You mean adding that google doc to the first post? Welp, how can others edit it? I have never used google docs and don't see a quick way to edit it, except saving and sharing as my own document. I want to make it as easy as possible for others. Is there a simpler way?

As i said in the post, because of the new achievements it exceeded the max size that could have in Pastie... Google docs is easy, because you can edit the document, u can still validate it AND doesn't have a max size ;)

I changed the permissions so anyone can simply edit, u dont need to do any copy paste...

Achievements are based on certain genres, like slice of life, gar, mecha etc and not all titles are on the list so it may be a combination of not enough titles watched in a genre that has an achievement or that the shows you have watched are not on the list for a certain genre or they just don't have a achievement for that genre

Why the need of a list for generes like slice of life , mecha? MAL already provides tags for generes, cant you use that for achievements instead of an external list of anime.

I believe it's been said the reason is because the tags MAL provides aren't always accurate enough for the achievements, which I agree with.

since josei seinen and other are no longer shown as genres , in any chart , how about making achi jack of all trades , for those who read all of them ?

Phew. That was long. I used anidb's mahou shoujo tag and some common sense (because anidb tags are pretty random).

I also added whatever specials MAL turned up, and their respective manga when it was necessary.

*

That said, I don't think Shakugan no Shana qualifies a mahou shoujo. If the only criteria used is 'girl with superpowers'... well, that's like half of all anime - immediate series to compare are Mahoutsukai ni taisetsuna koto, every Angelique, Brave 10 and Zero no Tsukaima. Do those qualify too?

*

Speaking of other series, what about Panty and Stocking and Kore wa Zombie desu ka?

I think that if you look at "mahou shoujo" more as "girl with superpowers works toward saving the world/doing good deeds/etc" then Shakugan no Shana would seem to fit. Sure, I raised my brow at its presence on the list at first but after a bit of thinking I decided, "Yeah, it's not entirely out of place there." I don't know anything about most of the "immediate series to compare" that you mentioned, but Zero no Tsukaima probably doesn't count because it's more of a school life harem romance show.

Anyway, completely unrelated to the above, I added Saraiya Goyou to Historical and will be adding Puni Puni Poemi to Mahou Shoujo in a sec.

I think one of the features of mahou shoujo is transformation, with all the glittering sparkles and stuff. I haven't watched SnS as I'm allergic to Kugimiya Rie, but I noticed that Shana's appearance changes when she uses her powers. I've spend a few hours filtering out those that didn't fit and I hope your suggestions are well thought-out too. :)

I still have a shipload of stuff to do and an exam next week. Sorry for slow responses.

Remember that we still need a badge for historical anime (we have 3 images afair) and manga mahou shoujo! Links to base PSD files are in the first post.

Ok. What about Slayers then?

And I removed Mirage of Blaze from historical. It's a reincarnation story and doesn't even have so much as a flashback.

Slayers is a fantasy setting where people in general have magical powers. It was either earlier in the replies to this post or in another post in the club's forum that someone suggested Slayers and it was discounted as not fitting the criteria.

Edit: Found it here: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=411493&show=80 at the very top.

Well, if someone else is making Space suggestions, so will I. There are so many links that I put them under a spoiler cut:

And the following need to be added to Mecha:

http://myanimelist.net/anime/13731/Eureka_Seven:_New_Order
http://myanimelist.net/anime/1230/Innocent_Venus

A number of the titles in the spoiler cut for Space are also valid for Mecha.

I wonder when the titles that were added to the gdoc on the previous page will be added to the official achi code. Some that I know count for their categories haven't shown up yet.

Edit: in the midst of adding more space titles. :|b Will edit as I obtain them.

By the way, did noone suggest a Sports achievement? This one would be pretty big and definitive. And on a more humorous note, I demand a separate "Take me to Koshien!" achievement for baseball. We could fill it up with Adachi-damn-Mitsuru alone.

I whole-heartedly concur with this. A quick list of over 50 that I have assembled for your convenience.

After spending about 15 minutes assembling this list....yes, you could make a category entirely about baseball. Also, I would be shocked if this list was even 5% of the total number of sports entries.

passing by here to add some other title to the sports list

I'd love to help work on badges, as well. Unfortunately I don't have Photoshop in any of its incarnations. Just ye olde Gimp, which can open SOME PSD files but it's not guaranteed to always work with every version. If I can open the ones linked on the first page and get the necessary border and transparent edges thing to work for me, I'll give it a go. Edit: . . . or not. The download links on the first page give me errors. It looks like I can't do anything with that. Anyone willing to upload a PSD or XCF (Gimp-native) file with the base necessary layers? xD;a

Also, i didn't happen to notice this one in the Space titles list so i'm going to suggest to add it too:

http://myanimelist.net/anime/1645/Harlock_Saga

http://myanimelist.net/anime/1491/Galaxy_Express_999
http://myanimelist.net/anime/1377/Space_Symphony_Maetel

I feel like the font on the Spike one doesn't really fit.

