At least 100 titles. Anime Freak signifies an extreme anime watcher. 20 is weak sauce. :-D

Maybe, that's an average of about five episodes a day.

I watch the same episode of a series once a day until I find a new one I like.

i would say at least about 300 series completed in about 5-6 years or 150-200 episodes a month.

I did some math

you can actually pack in a staggering 600 eps a month if you do nothing but go to school(35 hours a week) and sleep (70 hours a week) and food washroom ect (5 hours a week)

if you watch 2 eps per hour

Most I've done is eight. Episodes that I haven't seen, anyway.

If I didn't have to worry about streaming videos loading or my school's achingly slow download speeds or Netflix DVDs to arrive, I'd probably be watching 5-10 a day at least...and more on weekends when I have more time. :)

But I'm not a freak yet, if you go by number of series watched. Newly addicted, I guess you could call me.

Most eps in a day for me.. something like 25. Just one of those days where I have nothing else to do so I just race through a longer series. This only happened like twice though in the past years.

To answer your question, I'd say about what Faust said.

so far my longest anime streak was the full trigun series, and the love hina series (not both at once, but i watched 26 episodes of both so they tie) may have been more when i watched most of the GTO series and some episode demos from newtype but i have no count on that. with how busy i have been at school i haven't been able to watch nearly enough anime for me, but on a good day i get in at least 8 eps (mostly the summers, and long breaks)

looking at my list am i considered an anime freak?

Hrmmm, there's a lot more than being an anime freak than just watching I would assume. What about the wallscrolls, the action figures, the fandom, and the conventions, eh? XP

good point

own around 380-400 manga

i have a poster covered wall (with only around 20 or so total hanging right now) and a lot more that i haven't gotten around to hanging up after moving.

I own around 100 figures (spending all my money on my at the next convention) almost all in complete sets, a few limited editions, and some my exchange friend sent me.

been to three conventions so far, and was hoping to go to another one feb 18th, but i couldn't make it

i have a very limited budget, and spending money on anime (+ related things), video games, and books it just doesn't last.

Very good point. Anime watching doesn't constitute anime freak.

For the record, I'll be at the next Anime Expo (along with Koreth), if people want to meet up as with a big MAL event. I'll likely post a big sticky about this sometime in the future.

In totality, I've watched 143 anime series, and yet I haven't been into any Anime Expo in my entire life. o_o That doesn't technically make me an anime freak ne? XD

@ Kanashimi-san

Don't forget about the trying-to-learn-japanese on the list :P

most i've watched in a one go, or close enough, is Hunter X Hunter, whole thing, in a weekend.

It was my second or third time through (well two and a half, first time i watched it myself, then when it was close to complete one of my friends came to my place everyday after school and used my other monitor to watch the serie and i played something on my other, but somewhat rewatched it also).

It was a dark, stormy friday day. And after school ended i went to shop, took care of the most vital, 3x 2-pack of Coca-cola, 2 bags of chips, dip, candies and few battery's. Now that most essential part was taken care of, 400 km/h back home and next to my comp. And watched the whole damn Hunter X Hunter, thou i did sleep also.

but its 62+8+8+14 eps, 92 episodes. and from Friday 17:00, whole Saturday and into Sunday evening about 21:00 before i went to sleep to get into school at Monday. so what that comes up with, 24 hours + 7 hours + 21 hours, 62 hours and 92 episodes.

and yes i did sleep, so not that much time was wasted on anything else than sleeping.

but yea about 150eps a month could be counted as a freek because 5eps a day isnt really much, but if you skip a day its 10 the next day, 15 if you skip two days. if you can keep up daily its counted as a hobby rather than addiction/freakish, but if you actually try to keep up with a average of 5 eps/day, if you fail that you think you need to watch 10 the next day... thats freakish and addiction.
Truly yours, Arinohyoshi

i wanna go to the expo, but i would need around $1200 at least for airfare and hotel from the prices i have been getting. In around 2 years tho me and some buddies are gonna drive up to it for a road trip. We are gonna try to get either a short bus or a van.

does it count if you break up the watching into section with sleep?
if it does i have to rethink what my longest marathon like that was....

Heh. The Expo isn't that far from here, but I can't go. -_-;
I went to last year's, though. It was a blast, but I would have no money to go this year.

Hmm, I say you have to have at least watched over 100 (completed) different series although that's still small potatoes :P, considering how many animes they are out there. As for the number of episodes a day, that's completely dependent on what kind of time you have. Some days I can watch anime all for hours with no end in sight, while other days I just feel like I don't want to watch anything. Then of course you've got to fit that into your busy schedule.

I don't think you can call yourself a freak until you start giving up things like food, sleep and sanity in order to watch more anime. Provided you have sanity left to give.

Well I don't think it counts as how many you already seen, but how many you watch a day or spenda per day and indeed without food or sleep stuff like that xD.

I had a similair thing last year in periods loads of free days, I did eat and drink luckily and all, but it was basically all day anime watch watch watch and download and download you know the drill xD

Wouldn't this be debatable? :P What if you are unable to download mass amounts of anime and have to resort to buying DVDs? That's how it was for me till last year. I had a couple friends who downloaded anime, but that was mainly actiony shounen titles. Back then, I only had the few series I had bought and what I watched on TV. But I wanted so bad to watch more anime. Heck, I even attended Anime Expo 2005 with my limited exposure.

Then came 2006 and my friend showed me how to download through torrent. So...that's how my list came to be. But looking over my list, it seems that less than half of my complete anime are actual downloads. Heh, quite a few are sequels, movies, OVAs, or specials of one title too.

not counting ova's or movies...100 SERIES! Thats my opinion anyways. Although, i just count ova's as part of the series and dont even add them to my list.
