I'm wondering if the dream sequence really reflects something that has happened or if it is altered somehow. Because in the first case it seems odd that Akazawa would only have a faint memory of meeting Sakakibara. I sense something fishy...

At this point I still wonder if Misaki has an ulterior motive. Of course, she claims that it wouldn't have changed anything ( or at least she believed it before listening to the tape) to reveal the extra student. But this sounds rather implausible. Does she possibly feel satisfaction from the students' deaths to compensate for the loss of her beloved twin sister?

It it really turns out that Teshigawara has killed Kazami then it would be really ironic since they are childhood friends of some sort. We haven't heard much from Kazami since Sakuragi's death thus I would presume that he has actively avoided Sakakibara and Misaki because he holds them responsible for Sakuragi's demise to whom he presumably had feeling for. This could also be the reason for the argument he and Teshigawara seemingly had before the former one died.

Sakakibara made the right decision by examining the tape secretely as it would have resulted in a chivvy if it would have become public that the curse can be stopped by annihilating the extra student and ultimately in a bloodbath. Though, that seems to be what's happening next episode nonetheless.

However, we can't be sure if the measure that is descibed in the tape is crucial to stop the curse or if something else might have contributed to it. There's a possibility that we are deceived by the author of this story on purpose.

Mei is right though. Even if she knew who the 'another' is, it wouldn't matter.

Even if she did know that you had to kill the 'another' to stop the calamity, do you think she has the ability to do it? She doesn't seem like the type.

As for Akazawa, it is indeed odd why she remembers but Sakakibara doesn't. Maybe she's the 'another' which explains why Sakakibara has no recollection of ever meeting her before, but she does? Afterall, the dead don't know they're dead, right? That, and the living don't have memories of that person.

Just my guess.

I'm going to make a wild guess that the countermeasure chick with the twintails (Izumi Akazawa) will die before this series end.

It would have been great if some prick didn't spoil it anywhere. Actually, it would have been great if nobody wrote novel spoilers or manga spoilers. Since the anime came last, it is quite anticlimactic to those who knew beforehand.

Anyway, it's a great ep.

Hmm I can't wait fo the next ep :x I'm also guessing that Kazami is the dead one since he's the only one with blue hair :']

But I was wondering did anyone from the ending die except Yukari? (not sure about one) cause they seem like the "important classmates"
So if not, and Kazami is next (maybe), they might plan to kill the "important" characters in that order :(

(I'm also really grateful that the people who accidentally know who the "another" is keep quiet about it, I really am! Thank you! :D)

Wow. Amazing episode. I'm so scared as to who the dead person is, and how that happy kid killed the guy. It sounds like Katsumi all over again :O (or the guy who died could've been the extra but I don't think so..)
Next episode is going to be INTENSE. Honestly, it's the climax of the show :)
I think the dead person is the girl with the red hair (forgot her name xD)
^ I feel that she wasn't too involved in the previous scenes and because of the flashback in the beginning she must have a big role in it later on.

Shipping News: The SS MeiXKouichi still going strong (and I was also 'eeeeeh?!' for a second when she invited him to her room)

This episode was intense, more than the last.
Also, I'd say the culprit is Miss Twintails with the chandelier in the salon [/cluedo]

And yeah, it looks like murder massacre mayhem is breaking loose next ep. That buffoon will prolly spill the beans about how to stop the calamity and people will kill each other left right and center.

I think this is the second episode where Teshigawara trolled the most important part. I still love him though, I was worried he was going to die but instead he might have killed someone.

Mei knowing the colour of death is also interesting. But like Kouichi said, even if you knew who the dead one is would you be willing to kill a classmate?

Great episode.

Well, if she was right, no one would remember.
So I would kill the extra.

In this episode:
No clichés like the inhaler being empty and having no spares, cell phones being out of range, or the jock making stupid mistakes!

Still loved it.

However, the person who commits the deed apparently has to live with it and won't forget their memories for a while. Sure, Katsumi has forgotten now, but he still has nightmares.

It definitely might turn into a "Battle Royale" now that it's starting to get around that killing the dead one ends the curse. The previews look quite ominous. Asakawa definitely has it out for Mei. You can feel animosity and you just know there's going to be a confrontation soon.

I doubt it'll go as far as BR's plot. But, I do think someone will flip out and start murdering others cause they fear for their own life.

Akazawa seems the most obvious choice, but maybe that IS too obvious (especially the interactions between her and Mei in this episode followed by Mei saying she knows who it is). She fits well as a very important character but not the most important. The fact that she's met Sakakibara before but had trouble remembering and the inconsistencies between what he says and what she and his dad says seem to say that he met her during her actual life and she's now dead. The anime has to clear up the confusion around that in some way at least and that seems the most likely but like I said, a bit obvious.

