Enjoyable and relaxing, but easily forgettable.

I was hoping for some memories to be revealed and a longer fighting scene.
This episode made me lower my score from a 7/10 to a 5/10

Finished. I hated everything about it. From the drug breads to the annoying and simple characters to the ultra boring, uninteresting and cliché story.

Pirate bro was bro though.

It was a good ending tho it could have used some more spices then again the entire anime has been pretty laid back.
I wonder if there will be sequel to this.
The anime itself was pretty nice to see a strange but happy island and the way there bakers live.

I feel sorry for the suckers who came in thinking this would be an action anime.

Anyway, thought it was average, though I thought they should have just stuck with the slice of life, because then the action tag wouldn't be on this, and so many people here wouldn't have been bored out their mind by watching the Breadmaking version of Aria.

6/10. Good, nothing special though, was a relaxing show and had fantastic animation and art. I wrote a review, made sure to say "Do not watch if you're expecting action", as I feel that's one of the series main problems.

episode was dull...

There were some good episodes here and there, but I was annoyed at how characters were introduced and then never seen again. It's like 'why'd you bother with that episode?' All I can think is that there's a second season on route which will actually feature the other characters more, but the chances aren't very high.

Nothing happened...not on the Slice of Life front, not one the action front, nothing. And OF COURSE the 'final battle' was basically just Rick and that stupid girl from the castle. We still got no reason why the castle likes to confiscate anything someone gets by their own hard work. And we have no clue why the prince is such a jerk, or what his next jerk move was going to be.

The ONLY redeeming feature of this show was Xiao-Mei and Hank. They carried the show for me. Melty was great too, but she was one of those that were introduced and never seen again.

I could go on and on with how this show was disappointing. And no, I never once suspected it was an action show. The title kinda made it seem impossible. I did expect some action here and there though. Which was to be had.

Slice of life is either supposed to make you laugh your face off, or watch as the characters grow with each other, getting through the problems of life.

This was basically Rick's emo journey to understand that he wants to bake bread.

Rick and the three are as oblivious to the true nature of the island as they were since the beginning. It's just sad.

This episode was actually nothing special to me, it did feel like an ending even though it didn't give that much closure.

Overall this show.. Hmm.. The reason I started watching this show was because of the art, and it made me stay for the whole thing too. I did come in expecting some action at first but was slightly disappointed that there were very little. The small bits of action were pretty good though, so I'm quite satisfied with that. The characters were great IMO, the art was just awesome, voice acting was very good and the music was also really good.

Pretty relaxing show in the end, with a great atmosphere and a bit of action here and there.

I originally intended to give it 7/10, but after some thinking I found this to be pretty enjoyable and fun to watch.

Well, Aria was from the start sure of what it wanted to do and never deviated from that, at least not for very long. It did what it set out to do very well and in a way that satisfied the expectations of the people watching it to a very high degree.

Shining Hearts, however, has struggled with what it was trying to be and in the end didn't do what it wanted to do very well.

Now, mind you, I didn't dislike Shining Hearts, but I felt it definitely did better when it wasn't trying to be trying to be action/adventure. The actions sequences, with the exception of the sword fight between Rick and Xiao-Mei in the castle, just simply came across very awkwardly to me. Everything else, from Hank's motor scooter to Rick's sudden ability to take down a high tech battleship with a sword, just came across as so much "Gee! Look at what I can do!" and felt very out of place.

An anime about bread making should stick to bread making. The series went down hill once they incorporated fighting into it.

Overall the anime was average. This episode and its conclusion emphasized that.

We didn't even see the pirate girl at all... nothing happened and we still don't know anything

This anime was worth watching just because Melty & Sorbet were in it.

You know that woman from the bar with the garlic bread?
I always thought the pirate was the father of her son because both of them had similar eyes (unless I imagined that...).

I was going to give this a 4 if not for the scene where Rick was basically dying and he still puts in effort to take some bread out to give to Kaguya.

I give it 9/10 just for the art.

The art is really something I will miss from this anime.

That being said till next when another one like this comes out. Too bad it was not as much action as I though.

Personally, I like this anime version better than the game itself.. I didn't get much feeling of happiness when playing the game despite it was supposed Shining Heart story theme.

From the game OP and ED, it is even implied the story takes place in an Utopia or World of Happiness.

