| Horribly rushed, poorly paced. Anime had so much potential, only to have have so much of almost every episode squandered on terrible romance scenes. The show started out so brilliantly, only to get worse with every episode, jumping back up with episode 7, and then getting worse again, only to be redeemed slightly with the bittersweet (in my opinion) ending. The parts of the anime that shined were the parts where they played fucking jazz and the characters played off one another but they were few and far between. This anime needed at least 20 episodes, maybe more. 45 chapters is way too many to fit into 12 episodes and have decent pacing. |

Can't believe all this happened in only 12 episodes damn O_o Even Ritsuko doesn't look like a guy anymore lmao holy shit. The new character designs were great. Even tho Sentaro still had kids around him, he didn't get any1 :/ If only there was a side-story manga like GTO Shonan days for Sentaro's disappearance, would be awesome. If there is one tho let me know lol |

| Sakamichi No Apollon - the only anime to make me cry on two consecutive episodes. I feel like I know the characters which is incredible considering it was only 12 episodes long. It was a journey that I was privileged to be a part of as the viewer. The first 10/10 I've given in almost 18 months and richly deserved. |

| Talk about having a perfect and original ending, I don't think anyone that hasn't read the manga expected an ending like this which is often missing these days. Loved every single episode, can't wait to read the manga and re-watch this in the future. |

| Honestly, this is one of the first and only times I have ever just rewatched the ending to an anime... more than twice. Just rewatched it today, actually, and it still gets me. This is one of my favorite series of all time, I wish more people knew about it! |
| was a really good and simple anime, 9/10 I just wished for more closure in the end :( kaoru/ritsuko being officially together would've been nice, and seeing kaoru's mother sing for him would've been amazing. Oh well, still great. |

| An 8 year timeskip is quite a gap, so many questions to what happened in between those years to each character. We got closure for most of them though. The reunion was touching. I didnt expect to like this that much especially with the insane love octagons but damn this was good. Music was amazing. Gotta read the manga. I see that there is a afterstory included in there. 9/10 |

| Just finished reading the manga and I can tell the ending there was way more satisfying, not saying I didn't enjoy the ending of the show because I thought that was great too, it's just that there's a lot more story/character development to Kaoru's character when Sentarou left which makes the pacing look perfect compared to the anime. It almost feels like the ending of the anime just used a couple of chapters of the manga's last volume which is sad because I feel it would've been rated way higher if it wasn't. Definitely would recommend reading the manga if you want more out of the story. Both Manga and Adaption 10/10 |

| Not a big fan of that ending, felt awfully rushed. A lot of drama felt like it was created in the same way throughout which got a bit tiresome. But overall it was a good ride and it had some really touching and fun moments. 7/10. |
| When Sentarou and Karou meet up again after years, they don't say a single word. They just start a jam session on the spot. This show has class. It has a sense of respect towards itself and its audience. That's not a move done without thought. I admit I had, and still have, concerns over how romance was addressed in this show, but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. The way Sakamichi no Apollon addresses jazz is a wild, organic, formless mass of thoughts and emotions. If the intention was to have this be reflected in the story and characters, then this show is quite the brilliant one. Still, while the show has been rocky as hell, it did not disappoint from the very first episode. Either that, or I'm seriously a sucker for whenever the show sets aside its plot, dialogue, and drama and lets the music speak for itself. |
| Poor characters + rushed plot + music taking backseat to bad romance = subpar show. Cliche train station scene just had me laughing and that is not the goal of that scene I think but its what it got. Everything that happened in this show felt forced, just occurred because that is what the plot demanded. As I didn't feel anything was genuine I could never get into it. I'll give it a 6/10 for having a few good music scenes and for the unrealized potential. If I want to watch good music anime I'll see Beck or Nodame Cantabile again. But this? No rewatch value at all for me. |

| i was expecting a sad ending and to cry tbh. but this was a nice ending and more fitting than what i thought would happen. my only regret was the end game pairing was not ri'ko/kaoru/sen and we never saw what became of the rest but other than that a perfect series. |

| A bittersweet ending huh? I mean I'm glad all three got reunited in the end but I can't say that i really liked it because there's so may things i wanna know like, whIy did Sentarou leave without saying anything? Is he still keeping in touch with his family? Are Kaoru and Ri getting back together? Overall I enjoyed this series a lot from start to finish but I can't give it anymore than a 8/10 because of these unresolved issues. |

| Toward the ending, it seemed to feel rushed, but considering the amount of time and events covered in 12 episodes, it was done well. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending.. Kaoru ends up living an dead life as a doctor it seems, Sen becomes a priest but he ran away from his problems.. And Ri chan wasn't greatly developed in the realm of reality. I think the ending, could've been better-development wise. Only ones that seems to be actually enjoying their lives up to that point is Jun and his S/O because they went after what they wanted?? Unlike the others that escaped?? |
