THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This episode of Hyouka visits a rather interesting part with Eru and Satoshi.

For one Eru showed loads of determination on her part with that senpai from the club in the spoiler
I did not really see her dragging the guy into a corner and make him blow out in the following,

with emotions towards her. Along with the pink part in the spoiler
one could wonder how determined Eru might be. Loved her hands there.

On the other hand Satoshi’s part with Irisu and the magic show in the spoiler
had its charms of setting but also of how he reacted in general.

Finally NEW ED in the spoiler
YES! This one is interesting in terms of showing Eru with that pillow weird thing, Ibara thinking and in her room. Satoshi in thee end of it staring at the moon………is he trying to reach now in the series the impossible? It sure shows it that way or it could be his feelings are starting to show, feeling being associated to the various notions that the moon represents. In any case new ED is fascinating in its own aspects.

About the beginning, I was quite pleased with it on various parts. For one very adorable faces of Oreki in the spoiler
the pouting was totally win for him since he never really did it as I remember. Eru was totally MOE love.

A second extension with the lunch part in the spoiler
got not only quite impressive black and white shots of Eru being curious overall that it was MOE overload! Moreover the blushes of Eru around there were quite intense TBH. Third would be the way Satoshi went about Oreki in the following,

Along with the spoiler
showing him pointing out to Eru. It was plain hilarious Oreki was referred to there.

About various other elements, in general I found that Ibara in the spoiler
was quite splendid herself with her facials if she was not amazing over 9000 in the last episode with her MOE.

I am starting to think of Satoshi’s friend in the spoiler
of being rather arrogant towards him.

Lovely depiction of the mystery in the spoiler
Hyouka once again innovates with depictions rather nicely.

Finally loved seeing Ibara meet her friend in the spoiler
that was quite lovely TBH. I like her a lot due to her general design and being a reminder of a another girl I liked a lot in another anime.

That being said Hyouka still entertains and is MOE pleasant and enticing.

Chitanda finally mentioned the guy about Juumonji incident.

They want to use the incident for CMing the magazine?

It's Juumoji, instead of Jujmonji? He's using A I U E O for the ordering of stealing in clubs.

The guy is thinking about the culprit's thought in another perspective. In return from helping out with cooking competition, the childhood girl gave him the mirror.

Cosplayers of Vocaloid are saying bad thing about Childhood girl for arguing against sempai the day before when sempai's suggestion had good result, and assuming that what she said was fake (about the doujin). The sempai shut them up.

Newspaper guy really did keep the promise about the event.

Special instrumental ED with everyone's thought at night, and especially that guy's friend decided to capture the culprit instead of the main guy.

YOSH! Satoshi! I'm rooting for you!
I like how their is no OP or ED from time to time, it's really awesome because we got a little more to watch!
I wonder if Mayaka's manga conflit will have some connection with the mystery or the upcoming arc... :O
and I hope Chitanda will try the tactics again but with Oreki :P

A side note: Lelouch and C.C reunite! XD

Yes. The straw millionaire line continues.

fountain pen >>> pin >>> gun >>> wheat flour >>> Mayaka's mirror.

Wonder what item Oreki will get next?

Our full of brimming energy Chitanda is tired. Love the scene where she hugs the eggplant dakimakura.

From what I can deduce, there are three mysteries going on (I don't know if all of them can be considered mysteries though)

Oreki's straw millionaire line (item trade)
Mayaka's missing manga
and Juumonji Theft.

I have a strong feeling that the one that will next be targeted is the Classics Club. Anybody can tell why, it is to increase our interest.

I call the dibs that if any object that will be stolen from the Classics Club is the "cactus". The animation focused at the cactus at some point.

Ibara is being bullied by some members of the Manken again.

Seems like Satoshi finally revealed his intentions of beating Oreki.

Chitanda finally gets tired of running around, asking people favors.

Satoshi said Oreki is "changing" because of Chitanda.

So Oreki finally manages to interrupt one of CHitanda's "I'm curious" moments. And is it just me, or does Satoshi use an iPhone? Anyway, the ED showed some angst for everyone except Oreki, who seems to be busy surfing Amazon.

Another exceptional episode!

The festival arc has really been amazing. The fluid animation, writing, and dynamic characterization have all improved quite a bit during this arc, even considering the high quality present throughout the earlier episodes. The energy in each of the festival episodes is so impressively portrayed. Every detail seems to be painstakingly recreated. It's really a joy to watch.

Satoshi's character complexities have been greatly hinted at throughout the show, and I'm thoroughly excited to see whether or not he'll be able to solve the mystery before Oreki does. The ending to the episode was very well done, highlighting the varying mental and emotional conditions between the main characters. I also really enjoy the small bits of romantic foreshadowing whenever they happen to be present within an episode, particularly those between Oreki and Eru.

Hopefully the conclusion to this arc is as brilliant as the episodes preceding it.

Yay new ep been waiting for it!
So we finally bite into the meat of the mystery and begin our investigation, hehe.

First Oreki's reactions were funny, he was like, crap gonna. get. drawn. in.!!!
hehe, but he caved and has begun thinking about which Mayaka teased him about, speaking of which those vocaloid cosplayers need to get off her case, geh, they annoy me, good thing that Ayako told them STFU if you dont know what you;re talking about, that was cool.