Not as suspenseful as the other two episodes. Still enjoyable all together, though.

Am I the only one that noticed that in the prologue, they called the student named Misaki a girl, but in some recent episodes (Around 6 - 8) they referred to Misaki as a male? Was I the only one that caught that? :/

Plus, I'm still waiting for the stuff from the prologue to be revealed.

Good episode, shit starting to get serious!

So at least we know WTF happen years ago that stop the calamity, and i predicted correctly you need kill the dead person even that he was lucky as hell.

Akasawa seems to have big jealousy of Mei as she is to close to Sakakibara, even that i like her that was a bitchy move to Mei good they step up for her.

I though for a moment they were going to kiss!!! but it didt happen :(

That photo of 26 years ago i must say it was creepy as hell..i love it!!

So sisters and no cousins...i most say Mei sister was cute i liked that blown hair but it looks everything start in April no May....

Next episode seems shit get serious blue guy got killed at it seems probably someone heard how to stop the calamity and is starting in killing spree...shit will get serious 2 more to go!!!

Good episode. I like the way to end the curse. Much more realistic than i thought it would be(like a magic temple rock or something silly like that).
I assume the guy that died at the end isn't the extra student, nor will be the one who killed him.

I don't mind having things like "my glass eye can predict death." In fact, i like that sort of thing. But thrown in at the end like this? It seems far too late in the show to have such a convenient way of figuring out who the dead student is, especially right after they learn how to stop the curse. I was even laughing to myself after they asked "how can we find out who the another is" thinking that they would find some sort of Lens of Truth item similar to the one in the game Ocarina of Time.

Despite that, i'm really looking forward to the next episode. Seems neat.

It more seemed like his skin was burnt, maybe because he got hit by thunder(?). His skin seemed the same as the guy that got hit by thunder last episode. No idea what Teshigawara would have to do with that, though..

There already was a lot of discussion about this if I remember correctly. It's because the story has been passed on for so many years, the story just HAD to change at some point. There were a lot of speculations about Misaki's death until it was finally revealed in one of the previous episodes that Misaki was a male and died in a house fire. :)

--

Interesting episode. I'm starting to hate Akazawa. It seemed in the preview that someone was pulling her leg and her eyes looked shocked. Will she die? I wouldn't mind.

Other than that.. if you have astma (sorry, I have no idea how to spell it), and KNOW you have to take medicine.. wouldn't you ALWAYS take a spare with you if you're going on a trip? Or at least double-check your regular one to see how full it is? I know often things are forgotten when you go on a trip, I have it all the time too, but something THAT important, that could save your life? Maybe it's just me. :')

I'm quite perplexed that Akazawa is being hated. Actually, I'm quite surprised that no one's bashing on Mei. Even if there's nothing she could do of the knowledge, for her to keep the fact for herself isn't satisfying in itself. Because, after all, her ability gave her the chance to stop the curse firsthand. I love Mei's character; I really do, but such an important thing to be hidden and not given action upon is so wrong.

It's not about enjoyment of deaths either that she hid it. More like it's antipathy. If she does care that much, why would she just let it all be? I know she still doesn't know the solution then, but shouldn't she have delved more?

But, of course, if it's to protect somebody from the hurt...If it's to protect somebody that she hid it...I guess, I can forgive her...But if not for somebody else's protection, such hoarding of information is inexcusable. But then, I guess she wouldn't be able to talk to someone about it before since she is nonexistent, and no one might believe her ability...

Oh well...I still love her character though.

This has already been explained nth times in previous discussions.

Actually, everyone believed Misaki who died 26 years ago was a girl at prologue and first episode because that was what's revealed firsthand. It was only cleared Misaki was actually a boy during ep 5 or 6. It's because of the memory alterations that in the storytelling Misaki was told to be a girl rather than a boy.

Btw Mei's sister was really cute. But now we know that the calamity had started with her death in April. But what's with Mei's green doll eye that can see death? And we didn't hear who the extra student is....again >_<

How can people still talk about "who the dead person is?", it's been quite obvious since 5 episodes back if you notice the details or bothered to look at the facts.

Either way I could not care less for the 'official reveal', what I find more interesting is how they will deal with the situation once possessing that knowledge.
I.e how are they going to kill the dead person (^.^)

Simplest and most logical solution would be providing Mei with a knife and let her dispatch the *anomaly* seeing as everyone else would have no knowledge of this and forget that person ever existed in their time period.
