man, that was a pretty crazy ending. good to know that there might be a sequel sometime in the future.

overall, what started out great didn't quite turn what I hoped it to be but still an enjoyable series none the less. gets a 6 from me.

and nice preview at the end their. good to see that the aone-any joint will be doing Shikabane Hime Aka.

So in the end not a whole lot has really been resolved...but it was a fun ride all the same. I do wish the series would have been longer as there was so much more that could have been done with it. None of the characters got enough screen time (especially Ryoko since she can never have too much) and any kind of intrigue the plot may have had kept getting pushed aside to allow room for various action scenes, wars of words, and so on. Still, given that Ryoko is awesome and the finale included Tokyo Tower getting blown up as a plot device I'll give it a 7/10 since it was so enjoyable.

There goes the best show of this summer, with class, action and brightness. Very good ending too, even if I'm not a fan of open-endings, I must say this one resolved most of the development of the anime. Awesome, 9/10.

There was some amount of relationship progress, I guess. They could have done better with the suntan lotion. If I were Izumida, I would have had that suntan oil ready to go as soon as she said the word, no delays.

So before we had Izumida not sure that his boss liked him, but with no rivals or complications.

Now we have Izumida aware that his boss likes him, but with Monami to get in their way and interfere with their time alone together.

Good episode for an ending I guess. Shame we didn't see Ryoko and Izumida actually get together but oh well. Overall Rating would be 8/10 for me :)

Was a good ending. This series has been great all the way. Even though there really hasn't been much plot development it was still great to watch.

I kind of want another season but than there are so many series doing sequals after a season that I'm getting tired of waiting all the time.

An okay ending to a show with a wonderfully promising beginning. Unfortunately all the charm and character was lost under a heap of bad sci-fi conventions. 7/10 for me.

This show went from being one of the best shows this anime season to just "another show" for me. This show had a real possibility of being a 10/10 for me, but those last couple of episodes just really dragged it down.

8/10 in general for the show, 4/5 for the ending episode.

It's interesting that Ryoko mentions finding the people who framed her "in the New Year," and that January 5th is circled on Izumida's calendar...hints at a second season this Winter?

I think this was a great final episode. Lots of action, comedy, and drama, and even a little mystery about the future. One of my favourite series this Summer.

I hope your right, I'd really like to see a second season that answers stuff.

As for the ending....it didn't really resolve anything. The main villain was a clone, including her side kick. Izumida still seems oblivious to Ryoko's feelings. There was no explanation of why Izumida was having dreams of the Ryoko clone that shot her self. Nothing super natural happen at the end other then the bad guys melting. What looked like Ryoko losing her job was switched into her keeping her job and scaring the news people and her bosses? I didn't get that part at all. Their claims of Ryoko doing what she wanted and abusing her power where all right. Also that fact that she's gonna inherit JEST. So when she simply shrugs that off and says their all false and everyone just believes her it felt so fake. That had to be the stupidest part.

As for the show as a whole, I'll give it an 8/10. I may change it to a 7 depending on if they don't make a second season.

I noticed the January 5th too - really hope we'll get a new season for this show - looking forward to it.

and yep, the ending was great as well as the show in general.. I feel really sad it's over (!__!)

Final episode, at last! This was one of the best series of this Summer, I'm sad it's over... In the end, it didn't finish quite the way I was expecting but ah well, it worked just fine. Lets hope there's a second season =)

Not bad, the ending keeps lots of things open but with this series that's not necessarily bad. The scenes between Izumida and Ryoko were brilliant as always.

I'd be a lot happier if there was a second season as well. And I agree with your score, D. This show probably would have been a 9 for me if there would have been some sort of plot evolution and/or conclusion, so it's lowered to an 8, and quite possibly a 7.

Yeah, I found that as well. The sci fi didn't bother me, but what it took away from the character development did. We never found out about Izumida's dreams (as others have said), or why Ryoko acted that way with that wave-emitting bug (few eps back), or why whats-her-face went crazy with the machine gun this episode, etc.

But the characters were enjoyable, and I would go back and watch certain episodes again just because Ryoko was pretty darn cool. And the soundtrack was a pretty nice addition to a short series as well. So, as I said before, 8/10.

Nice anime. There is some hole in the plot though, they could have explained a bit more sometimes. But Ryoko is so well writen, that it makes a 8/10. She is absolutly awesome. The soundtrack is excellent too and the fight scene well done. I would like to see more, and if possible 24 episodes since in my opinion it would be better with more time to explain the develop the plot.

8/10 from me too.

Got WAY better in the second half when they introduced the over-reaching plot of the series. Would've been better if they'd put the first 2 Monami episodes earlier in the series, then had some more time in between until her return. More suspenseful overall! Oh well.

I also hope for a sequel. It's pretty cool.

It was an interesting anime. I guess the character interaction between Ryoko and Izumida turned out to be the highlight for me... and the quite nice animation. I also wish the series had been a little longer since it didn't feel like things were fully resolved.

Anyway, enjoyable overall. I liked it. :) But I'm not sure it'll turn out to be particularly memorable, in the end...

