Does this topic also apply as what we think of the anime seiyuu?
Since I've been mostly reading manga in the last couple of years, I'm not really up-to-date when it comes to seiyuu.
-Ones that exceeded my expectations:
Kouen: before, I would use Shinchiro Miki's rough voice, like the one he used for Hijikata, inside my head while reading his lines. I've only associated Yuuich Nakamura with Clannad and Macross F, so when I heard he'll be voicing Kouen I was like "Eh? One of the manliest characters in Magi voiced by Alto's seiyuu? >_>" and I was sure his character will be ruined. As Season 2 Ep 12 started, I was ready to wince as Kouen was about to open his mouth to speak as Hakuryuu was glaring at him, and the fact that Nakamura could pull off manly/rough/regal/badass voice so well made my jaw drop. And his "Oi! Soko no Barubaddo no kozou! Koi!" to Alibaba in Ep 23 (followed by Hakuei proving herself to be Kouen's waifu<3) made me go doki-doki-kyun-kyun mode.
Koumei: Before, I would use the voice of someone from real life while reading his lines :P another amazing performance.
Hakuryuu: before I would use Romi Paku, but his seiyuu is actually good. Just like the two above, I've been using it since I heard it.
Sharrkan
-Not bad, but I think others would fit more:
Morgianna: for some reason, I always picture her with Rei's voice.
Aladdin: not that anyone cares, but I always use Nozawa Masako's voice (widely known as Goku/Gohan/Goten from Dragon Ball)
Kougyoku: I always use Yuri Shiratori (mostly known as Nanami from Utena) while reading her lines. Hanazawa's performance didn't make that much impact on me.
Gyokuen: I like her seiyuu who did an awesome job at portraying her creepy/crazy side, but I think Minaguchi Yuko would fit all aspects of her character, especially if Gyokuen turned out to be either Sheba ir Arba. She'll be amazing as both, epoecially Arba.
Scheherazade: for some reason, I've always imagined her with a loli-ish voice. I would've preferred Yukana.
-Ones I thought were a miscast:
Kouha: I liked Kakihara as Simon and Lagi from Wand of Fortune, but he sounds really boring as Kouha. IMO, they should've hired a woman good at voicing boys, like Mitsuki Saiga.
Judar: argh! I liked Kimura as Shouma and Paris from Romeo vs Juliet (a crappy otome game), but to me, he made Judar sound like a drunkard who's also on drugs. IMO, Nobuhiko Okamoto would've been the perfect fit. |
