If you've read Holyland, and i highly suggest you do, you'll notice it's a great manga with a good story line (Although i wish they would show Mai more often), Anyways im looking for a manga like holyland It can be with a kid who is not strong at first but then gradually builds up, or it can be about someone who is strong at first but hides it and doesn't use it to fight people unless he has to

If it is either of the two - Developing Character or Already Developed but doesn't use it, please label it as so. Simple instructions and thank you in advance.

sorry to tell u this but you will not find a good martial arts manga with great character development and story line like holyland. Seriously u should enter a mourning period. griev and cry for a little while and then move on and check out other good mangas with great diffrent plot like sanctuary, vinland saga, shingeki no kyoujin.

anyway here is my recommendation for u in order:
1-the breaker-Developing Character(manhwa)
2-the breaker new waves-Developing Character(manhwa)
3-veritas-Developing Character(manhwa)
4-history strongest disciple kenichi-Developing Character
5-Gekiryuuchi-Developing Character
6-All Rounder Meguru-Developing Character

Pretty much read/reading all of those but thanks for trying, and i'm reading about like 30 different mangas right now so i doubt i would ever grieve and cry over a manga, I'll just find another one.

Teppu might work, it doesn't have the same depth though (Developing Character)

Girls of the Wilds, if you don't mind a bit of comedy with your fighting (Developing Character)(web comic)

Mx0, maybe, the main character is pretending to be Already Developed and eventually follows the route of Developing Character. But again, this is comedy and doesn't have the same depth as Holyland

Honestly, I can't think of a single series with the same genre's as and general feel of Holyland that would be on par with it, it really is one of the best (if not the best) of its kind.

I have been reading GOTW for awhile now at the latest chapter, and you are correct about Holyland, i really like it and at the last chapter where his "girlfriend" is about to be kidnapped it's gonna be great because he's most likely going to go crazy and she's most likely gonna stop him and kiss him.

The answer to this question depends on how good your Japanese is.

If you can read Japanese, then there are tons of manga out there like Holyland.

If you can't.....then you're out of luck, there isn't a lot of scanlations out there.

Shamo is really good but it is kind of long about 300 chapters. It fits your criteria perfectly. Warning: mature seinen anime. Not for readers under 18. (But who listens to that anyway)

Rikudou by Matsubara Toshimitsu

Art is quite similar, both characters seem empty and troubled, then somebody comes along to help them. It is centered on boxing, and is very Gore and extreme ( drugs, sex, and rape). Read if you're interested... You have been warned

http://myanimelist.net/manga/7375/Kokou_no_Hito

kokou no hito is veeeeeerrrryyy similar to holyland, except, no martial arts. the main character instead tackles his own demons through mountain climbing. but honestly reading it you will get pretty big holyland vibes i'd imagine. i enjoyed both immensely and they are even roughly the same length!

edit: why did i just reply to a 3 year old thread, shame on you erica lol, level 91 necro

I am totally late to the party but still I have got a great recommendation for ya.
"Kurogane" is the name of the manga although it ain't as dramatic you should still like it. It ain't as good as holyland(I don't think any martial art manga is as good as holyland) but you should like it. It's got that starting off weak but gets stronger mc like holyland.

Read Dokgo. It's one of the best manga which is about a experienced fighter who has his little brother bullied (resulting in death) he goes back to school as his brother and f**ks shit up.

Sanctuary - changing society

Beck - music and finding purpose

Angel Beats - self discovery

Mob Psycho 100 - self discovery

Mahou Tsukai no Yome - finding purpose and a place to belong