I really loved this anime.. until the last case. *sigh. i mean, the story was so smooth and i was expecting more from my Ryoko. *(
I thought they'll reveal something big about her, but then again, its about other case. *sigh.

Still, i like this anime a lot. Ryoko reminded me of my beloved Yuuko, though they each have their own uniqueness too. :)

About this last case, it has an open ending ne? want to have more of it, i want to read the manga now, since i think the second season will be impossible for now.. :( grrrr. why does good animes lately have to finished this way?

so much for rants.
as for my real comments.haha
love the two maids. :) oui! :)) and muromachi's wildness was Nice too! Hahaha.
ryoko in the end came back to herself which is what i love the most! ;)
i want more of izumida x ryoko's scenes though. :)
so that's all.

all the fight/action scenes are just too unrealistic for my taste even though this series has supernatural elements in it.

There goes another anime with potential.

Ryoko standing on top of the tank like a boss = priceless. People are shooting at her? She oesn't care! People standing on top of tanks are BA anyway so bullets evaded her.
There were some pretty boring cliche SF cases but Ryoko made everything fun to watch.

An interesting series overall. Even as it dealt with the paranormal (which actually could do with more explanations) on the surface, there is always an undercurrent of politics lurking around. Although it is not uncommon for anime to feature politics (Legend of Galactic Heroes is a good example of one), it is really rare for one to actually discuss about Japanese politics specifically, however briefly, so that was rather refreshing to me.

On a side note, I think it is a nice touch for Nabatame Hitomi to be Monami's voice actress. I find it pretty awesome how she sounded completely different from Ryouko.

Interesting cases but some of them aren't really well-thought. Like the case of A.I. gone berserk ('the programming works because it's simple'? don't underestimate SI developer), the underground resort and casinos (why would anyone bother to build such an expensive, easy to track 'hideout' when politicians nowadays are already 'invincible' out in the open just fine?), and the ultrasound bug that pushes people to commit suicide (it assumes that everyone will want to kill themselves once they're consumed with loneliness and low self-esteem when hey, different folks have different buttons to push).

Ryouko is awesome sauce but everyone else is meh. If Izumida is more interesting he could make a good dynamic duo with Ryouko, but this way he's just as good as her bitch. Not to mention there's no depth in anyone's feelings toward anyone. What makes Izumida so desirable for Ryouko (and Monami)? What about Izumida's attachment to Ryouko? At this point the rivalry between Ryouko and Oyuki is much easier to digest, probably because it's such a familiar trope, and it's so extra I didn't expect much from it in the first place.

Overall it's enjoyable show especially the wacky parts of it (giant salamander! bugs that can mindf*ck your brain! blowing up the f*cking Tokyo Tower! etc), and I do like Ryouko and Izumida's chemistry. Low B from me.

There's no joy in this. Not the most cynical show I've ever seen, but with an ending where the 'least' corrupt person wins, it is very unengaging and rather annoying. Ryouko might be the most despicable main character I've seen in a long time. Am reminded of Mikami, but hundreds of times worse and with no sense of humor.

As for the show, most of the episodes are nothing special maybe even boring. The only thing it had going for it was the not-supernatural supernatural animals, genetic manipulations and mechanical versions of animals usually associated with some sort of mythological power, but the cases only go as far as Ryouko's selfishness takes her, and the bland writing doesn't make up for it. Overall, was excited for a supernatural cop show and ended up very disappointed.

Yes I can see why people might really dislike Ryouko (with good reason) but I feel like she had enough charm to her evildoing that she still ended up likable. Also, like I said, she is revealed to have a soft interior.

Despite the negative effect it may have had on realism/engagement, the supernatural elements spiced up the series for me, as they usually do.

The series is really rough around the edges. I'm OK with people dodging gunfire and surviving because of plot armor and all that, but counting on your opponent being stalled by your monologue instead of shooting your immediately is where I draw the line. Then there's inconsistencies like why didn't she call on JACES' private army for help, and what exactly was the dirt that they had on her because it's never explicitly stated that she did anything wrong... etc. I also think that the clone should've been foreshadowed better. Tally these all up and I can see many people dismissing the series but I think these could be resolved with minor tweaks. The supernatural elements don't actually interfere with the actual politics, which talks about a military-industrial complex and government corruption. You take away the supernatural stuff and it'd be the same plot.

The bigger issue is that Izumida is not an active character nor an interesting one. This series is badly in need of another season to develop Ryouko's character either way.

Still, I highly value this series for being DIFFERENT. Even if within itself the execution wasn't spectacular, it stands out in the sea of anime. For the first time, I may be OK with the fan service because it's so imbued in Ryouko's character. Ryouko is a memorable character that shows more personality than most anime characters I've seen and she's probably the best femme fatale. She would've been perfect if she had a non-beta male character to bounce off of though.

As far as assertive female and plain male going on adventures goes, this is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy better than Spice and Wolf. The mechanics are the same--- the hot, capable female character is interested in this plain ass guy for no reason--- but at least Ryouko is not pandering to the goddamn otakus and she doesn't make it as obvious.
