I certainly go insane when I buy manga. It's all I spend my extra money on. Today I just bought six novels of Death Note, completing my collection (Other than book one. I can't find it /anywhere/ at all). Although total they only cost $20, so it was a good deal.

My real question is most likely: How many volumes of manga do you usually buy when you go out for it? I buy about two-three at a time (other than today). Also, what was the most you bought in one day?

I normally just read mine online.
Good God, if I spent my money on manga as well I'd be probably a NEET or a college drop out waiting tables for the rest of my days. I already spend enough on video games! Then college expenses are killing me as well. Add manga to the equation and you got another unemployed bum walking on the streets.

I buy manga on bulk rarely. Usually it would have to be a really really good deal. (example) Naruto 1-55 on say ebay... for 250$

2-3 at fhe same time, but i try to look for them cheaper than normal price as a college student. So bargain books, used books, discounted books, coupons, and someone else's 'trash' is how i survive.

I have 356 mangas so far. ;D

Yeah, kinda, especially at Otakon. The last two years in a row I bought about 55 manga at the con, each year. There's just so much good stuff! This one place has 3 for $10, I go a bit nuts there too and at other used stores.

When a manga is awesome enough for me to consider buying it, I just buy the entire series at once. (that is, if all volumes are available)

But I don't own much manga. Either the stuff I read isn't worth spending money on or it just was/is never published where I live. The latter unfortunately happens quite frequently.

Sometimes I do, other times I don't. But when I order manga online it's usually five or six volumes at a time. I bought the entire series of Death Note in one go from a comic shop as well, and all twenty one volumes of Nana at a convention. It was on offer and I couldn't resist.

Anywhere from 3-10 volumes at a time. I like to reserve a hundred bucks a paycheck for manga and anime. The most I bought at once was when I got all of death note.

As someone as already said I usually read them on-line too but read them in the original book and have them it's totally different and although I don't have such manga as some persons I'm starting to get my furniture full off books,DVD's, cd's, etc. so it's difficult to buy more now, but when I've the chance ( money) I can't resist.

im mom dosent really like me buying as much manga as i do....... so i have to buy it without her finding out, she would rather me spend it on clothes or something "worthwhile". XD

I usually buy two manga every two weeks or so, but it really depends on what i can find in the bookstore

It really depends. because I am based in Aus shipping is Really Pricey, so to make the manga a reasonable (to me) price, I might buy 8-12 volumes. There are stacks of places where postage is $12-35 for a single volume!!!!

Three years ago was when things were bordering on obsessive for me. I was ordering anywhere from 10 to 20 volumes every other week. But within the last year it's decreased a lot. I think I've gotten maybe 30 volumes since early 2011. I'm not quite sure...I need to recheck but I think that sounds about right.

around 5 tankoubon per visit; sometimes once a month but on some occasion once a week and some others, once per three months. used to buy like crazy (and weekly) back then. the most i've bought per visit was around thirty something. now i just buy them to support the mangaka lol.

but the price even for new ones is quite cheap in my country, i mean, one tankoubon in amazondotcom can get me around five to seven here, so.. *shrugs*

It depends on where I'm going to buy it. Regular bookstore? 1-2 volumes when I have the money. Used bookstore? 5-? depending on how much store credit I have. Finding manga at thrift stores? Buy as many as I can if the series is good.

in certain months, it can become crazy for me orz
it depends on how many of my on-going series are coming out + new releases

can be up to 8 volumes in a month (tho then I normally set some back for a "calmer" month)

I usually save up my money first, for a period of time. And then I buy manga, both in my original language and in Japanese, in my original country since it's way cheaper there than in the country that I'm living in now. The one I'm living in now DOES sell Japanese, but it's in another city that's literally 1000km away from mine.
Also, the last time I spent money on manga, I spent around $900 for around 150 books (About 90 Japanese, and 60 original language).

I wish.
I have over £1,000 waiting to spent in my bank account that are not life or university savings (I love my grandparents and aunt/uncle).
The only problem is... it's so freakin' expensive over here. I chicken out every time I press the checkout button on ebay or amazon.
I've purchased quite a few volumes over time using my school lunch money, but now the small manga shop near my school has closed down (and I no longer get money for lunch anyway).
So no, I don't.

At first when I started collecting it, I did...that was when I was in high school and there were actual stores in my mall open that sold it, and since then have all closed. A while ago I needed money badly and sold all my manga on ebay..lol. Now I just don't feel like buying it anymore and just read everything online.

Ehh. If you consider 'buying all of the volumes in one go' crazy, then yes. I mean, if the manga is awesome enough for me to consider buying it, I mean. I'm totally considering buying all of the volumes of Onani Master Kurosawa (it's probably only available in Japanese though).

Usually I buy about 2-3 manga per week since there are a lot of translated manga that I really like available to be read anytime at my bookshelf (and about half of them is not scanlated), and I want to be able to read it as soon as it is released.
Once, there were a very big sale where they sold complete set of manga for about 15-30% of its original price. I took out a lot from my saving and used it to buy about 150 volume (about 20 set) of manga. (had to sneak inside the house in order to not let my parent saw the huge purchase though :p )

I personally can't resist not buying anime/manga when I see either for sale for at a good price, and usually when there's one on sale there's more, and that just leads to me buying anime/manga in large clumps. After I buy a large amount I try my hardest to stay away from more sales for a few months, but that doesn't always work out.

Between mangas and animes, manga is much more tempting to me. I even imagine buying at least one volume of each series I read. Got six at once the last time I went to a bookstore.

Good luck finding pocket change on me. *laughs*

When i did buy it, it was all Naruto. Yeah...Walmart didn't have a good collection, and i was a huge fan at the time. I think i have volumes 1-40 something with a couple missing in between. I have some others that were given to me, but that's about it.

Depends. If I have the money, and the manga's price is good, then I buy. The most I've bought at once was about 8-10, and then I became practically broke. Can't remember exactly how many volumes, because I threw the receipt away so I can't cry about my money, and shoved them into a box to forget about the money. Then a few weeks later, when I got more money, I took them out and read them. Then I went back to the book shop for the last volume, and the lady at the counter remembered me, because she said 'Back for more?' O.O
