| I was beginning to think that the examination would never end. So they don't train hunters at all? what was that guy in the first episode doing then? wasn't he from the hunter's guild and out training for his license? It makes the Hunter's Guild seem completely pointless :/ not that I think the Hunter's Guild is something any sane person should want to join anyway, not if they're happy to let known serial killers into their ranks for the express purpose of making it easier for them to kill on a larger scale without getting punished :/ Honestly the whole damn guild should be dismantled and destroyed if that's their idea of a good member. |

| Wow. The Hunter Exam lasted for a long time. Practically half of the series. Oh, well. I still enjoyed it immensely. The tournament was set up in a neat way, I though, with only the loser of each match proceeding to the next one. Too bad for Killua. His family is insane. |
| Great conclusion to an awesome arc. I loved the format for the exam, especially the tower and island parts. The fights in the final round could've been a bit more exciting though I guess. |

| Illumi is terrifying! HxH really makes these antagonists seem waaay above the level of their protagonist counterpart ( Hisoka - Gon, Illumi - Killua, The Phantom Troupe - Kurapika, and pretty much everything against Leorio! ;) ) Unfortunately, since the show is already 30 episodes in, we probably won't have enough screen-time to see these match-ups unfold in a good way, if at all. :\ |

It had all the right parts but wasn't all that engaging on an emotional level -- with the exception of Gon's declaration to Illumi, of course: "There are no requirements to being a friend, either!" Or something. What was up with the animation this episode?? Like, it became ridiculously elaborate at the weirdest parts. In positives, I do like the expression on Killua's face after he kills the old man; tired and surrendering. Think the 2011 had some similar, but the expression worked better here. Same with Leorio+Kurapika immediately after Killua forfeit his match w/Illumi. |

| The attitude towards killing and death in this universe is such a strange thing. If it's one of your friends that get's hurt or killed it's a big deal but if someone you don't like(don't know get's brutally killed then that's just fine. Friends before morals. |

| Guess the only reason Illumi doesn't dare to kill Gon is because Hisoka is interested in him? But the Hunter's guild really is a joke, someone gets murdered cowardly from behind in their own rooms and they only disqualify him and let him go like that? They seem to me just like a bunch of snooty assholes. |
| So, that psychological pressure, Killua’s mind is trained to make certain decisions, especially between living or dying, so, fighting Illumi was an instinctive bad decisions, but on the other hand, he was protecting Gon, such a scene, Illumi represents a lot to him, fear and respect, maybe. I think the right decisions were taken at the hunter association, with Bodoro dead, Killua is disqualified, inconvenient for him. I liked how Gon faced Illumi and how Illumi is an expressionless machine with short answers that doesn’t attacked him cause reasons, he didn’t want to or people like Netero were present. |
