The filming of the live-action movie of Dragonball Z will be starting soon in Montreal. The movie will have a budget of at least $100 million. At the moment, it is not known when the filming will start, but production for it is expected to be ended by July of next year.

omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg DBZ! The Gateway Drug for many an anime fan!!!....I don't like it much anymore, and sure, it'll probably stink, but it'll be one of those movies that are so bad, they are funny. Kinda like the live action version of Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken. It sucked tremendously, and the dude looked like Charlie Sheen on a bad hair day, but it was funny watching the overdramatized "You're already dead". So for this movie, I'm lookin forward to some Vegeta trashtalk

Everyone talks about rock these days, the problem is they forget about the roll - Keith Richards

Notice how "Fantastic Voyage" is one of the films listed as being filmed by Roland Emmerich in Montreal. Guess who's also been listed as the director of a potential DBZ-live action for many years? That's right: Roland Emmerich.

There's a decent possibility Emmerich's production company is using "DBZ" as a code name for something else while there and confused the reporter. Or, at least, that's what I'd like to believe to ease my fears of this cinematic tragedy-in-the-making.

I think they should leave DBZ in animated form...that's where it works best!

But I'll still watch it.

So, after all those rumors in the past, they're really going to do it. I smell bad special effects. ...Please let it fall through.

I wonder if a $100 million is good enough for DBZ special effects...

I mean they could pull off stuff like goku's kamaehamaeha (wrong spelling im sure) and blow up a lot of stuff...how are they going to pull off the super saiyan yellow hair...hard to imagine a real person looking like that...probably the reason it's going to look bad. Again, DBZ is best in animated form.

It will need to be over 3 hours long at least takes them that long for a single fight. Then another 5 hours while they charge up their power levels/perform an attack before another 3 hours worth of fighting again. Some one dies so another 2 hours of getting to wish him back with the dragon balls and a few more hours worth of fights again. Voila

But if they can do Final Flash similiar to the one used against Cell in trunks ascends on the big screen, with pretty effects then that's enough for me to watch it.

ROFL! Wow this came out of nowhere didn't it, to make a movie now even though the original series that started it all aired back in 1986 (21 years ago) and DBZ started back in 1989 (18 years ago) is pretty interesting. Well whether it's good or bad doesn't matter to me, unfortunately I'm going to see it regardless XD. Like what's been mentioned before, I just want to see one ridiculously powerful attack rendered well on the big screen, that'll be enough for me :P. Anyways, even if it's bad (highly probable) I think it'll garner a fair audience because lets face it, DBZ was the anime that helped popularize anime in many other countries besides Japan when it was airing. Hell, even all of those DBZ video games that come out now, although the series is long since over sell well.

Well then again, if they take the easy way out and only do the raditz saga, there won't be that many screen filling attacks. Its either that or completely rape the story (what little there is but still)

Hasn't this been posted on news sites like every year? People expect the show to be made and then 20th century always puts it back on the back burner. If this is actually going to be made, it's gonna suck.

If I were 13 years younger, I might actually give a damn about the story being ruined, but as Neverender said:

Of course, if they remind us that Goku died for our sins and we ought to habeeb it, things might actually become more interesting.

Well, the production cost is rather high so it might actually turn out good if they get;

1. Good actors that fit
2. A good part of the story
3. Replicating the hair

Most people thought Transformers would be bad, which turned out to be pretty decent.

Do you perhaps have several hundred TV screens in the middle of the street that will just happen to shatter while the saiyans charge their Ki (sp) energy?

It's nice to have actors that look similar, but to have fitting voices would be a blessing as well......... >.>

I can't imagine anyone other than the original North American voice actors fitting that part, hahahahaha. Even watching the original Japanese version sounded wrong.

"Hey, Vegeta, what does the E-meter say about his power level?"

Then there would be the obligatory twist in the story wherein the Saiyans are revealed to be Saiyan-tologists.

This will probably be like the Live-Action Super Mario Bros movie with John Leguizamo. It'll be very loosely based on Dragonball and all the Otakus and nostalgic fans will come opening weekend to be disappointed by something tailor made to non-fans with little to do with the original story.

or

It will be awesome and blow your freaking mind!

------------------------------------------------------

I'll wait till the reviews come out before I even go near the theater.
