Well, I'm not sure if a similar topic has been made, but I have seen some topics that talk about if you don't like an anime do you still sit through it and watch it.

Well, my question is why? Why the hell would you waste precious time to watch a pieced of shit anime that you know is bad?

Sexy visuals and an awesome OST, that's what made me enjoy Guilty Crown.

If I start a story, I want to know how it ends. Otherwise there isn't much point to starting it in the first place.

If I quit watching an anime in the middle I will never know if it gets better or how the story ends. There are plenty of shows that have surprised me with something even if I hated the series when I started.

Besides watching anime doesn't take much time and I find something to enjoy in even a shitty anime most of the time. Occasionally I will intentionally watch a shitty anime because I find it helps me appreciate the good stuff more. No matter what the anime I don't really find watching it a burden especially because I can watch while doing other things.

Earning karma points - I suffer now in next life I can be like... nice roundly stone or tree growing in some nice spot (and not some ordinary stone)

PS.
I don't - everything I watch is good, bad things are dropped even in first episode.
Since I enjoy it than it's fine.

The sake of completion. Also, things aren't usually as bad as they look (some bad stuff turn okay).
And I choose carefully in the first place, so I avoid surprises.

Some shows I don't find interesting till like the 9th episode, but then I love them.
Idk what else.. OCD, sake of completion?

Only show I legitimately dropped was sayonara zetsubou sensei.. just didnt like the comedy style and didn't look like it was going anywhere

Depends of the anime.

sometimes i think it has potential to get better, sometimes i have really nothing better to do, sometimes i want to see how bad it ends (like ao no exorcist)

Used to be OCD of completion for me but don't have the patience or time to do that anymore. If I wanna get to the end (for something like School Days where you read about it alot) I just watch half the episodes at 1.5 or 2x speed in VLC lol...

I finish watching some shows for the sake of knowing what an average/bad anime is.
Otherwise, I won't be able to rate series fairly.

2x is hardcore. I find it too hard to decipher the audio. Plus everything starts to sound like mice.
I first planned to watch Inuyasha at 1.5x, but I'll probably end up watching at normal speed so I can enjoy it more.

I only ever watch things that are recommended to me by people I trust, so I never really end up watching much bad stuff. When I do I'll generally try and finish it at least though. I don't like leaving things half finished. I only have 3 animes in my dropped list, and of those, 2 of them are long running shounen that I read the manga of.
As always, today is the most enjoyable day.

I'd like to believe every one of us suffers from some sort of deep, personal psychosis. I myself have sat through the entirety of ARIA (3 seasons) for no other reason than to see the depths to which it would eventually sink. Watching it was a bit like being in a trance. I knew it was bad and I hated it with every fiber of my being, yet I couldn't take my eyes off it.

My dropped list would be more populated were I to lack this utterly insane determination.

To give it a fair chance.
So I can know what I'm talking about when I say I don't like it.
MAYBE it'll get better.

Of course I have my limits. I must have dropped K-On three times before finally getting to the 7th episode. I typically decide whether or not to drop an anime by that point, as the plot would typically roll around by that point. Aside from the fact that K-Yawn has no plot, I was hoping at least their music would GO SOMEWHERE by then.

Let's see if I can think of a good example...

Bleach. I LOVED the first three seasons of Bleach...I think most Bleach fans agree. Season four...that's when things REALLY started to go downhill and it eventually sunk to new levels of bad and stupid. However, I'm passionate about anime and I want to finish it to the end if I can...I hoped Bleach would eventually turn things around but it never did.

I guess that's my biggest problem whenever I watch a bad anime. If it's bad but it has potential, I'll keep watching, praying it does the right thing. Sometimes, that happens...recently I've been watching Tasogare Otome X Amnesia and I HATED the first 6 episodes...I didn't really start enjoying it until it started explaining more about shadow Yuuko and started diving into Yuuko's split personality and her brutal history. This is an anime that goes to show that perhaps it is okay to watch an anime you find bad but you know it's potential has the chance to turn it around.

Long story short, I don't usually stick with animes that are bad and don't have potential but if they are bad and do have potential, I'll stick to them. Some turn things around and some don't...but I always pray for an excellent payoff to an anime that got off to a bad start.

Sometimes an anime is crap but provides some form of entertainment, whether that's from laughing at it or finding more reasons to criticize it, or maybe it has one redeemable aspect like a cute character that you like. If it's just plain awful and the episodes are a chore to watch then it gets DROPPED, never to be touched again.

Usually I'll watch an anime because it's got good buzz, and the first few episodes interest me, so I'm curious to see the conclusion. Then, when the show actually gets to the conclusion, it all goes to shit, and by the time I realize this there's no point in dropping the series because I'm so close to the ending anyway.

i like to finish what i start.

but more importantly, i want to be a writer. okay, i read a lot of books and stuff, but animes are stories too. so by fully understanding whats bad, what went wrong, why characters are annoying, etc, it helps you avoid those pitfalls when your doing it yourself. like, people say watching bad helps them appreciate the good, its true, it gives you more perspective, i think. like, i believe you can learn just as much from a bad anime (or book, movie, game, comic, etc) as a good one.

I generally give a show 25% of its total ep count, (less for huge or terminally ongoing shows), to get it together for me. If it doesn't, I'm done. Occasionally there is one like Blood-C that is short and "train wreck mesmerizing". You just know it's going to get it together and be worth it in the end . . . . and it never, ever does . . .

Actually, most of my completed sub-5's are from a time when anime options weren't as plentiful as they are today and one suffered through anything you could get your hands on.

It's completionist masochism. Some fully embrace it, others struggle with the suffocating darkness within.

Generally, series I finish but consider "bad" can be divided into five categories:

1. They are "so bad that they're unintentionally entertaining" (Garzey's Wing)

2. They are just mindless entertainment (Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt)

3. They have exceptional visuals/soundtrack (Black Rock Shooter)

4. The show has glimmers of occasional brilliance that makes you hold out in the hopes that said show will improve (Tsukihime)

5. I'm a masochist (Issho ni Sleeping)

I prefer to finish what I start, which is why my dropped list is empty. Besides that, I'm usually always expecting more or better from a show I find to be horrendous. Prime example being Togainu no Chi. Besides not knowing it was meant to be frickin' shounen-ai, the trailer made me start it. It failed to deliver on the action and more promised in the trailer. But thanks to it, though, I now pick my shows carefully.

Insulting someone based on their taste, how original.

On-topic:
I just get through it, no matter how long it takes. Just because I want to finish a show it doesn't mean I have to marathon it, and especially not when I don't like it.