Eru put her skills to work in the most literal sense possible, I have expectations of you! dude:haa...
hehe well she tried and managed to snag him in the end, but it seems like all this is tiring her out, hope she doesnt fall ill or something... but it could be a nice infirmary moment between her and Oreki if she collapses at school but heres hoping shell be alright they can have moments all the time!right? hehe, hmm...

Satoshi finally getting involved heavily and tried to catch the thief but he fumbled, -sigh- , but he tried and looks like he hasnt given in yet. With the ending it seems that Satoshi has begun to change as well, no longer satisfied just being a database and wanting to be himself, more, well I think, I may just be overthinking, hes awesome either way, but its about what he wants. Maybe he want's to be someone special, he is, just doesnt realize it, but since he doesnt think he is, he wants to become "himself" to be what he wants to be. Well either way whats important is that he is who he wants to be and likes it, he'll be special no matter what! hehe i think i rambled and overthought this a little... who knows?

Characters are developing nicely.

Irisu in the theater was cute too when she blushed saying she didn't know all that much about magic and if it was alright. And her being all into it too.

And Oreki's trading route continues! Hilarious how he mentioned it himself, but true to his motto,"well i dont really care" or something like that Ka! haha!

by the way

Nice moment in the club room, though it feels as if everyone, excluding Houtarou, is a bit down. Kind of feel sad for Fukube, his mixed feelings over how Houtarou is developing, hope he can still embrace him like he did in the past since he is still providing him what he wanted and hopefully what he desires.

Vocaloid cosplayers are awful.

This show is really starting to annoy me. They get so into the "mysteries" but they are all things that don't even matter, like a missing ladle or a silhouette in a window. I guess Detective Conan just made me used to murder and kidnappings and stuff. I don't know.

Oreki did it for the first time, he interrupted Chitanda although he couldn't refuse in the end but he made progress.

Chitanda took Irisu's advice, poor Tougaito didn't know what was happening to him.

Give Irisu more screen time!

Satoshi is trying to be the boss this time, I wouldn't mind it to be honest if he succeeds.

Really enjoyed this episode! Though Eru is determined to go through with things, as others said, we finally see the results of her constantly running around doing other people favours.

I'm also very curious about the trading thing, always wondering what Houtarou will use each item for and what he'll get next! And honestly, I don't think Satoshi will beat Houtarou, no matter how eager and determined he might be to solve it, it can't be helped - Houtarou just has that talent, like Irisu said in a previous episode. He's gonna be able to do it even if he says he's not that interested, ha ha.

And we have bonus in every single expression of Chitanda and Mayaka. Makes me fall in love with them over and over. Kawaii~

Wow that episode was actually really good. The serious tone was done really well and I'm actually pretty excited for the next episode. The mystery isn't all the interesting, but the way the characters are reacting to it definitely is. I'm pleasantly surprised with the way this arc is turning out and my favorite part might have been when Chitanda was asking the newspaper club for a favor haha.

I enjoyed this episode. More is uncovered about Juumonji. Everything that is stolen from the clubs is taken ahead of time, to avoid being spotted.

And Oreki's "Straw Millionare" Trading Co. Continues with the addition of Mayaka's pocket mirror, the person she's cosplaying remains a mystery to the audience. But as you may have already figured out it is: Mabel West from Agatha Christie no Meitantei Poirot to Marple .

I don't really think the implications of the mystery are important here. Maybe it was the execution but I thought it was interesting how the characters, seemed to be having trouble with figuring out who they are and why they do what they do. It's been brushed over in past episodes, but I feel as though it's something they went into a bit more detail with here and it worked great. They all seem to have confidence problems though....

Indeed - that scene was pretty good. Though it is funny because, back when she asked Oreki to help her remember what her Uncle had told her, she unknowingly used some of the same strategies Irisu suggested. Namely, she asked him in private and made him feel like she had expectations of him.

Yeah it does look like Satoshi is jealous of Houtarou's skills. Hmm there could there be some incoming drama about this.

Lol at Chitanda's terrible attempts at negotiating and at her excitement when she saw that small mention of the Classic Club. Houtarou's attempts to avoid Chitanda's curiosity was funny too.

I loved Chitanda's attempts at coercing the guy. As expected, they failed hard. She's just incapable of actively coercing someone. That doesn't mean it can't happen withou her actively trying it.

And I'm curious (ba-dum tss) about the mirror and what it'll be used/traded for.

No, I don't think so. They're sycophants trying to suck up to Ayako, who obviously have had an argument with Mayaka about what the manga club ought to be doing. Ayako doesn't seem to appreciate it, however. Not very farsighted of them. What are they going to do once their sempais graduate?

This episode was amazing! A little bit of character development in this one. I absolutely loved it!

I feel sorry for Ibara; she didn't deserve all those bad remarks from the cosplayers! But she'll show 'em who's boss somehow. I hope. And somehow Chitanda seems a little odd to me, at the end.
Oreki's being as calm as ever, which is something I truly like about him. I loved it when he made that "Straw Millionaire" reference.

Now, all my attention has gone to Satoshi. I'm really psyched at the fact that he just revealed his intentions for beating Oreki; I do hope he gets to solve it, somehow. I wonder what was it that he wanted to say to Oreki, though. Something like, "I'll beat you/I'll find the culprit before you do", perhaps?

Anyway, this episode was really great, as compared to the past few, imo. I'll be eagerly looking forward to the next one.
