| Well. I have joined this forum partially out of boredom and out of interest in continuing to converse with my fellow anime fans. I came into this fandom....I can't actually remember when, but it was a few years ago (as if that actually narrows it down), with a Shakugan No Shana set I got for Christmas (I asked for it myself). After that, things just came one way after the other. Registering on this site was actually somewhat....lengthy. I tried coming as "Agni" (my most common online alias now-a-days), but someone took that. I then decided to use my other online name, Makoto Hastae (an intentionally strange mix of Japanese and Latin that literally means "Sincerity Delivered with a Spear". Yes, I know that makes no sense, but hey, that was part of the design), which didn't work because I can't have two words in the title. Neither did "M.Hastae". Or just plain "Hasta". So, I decided to dig around in my Latin dictionary and take the name "Scriptor", which literally means "Author". Just that. "Author". I took it because it sounds cool and I'm an amateur writer, so it fit me to a T. Aaaanyway, it should go without saying that I like anime and manga. My tastes are pretty wide--I like practically anything as long as it's a good work in the first place. My favorite anime of all time would have to be Gurren Lagann (though Madoka certainly gets up there) and my favorite manga would be Negima!. One note, however: I am an avid dub-fan. I will watch subs if I need to, but I prefer dubs in nearly all cases. I know this one statement has already made me a pariah among the weeaboo population of this forum but I don't really care. I didn't come here to hear the same old arguments against dubs that I've heard a million times before. Just leave me chill and and I'll leave you chill. De gustibus non est disputandum, you know? ...I probably should end this before it becomes a thesis rather than an introduction. So, hi. I cannot be concise to save my life... |

| Welcome to MAL, Scriptor! I agree with you on the who dub debacle. I just don't like subtitles in any language, they take away attention from the action. Though If I'm forced, I don't mind it too much. There have been some dubs where its just done too bad, and then I'll watch it with subs. If I understood Japanese I wouldn't care because then I could turn the subtitles off and just listen. Anyways, glad to know you're joining us here at the MAL forums and I'll see you around! |
