Recently there have been a string of burglaries being committed by a ninja on Staten Island, one of the five boroughs of New York City. Fourteen homes have been broken into, including one this morning. The first of the break-ins occurred on June 6 at a home on Park Lane, with the burglar entering through a sky light. The burglar usually searches for jewelry and cash, and is armed with a pair of nunchakus.

In the ninja's latest infiltration, the man who was in the house heard him crashing through the kitchen. When he came downstairs, "standing in front of him was a masked man dressed in black."

Phil Chiolo said:
And there, standing, facing me was a ninja; a guy dressed up as a ninja.

The ninja struck Chiolo with his nunchaku on the collar bone then on the back of the head. Chiolo fell on the countertop, where he then grabs a steak knife and stabs the ninja in the chest down to the handle. The ninja flees with the knife still in his chest.

Police describe the suspect as six-foot-three, wearing black, and possibly carrying a tool bag.

EDIT, 9/23/07: Ninja Burglar has struck again. And he's famous now :D

A Todt Hill woman on her way to bed last night bumped into a masked man, possibly the nefarious "Ninja Burglar."

"I started screaming, 'The Ninja is here! The Ninja! The Ninja!'" said Mary Ann Carlo, who lives on Flagg Place.

At least he wasn't wearing an orange jumpsuit.

Since the burglar was presumably in full ninja gear when the crimes took place, I'm guessing that, if the ninja is apprehended, the police line-up for this case will be rather interesting.

"All right -- Ninja #5, please step forward and give a menacing glare through your mask."

Right before finishing this sentence, I thought it would say "...and possibly carrying a knife."

Still, a black suit, a mask and nunchakus doesn't make a man a NINJA. Probably just some show-off wanting to make a name for himself. I wonder if he actually knew ninjutsu (I'm practicing at a dojo for 4 months and it's tough).

I was actually thinking the same thing when I first read this news lol...It's the bad influence from over exposure to Naruto.

I guess they'll have to go by which one has a knife wound in his chest.

It probably IS due to overexposure of Naruto. I've never seen any other ninjas that actually make crashing noises and let themselves be stabbed. Seriously, if you're gonna impersonate a ninja, do it right. -_-

Well a ninja costume is an easy way to disguise yourself but a ski mask does just the same...

He should come visit me... I'll show him how a pirate fights. Now I just need a cutlass, parrot, peg leg, some rum, and an eye patch.
