what a sad story. if your mom hated you and wished you would never born and wanted to get rid of her memory of you, i would've hated her.

Momiji's story was so unbelievably sad. ;_; I can't believe there is a mother who would be like that... I would've expected them all to be the other type Momiji described - the type that is just really overprotective. I wonder what Kyo's parents and Yuki's parents are like? D:

Another poignant episode that brought me to tears. I've always admired Tohru, but Momoigi is so strong to somehow live with the ultimate rejection, despite his childishness. I've come to respect him more.
I don't doubt that by the time this anime finishes I'll be crying buckets of tears.

Initially it didn't seem like the curse was all that terrible, but Momiji's story made it clear just how it affects the Soma family members. Now I have to go and raise my ranking on this show, it really is getting better with each episode.

The rabbit is the cutest of the zodiac, then the rat, dog and others.
So that means Momiji doesn't live with his father? How sad. It's stupid to reject your own child because some spirit possesed him, I consider that being different is special. He is still her son and doesn't posses any ilness or distortion pssss how cruel. His father is handsome and his mother too. By the way that Akito just pisses me off!! It was his fault for feaking out after Hatori's speech, Kana accepted and loved Hatori like he is. Akito should calm himself. All the Sohma family have some mental problems.

After the comedic onslaught last episode with the ever interesting Ayame and his antics, we then have this episode.. Heavy, both the first and last part. I don't like the Shoujo staple shouta that is loli looking, but i had been ok with Momiji until now, and this episode my view changed quite favorably. While its understable that the mom would be not thrilled with the situation, i can't help but think she is a selfish, greedy, stuck up bitch. I'm not so certain the father is much better, getting in effect 'divorced' from his son as opposed to his wife.

The meaning of the words in the opening theme was revealed to be... Momiji's feelings. Because Tohru has also experienced losing her mother, she was able to understand the extent of how lonely Momiji must've felt as a child. She was able to use the loss of her mother to understand Momiji, creating such a wonderfully sad yet hopeful moment between the two (this moment was like, the epitome of Fruits Basket). Tohru must've wondered how Momiji could be so ever-cheerful even living with his mother's complete rejection of her own child, which is ironic because that was exactly what Yuki (and most likely Kyo) pondered while gazing at the bright, warm light of a girl who changed their lives. Because Tohru has also experienced losing her mother, she was able to understand the extent of how lonely Momiji must've felt as a child.

Long story short, Momiji is my bby forever (´▽`*)

And--oh, did you guys see that invisible love triangle that is becoming increasingly more and more visible? Kyo gazing at Tohru and Yuki smiling at each other while the super-denpa-perceptive Hana-chan stares at Kyo; I could practically see her thoughts written all over her face: "I can't bear seeing my Tohru having to deal with two men who're head-over-heels for her and then getting married (ノД`)・゜・。" Haha, personally I'm a Yuki x Tohru shipper, but since Kyonkyon has shown such an... interest, I'm kinda-sorta rooting for him too.

Really touching episode. Momiji's backstory was so sad...his mom is horrible for everything she did, but I commend Momiji for what he said and just smiling and enjoying life and not letting it bother him.

And the beginning of the episode was so sweet when they went to Tohru's moms grave and everyone had such a good time with her, another great example of staying happy and being strong even when the worst happens/worst situations...both Tohru & Momiji have definitely been hurt by losses but they both keep smiling and remain cheerful and don't let it get the best of them. Love them!

That was an incredibly beautiful and heart wrenching second half, Momiji always struck me as the carefree lil guy but he's really strong and mature. When Tohru hugged him I nearly lost it, this series just keeps building me up for a feels trip.

Damn, that story hit hard :|
Family is pretty important to me, so to wish to forget your own son, not even caring if he's right beside you when you say these kind of things, that's just awful... Alzheimer seem worse than death to me. Life is about gathering memories and experiance. Losing these memories is kinda like losing your own identity and becoming a flesh shell.

I love how this reigns true for the message of the series. Use your suffering as a source of strength, even through hard times you can always find something to appreciate.

This episode always gets me. Momiji is one of my favorites, what a resilient kid. Tohru's hug is much more special when you think about how, he probably wishes his mom would hug him. But she never would. Yet here's Tohru who's so unafraid to show genuine kindness :( all the tears.

great episode and all, but momiji character annoys me a bit - in one episode he's totally useless, another episode he saying smart things, episode after that he's going back to his stupid mode and now he's the dramatic character, i understand the logic behind writing him this way, but it's annoying ><

and tohru wasn't better, in front of her mom grave she didn't even shed a tear, but crying for momiji's sad past and his stupid mother and then remembers her own mother...

i'm glad those things are just in anime and not in real life -_-

I can see more clearly a similarity between Tooru and Momiji which stems mainly from their attitude in front of life's hardships.
