done well (and overdone & out of place) in these series - I'll have rather not have any fanservice at all. That's not to say that I would dislike fanservice-y anime, it's just that I prefer things in a context they're designed for, not trying to combine eg. boobs, constant panty-flashage and stuff like that with a more or less genuine romance. (Although if completely overdone that could work as well, like Rosario + Vampire shows to some extent).

This poll needs an "in moderation" answer. Some shows are better without it, others have so much it's painful to watch.

In moderation and tastefully done its absolutely fine.

However I can think of very few shows that actually succeed at that..

Excessive fanservice gets tedious very quickly.

However as other people have pointed out, anime and fanservice go together hand in hand, so often you have to grin and bear it, its not made me stop watching anime yet, although i will avoid gratuitous fanservice shows.

Oh, and loli fanservice is ALWAYS wrong

I find fanservice funny whenever I see it, I always get a good chuckle when seeing it, But an overuse of fanservice can really kill it and it will soon become tedious.

It really depends on the show for me. I appriciate at best when I don't expect it and if its funny as hell. That being said, the increase of these ecchi/ fanservice shows make me believe that there is such a thing as too much fan-service.
