So... was that a dream or something?
I really loved the Gojira (Original Godzilla film) reference, with the oxygen destroyer haha

Mod Edit: Fixed poll.

I laughed a lot at this episode, specially in the parte where they were planning how to defeat the monster, and when the monster and Yamazaki meets.

I thought this episode would be bad because of this monster, but it was very interesting.

The Godzilla sound bites were music to my ears!

I laughed out loud the moment Yamazaki and the monster locked eyes.

Just rewatching this little OVA for fun.

This episode is so weird. I guess there's a lot of homages in there to old japanese films like Godzilla.

Episode strange enough in the end, I was almost exclaim: What the hell is this?
Comedy always pleasant, the daily Patlabor still seems so current! XD
A refined design, animations sufficient.
The OST are fantastic! * _ *

P.S. I voted the sixth possibility ...! ASD

Obvious nods to Gojira, and a really deep ending. Yamazaki is Love. Yamazaki is Life

this was one of the weirdest fucking patlabor episodes ever. It was funny but that last few minutes was just so odd

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

I watched the films before watching the OVA series.
This one really shocked me, I did not see that coming!
That being said, I still enjoyed it quite a bit! :3

I was imagining it was going to be a giant squid that had somehow gotten trapped in the bay and the "it's a monster" thing would have been a joke that payed off in them getting wrapped up in the fantasy and not considering the realistic possibilities.

I have to agree, this show does feel pretty current!

At first I was like... yeah, a monster...sure...it's just going to be revealed later on that it's a special labor unit that can swim. Then it was revealed that it might be an actual monster as the episode began diving really deep into that scientist's backstory, but I still doubted that it was going to be a literal monster. So when a green, king-kong looking ape with gills popped up I wondered if someone dropped acid in my coffee...it was truly bizarre and I couldn't stop laughing.

Great episode in its own right, but it felt really out of place in this series. It was more of a Godzilla parody than anything else, and the Patlabor aspects seemed tacked on

Really didn't like this episode, if I'm honest. Hoping there's not more like it. I thought this series was supposed to be relatively realistic? Also hoping it was a dream of some kind, because otherwise it just made absolutely no sense.

Edit: Yeah, I'm thankful the other episodes weren't like this one.

Every episode is so wacky, I love it. Ōta shooting the Baltan alien and Godzilla King Kong Yamazaki.

Yep, gotta agree that this episode was weird to say the least. I also didn't expect it to be an actual monster. Don't think i liked it in the end, it really felt way different from what i was expecting this anime to be.

Edit: Why the hell the poll in this thread have 6th option, lmao!?

This felt so out of place with the thematic of this anime when it was revealed that it was an actual monster.

I never watched Gojira or other japanese SF-Monster movies, but it was very obvious that this is a parody episode. And probably also because of that, this episode is my favorite so far (I didn't enjoy first two episodes).

Definitely had it’s funny moments. Laughed out loud when they were discussing what plans to take but agreed with the majority in here. Episode just felt out of place and not as enjoyable as the first two. No focus on the Labors either.

What a weird episode lol. Thought for sure that it was going to be a twist like that it was all a dream or that it actually was a whale. Kinda funny that the previous episode joked about mechs with wings being a farfetched idea, and then this episode there's an actual giant gorilla sea monster.

Trash fire episode, hated it.
Slow paced for no good reason.
Heavy on direct exposition, low on interesting dialogue, extremely low on philosophy
It's got nothing to do with the Labors, the Patrol Labors, or any of the established characters.
They added someone new into the team last episode, this could've been about her instead.
08th MS Team had a slow paced episode with a purpose; demonstrating military boredom during missions, and the mental toll on soldiers. I loved that episode.
It took me three days to get through this one.
My god, man.

This one was a funny kaiju/tokusatsu parody. Ohta was really funny and Kanuka very matter-of-fact. The "monster" and the big guy made a psychic pact. I actually didn't expect it to be real - I thought the preview may have just been a fake out! Good stuff!

I was already feeling that this show was giving me some early Ultraman vibes (specially with the slow pace and their uniforms. lol), and after showing alien Baltan as a target I was sure of it.

Great stuff!