I was going to bring up the idea for a music/idol/band/whatever achievement, too, and suggest using Macross idols for the banners.

@Myna ok i'll see to try it with other fonts maybe~ (thanks for the suggestion ^^)

as for the music achievement:
honestly i thought it wasn't bad to use Sheryl to give some "female" presence overall the space banners at least for one of them :3 Especially cuz i think her nickname "Galactic Fairy" suits quite nicely the space theme
There are plenty of music genre anime, so i'm sure that can be used other charas too in the case Sheryl might get choosed to stick in the space one.. Even only from the macross universe there are Ranka or Lynn Minmey who are still quite famous but anyway outside the macross series, there really are plenty of charas
/but anyway that's only my opnion

The choice/decision will be up to the graph's staff :3

Yeah, I suspected it was the spoiler cut. No problem, I figured it was better to point it out in case others overlooked the list as well. :Db Now let's hope we can find even more relevant titles. *rubs hands together*

And I honestly hope there will be a music achi. Nodame would be a fitting character for one of the badges.

I'd also like a Mizuki Nana character to be on one of the hypothetical music badges since she's the singer-seiyuu queen.

EtnaEraclea, great work, I really like all of your badges. *__*
And I think the last font suits Spike's badge the best, but don't you feel that font size could've been bigger? Just like on the other pictures?^^ (and you forgot the comma there)

Maybe Rina from White Album? Or Rue from Princess Tutu (then we'll have a dancer there, not only singers).^^

And I'd like to see Mitsuki/Fullmoon from FMWS and Nana Osaki. :3

Anyone willing to upload a PSD or XCF (Gimp-native) file with the base necessary layers? xD;a

It's strange, the links are working fine by me. ?_? But I've reuploaded these files in case if you still need them. ^^

Thank you! For some reason the other link kept downloading as a 988kb file and gave me error messages when I tried to unzip the file - something about the file ending unexpectedly or being corrupted. The link that you gave me works just fine and I was able to extract the files without any problems.

Anyway, I would like to propose a bookworm achievement for reading X number of novels. We . . . probably wouldn't need a list? as the code could simply look for how many entries in your completed manga list are classified as novels (as opposed to manga, manhua, manhwa, or oneshots), but someone familiar with the malappinfo file would better be able to verify that. I went and looked through the top 180 or so rated novels and their relations that are also novels, and came up with a good ~140 completed novels and many still ongoing ones; nearly all of those have at least a few completed users, ~130 have 20+ completed users, 60+ have 100+ completed users, 27 have 300+ completed users, and 5 have 1000+ completed users. Between the officially licensed English language novels (Spice & Wolf, various .hack titles, Kingdom Hearts, certain yaoi novels, etc.) and the ones that are known to be available fan-translated ~somewhere~ (Toaru Majutsu no Index, Toradora, Fate/Zero, Gatari series, etc.), I think there are enough completed titles alone to merit an achievement for this. Not only that, but it is a good example of a niche category deserving an achievement. Badges could feature whatshername from Bungaku Shoujo, Sheska from FMA, Yomiko from Read or Die, etc. Anyone else think it's a good idea?

I'd like to make the bookworm achievement for all manga titles, as I wrote in the first post. One level per 1000 or 500 entries should be good. Same for anime.

Also, some more manga achievements would be nice - we only have Mahou Shoujo now.

I can't thank you enough for all your work. I really didn't expect to get so much help from you. I'll get to work as soon as I fix my machine, but I'm stuck to watching cartoons on my tablet for now.

would it be possible to make this bookworm achi based on days we spent reading ? Well 500 entries and 1000 are one helluva lot anyway but there is a lot of one shots and short series, my list is composed in 1/3 with those so that does not fell bookwormish at all ^^

Ah. I had been thinking of the novels one as an achievement separate from that, since it seemed like a unique enough niche. But I can work on the ones for all manga or all anime titles for now.

For manga achievements, my three main ideas not previously mentioned are mystery/detective, horror, and completing X number of titles by Tezuka Osamu: http://myanimelist.net/people/1938/Osamu_Tezuka

Earlier you had mentioned liking the idea of a psychological/insanity achi, but I have no idea whether that is better off done for anime or manga. There was also a nostalgia/"too old to watch/read" achi suggested. Was it ever decided whether to do it for anime, manga, or both? Also, if done for anime would the date threshold be pre-1990, pre-2000, or somewhere else? Just food for thought.

Thank you! For some reason....

I was glad to help.^^

I also like the idea of "novel" achievement, because it would be really interesting and difficult to get)
And I already see that badge with Amano Touko, where she's eating a book^^
