I didn't see this topic covered already (unless it's pretty old, or I'm blind.)

So, what are your favorite Animes that aren't currently licensed in the United States? (Old or new.)

Most of my favorites are already licensed, but I would have to say Soul Eater is my favorite un-licensed series right now.

Monster - I will wait patiently for a US distributor to license this. then I will wait patiently again for a boxed set.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes - even if it does get licensed here in the US, its highly unlikely that I'll buy this because of the would-be hefty price point. that is unless by some stroke of luck, I win the lottery or the World Series of Poker.

And it would take 20 years to come out. Honestly, I feel sorry for the Japanese during the original release.

Monster - I know that a 74 episode seinen series is a financial risk, but I'm still surprised it hasn't been licensed.

Also: Kaiba and Minami-ke.

Ditto here. I can't believe that this awesome anime is not licensed. The dub could be bad but finding a working torrent for it is near impossible.

Cant really name any series right off my head atm, dunno which has been licensed...but umm....there is ALOT! of hentai i wish was licensed like uhh...everything from pink-pineapple released from late 2006-Ongoing i dont think there stuff will ever be licensed tho because of reverse-importing, censors aren't really bugging me tho(since there stuff is most likely the lowest censor in all of hentai-anime)....O.o.

Ah, my mistake, that news passed me by.

Scratch Monster then, my favourite non-licensed series are Kaiba or Minami-ke (probably only a matter of time before the latter though).

If it does, how will they deal with all those parodies? Either way I like Gintama to be kinda behind the scenes by the mainstream crowd.

I personally hope it never gets licenced. I can't imagine anyone making a good dub for this show, it would be horrible. Don't mess with my Gintama >_<

Well, since the manga has been published in America, the anime will for sure be licensed for an American release as well.

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gintama

"The manga has been licensed by VIZ Media in North America under the Shonen Jump label, under the title "Gin Tama". It debuted in the January 2007 issue, and was serialized at a rate of one chapter a month (as opposed to the two or three chapters of the other serialized manga). The magazine serialized the entire first volume, and currently releases the other volumes bimonthly under the Shonen Jump Advanced imprint; it is rated for "T+" for "Older Teen" (ages 16+)."

Kaiji. Fukumoto's works are too awesome for America. If anything related to Fukumoto did get licensed, though, I'd buy it without hesitation. In fact, I'd be willing to buy Fukumoto-related DVDs more than any others. I wouldn't even wait for boxsets. I'd buy each DVD for Kaiji and Akagi at full standard retail, and still feel as though I've received some great blessing.
