Natural Level Progression if the game isn't my piece of cake. If I really like it, I try to grind a handful of levels everytime before moving to a new area. If it's something I truly love damn I'll get to max level on the first chapter xD (eg FF12)

Natural level progression... but if I feel like I need moar power and feel like it, I go for the grinding monkey mode - but that usually bores me to death so 95% of the time, no. ^^

I tend to prefer Natural Level Progression.

My usual rule of thumb is, if you are playing the game on easy or normal you don't usually need to grind, however, when you take the game up to the next level be expected to grind. It isn't a tried and true method, however it is what I go by.

I'm a bit of both. I hate grinding but, when I have to I just do it.

I think Suikoden is best when it come to natural level progression, it just gives you chance to level up to certain level while you are in current location.

The one who play the D.souls series. They also try Skyrim but so far it isn't the best.

For me it's both.

EDIT: If you play SEA Dragon Nest you'll understand, it's quite fun grinding, and the story is nice too (cutscenes too :3).

The only time i want to repeat somthing is when i keep failing, i like things hard and will fight a boss over and over untill i've killed it or i collapse on my keyboard. But once ive beaten somthing i dont want to have to beat the same enemy in the same way over and over and over again just for the privilage of killing the next ones.

So yeah, i generaly prefer rpg's when theyre more based on skill and tactics rather than XP and grinding.

Natural Level Progression. Because I hate getting overleveled in rpgs, and it makes the game to easy.

Natural level progression. I generally dislike when a game forces you to grind in order to progress. It isn't fun and just takes away from story immersion while making the game way longer than it needs to be.

This, I really cannot stand a game that says "Stay here and kill this over and over until you can continue."
With FF8 you can just get magic from cards or items you acquire, but I did spend a lot of time drawing magic, too.

Playing a lot of Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games i generally enjoy grinding just so i can get better demon /persona fusions, that's half the fun of the game anyway.

I tend to grind quite a bit, but if I'm really tired, I'll just simply progress. If the enemies are on screen, I touch most of them then keep going like in tales of abyss, star ocean, tales of graces f.

I used to be the type that keeps one of each item, finish all quests and subquests perfectly and maximizing character's level while enjoying the story.

Though got tired of recent RPG's due to lack of deep story and slow-paced battles. (or maybe I outgrew them, lol)

I was a FF lover (from III to X2).

I think I'm a little of both. I don't grind much untill I get to the ending parts of the games. There's no need for me to do that in most games.

Varies by game really and how the potential grinding is done if required at all.
When available, i usually sidestep to grab few extra levels from areas that aren't meant to be visited yet.

I generally do both. Though, when the opportunity arises i LOVE to grind. i know it sounds weird but its true.

To give a better example, i spent roughly 50 hrs on FFX grinding. Thats not including any main story progression.

I prefer natural level progression but sometimes grinding can't be avoided especially if you need a high level to defeat some kind of boss or something and you need the loot to go with it too. Yes, it becomes too boring at times. And yes, you forget about the main story for the time being but it gets the job done so...
