Ok, I finally tried two episodes of Aria expecting to love the series and get the enthusiasm, and so far I'm really, really disappointed.

Don't try to point any external reason about if I like slice-of-lifes or instead love more action-packed stuff because what I didn't like was the delivery. Specially, this overly cheesy dialogue that falls on obvious, pseudo-poetic and discursive speech about the beauty of life and feelings. And well, the comedy is, uh, unimpressive.

The art is nice and cute, the background music is relaxing but nothing I could find special, but it's just the way the whole is driven what drives me nuts. It feels fake, too "marketed", unnatural.

This episode probably would get 6 points, and the second would have 5. Considering how much has my hype grown since I first heard about this show, it can be classified as a serious disappointment. Will watch the rest, but the first glance hasn't been too promising.

Just want to point out that the latter two seasons, The Natural and especially The Origination really come into their own. You know how on your list tags you say the Animation improves in it's latter episodes, well expect it to improve as it goes along.

Anyway, i'm re-watching this series for the millionth time.

Glad I finally started to watch this series, I really liked this first episode. I wasn't sure if I would like it since I new it would be really slow paced, but it is so calming (plus I watched it right before I'm going to sleep ^_^). Music was also really nice <3

Wow, what a relaxing and chill anime. I was looking for a slice of life, and this can certainly fill that roll.

I watched about half of this years ago, and it's so much more laid-back than I remember. The dialogue was a little silly and melodramatic at times, but that's to be expected from anime I guess.

Another anime to take my time through. Best watched as single episodes, when settled in for the night.

Not relaxing at all, just boring, and I find this to be a bit on the overrated side, judging by this episode. 3/5

I probably won't even watch the other seasons...

I've wanted to check this out for quite some time, but it was never summer...so now is the time. I liked the first episode, a calm experience, heavily relying on the atmosphere. I love these kind of shows. 4/5.

Calming, but also a bit dragged on and boring. Though it did pick up a bit when she rowed backwards. XD

I fell in love with the opening song. <3

But... rowing a gondola is freakin' hard. They make it look easy.

I've read so much about this anime and so many people that I respect rave about it that I'm giving it a go. I have to say that this first episode didn't do too much for me. The art and the music are excellent, and I recognize that the sedate pace must be part of its appeal, but as first episodes go, I'm not exactly blown away. But I'll try to watch it in its entirety to see how it develops.

Really nice start, this feels so soft and relaxing, a excellent anime to just rest and experience a calming story. Lets see if there will be any story to it in the long run!

Great episode and start either way, lets see what's next!

Hmm... I Don't agree with most of you. This episode was not as good as I expected. The atmosphere of the Neo-Venezia is fine, but in the episode there wasn't nothing interesting. Humour wasn't funny and I can't like characters, I don't know why. Graphics are just worse than average, but it really doesn't matter.
This episode was not good, but I see potential of this anime. I'll for sure watch rest of episodes and I think I'll change my mindset about Aria series.in near future :)

This show has some great wit. I loved the part where Ai was talking in a monotone about what she would scream. :D

These girls make rowing a gondola look like a lot of fun.
Your mean should be an even bell curve only if you watch every show that comes out. Having a high-slung mean doesn't mean you're rating improperly. It can also mean you're selecting shows well to watch mostly things you enjoy.

yup fair enough, everyone has different opinion, so there's not necessary to same it with yours. but it's still one of the best among most of slice of life anime.

A very gentle soothing anime. The older animation style contributes to pleasant atmosphere. It seems interesting, but somehow I feel like I'd enjoy this anime more if I was a bit younger (around 14-15) then my current age.

It is probably just the first episode feeling. I really like the OP/ED songs, relaxing tunes with a bit of a jingle. I usually marathon anime but I won't for this one. This anime likes to take it's time so I'll do the same and watch it slowly.

I wonder if the makers of this knew all gondolas in venice have to be mainly black in colour. So kudos for that. I really liked this slice of err future life! Needed this to fill in the gap left by Non Non Biyori.

I found it boring. But the setting is really nice and I always did like the character designs.

I wasn't exactly expecting anything too amazing from this first season. I'm sure there are far better episodes to come. Hopefully I can get there.

I kinda wish there are more events like Akari's backwards rowing and/or Alicia's oar control. Both of them are great.

Also, Ai being snarky at first is pretty hilarious.

Very reminiscent of Kino no Tabi and Mushishi and the music is fantastic for setting up a calm atmosphere just like the latter. Simple, beautiful message in this episode and I think it'll be like this for the whole show. Since it's already so similar to Kino and Mushishi, I'll probably enjoy this very much.

Coming back to the Aria series over a year later, I'm really excited to rewatch this bit by bit throughout 2015. Watching this episode again with an intimate connection and understanding of each character made it feel like a completely new experience. Right off the bat, I'm reminded why Aria is such a beautiful series and why Akari is such an amazing person. Ai had me roaring when she was like "I'll scream" followed by "friend."

Mr. President Aria is already annoying the f*ck out of me gawd I hate these pets :/ in anime that make those annoying sounds.
I hope that critter gets less screen time because I'm afraid it's going to be me or it. I'd hate to have to drop what looks like a decent series but when something is really annoying and distracting...well there are lots of other things to watch. I'll give it a few more episodes.

After going through all 2 seasons and 1 ova, Re-watching the first Aria episode is so much more immense than the first time.