I still wondered why some characters from the game doesn't appear at all in this anime, maybe it is result of fitting the story into only 12 episodes.

I think if they explained it, it gonna take the happiness away from the story.

¬ Can anyone please tell spoil me the games plot from all of this? I haven't played the game but I've heard that the world they currently live in is fake or something created by Kaguya in order to escape the harsh reality of the real world and In "real" reality or Rick's world all the bread making girls are dead? (As we see in that sudden flashback in the anime) And Rick story is somewhat depressing?

If thats the case, I don't get why they didn't adapt and portray it to that extent. For an anime with very good art/animation and VA's it just seems like a waste =/

Well, what can I say....this is about as simple as an anime can get.

Unfortunately, the reason I think this anime failed surprisingly enough was because of the half-assed attempt to make a story/plot out of this.

IMO, it would have been better to have 12 episodes of slice of life romance or comedy or something other than this.

It made little sense and too often it was boring.

The girls (whatever their names are) where a big problem as well.

They had ZERO personality, ZERO intrigue, and they literally did nothing.

I loved the art, the setting, and the music was pretty good too, however the problems I listed above were too much.

5/10, I'm going to be generous because even though it was boring.....it really didn't do anything terrible it's biggest problems were the lack of interest and depth.

So.. There isn't going to be any explanation on how they got to the shore, lost their memories, their past lives etc.? Looking back at it, there's quite number of characters that are pointless throughout the series too, like the elves and the tsun witch..Or.. They are just created to taste Rick's bread..

Not sure to give it a 4/10 or 5/10.. The female character design is good, but that's all.. F/

Where the hell is Mistral? Seriously. The only reason I bothered with this show is because I wanted to see how Yukarin would voice Mistral. What the hell was Production IG thinking? This incompetent trash can't even be called an adaptation of an already bad game. They wasted a bunch of money on this, and they don't even have the fan-favorite girl show up? Jeez. The only thing decent about this show were the character designs by Tony Taka. That's it.

It wasn't really bad though, for me. What made me stay in this anime was the slice of life portion. That's it, no plot, but the characters are pretty much interesting and seeing how their relationship grows. (no BS, SOL is my fave genre)

Still, i didn't get bored with it, good show.

Character design and artwork were good. Of the characters I think Xiao-Mei was the star. She just had personality unlike most of the others. Hank comes in second. Kerberos/Queen third...
Dylan was the cool Bro type but even that cliche didn't really add to this.
Of the main three heroines, Amil almost got there as she actually seemed concerned by Rick's troubles.

Ultimately what ruined it for me was the near lack of anything actually progressing story wise when Xiao-mei or Hank weren't there. Half of the episodes involved showing each of the girls reactions (near identical facial expressions which are so inexplicably annoying that... Ahem.) by slowly panning over each of them or, even worse, the dreaded flashbacks; showing a 30 second long flashback of something that only happened 5 minutes ago does not help what's left of my sanity.

4/10 - at the very least there was enough of a plot to keep me watching to the end.

Pretty bad.

Initially I expected this anime to be a lot better and even patiently waited for all the bread talk to end but it didn't. Alright, bread is fine, whatever- so the plot will be good, right? Nope. There were barely fights and those that were shown, were brief and anticlimactic. So maybe explain a little bit about the different dimensions thing or maybe tell us something about the protagonists' past? Nah, screw that and let's just continue making some bread.
If it weren't for Amil and Dylan's seiyuu (Sena and Zoro respectively) I would've given this show an even lower rating than 6.

Both listed character designers, Shunsaku Tomose and Tony Taka, have worked on a few hentai shows. So, please someone call me once they make an hentai spin-off of this show cause that might actually be more entertaining.

Almost took me half a year to watch 12 episodes...ouch. The episode itself was pretty okay 3/5.

I'm giving this a generous 5/10 as I did enjoy the scenes with the side characters (special mention to Xiao-Mei). I would actually like to see a spin-off featuring Xiao-Mei, Dyran, Lorna and Hank. That could be pretty entertaining. I didn't really care about the main characters or the plot here though.

I enjoyed it. The beginning was boring and the crack like bread was a bit annoying at times. But I'm a sucker for this kind of setting with all the genres it mixed in. I wish the romance was more of a focus. The art and animation was beautiful. Every character was wonderfully drawn and so were the backgrounds.

It would be cool if this got a second season. I want to play the game now but I don't have a psp.
