Is the lack of anything from the Dragon Ball franchise franchise for the GAR Achievement intentional? I mean, that's like the most well known "manly men fighting each other" anime there is, so I'd think it would qualify, but it not already being there makes me wonder.

I haven't seen/finished all of these so it's possible some actually are already counted for Achievements, but if you had missed everything else in its franchise that I had seen, I figured you probably missed the rest too.

Missing mecha:

So I was watching second season of Strike Witches (shame on me, sure) and thought: Hmm, what about an "Ace Pilot" achievement for aircraft (loosely)-themed animes? It would be quite some trouble to get enough titles together, but probably we could scratch up at least fifty.

And now that I think about it, seeing Riding Bean being mentioned above, a similar car-themed one could be made too.

Hota-chan:
This list is in dire lack of some Gundou Musashi.

Hota-chan, what do you think of these titles?^^

Sorry if I doubled something.

And what about kodomo achievement (with something like "An Eternal Child" at lvl 5)?^^ There definitely will be more than 100 titles.

Yep, that's planned. I guess it would be placed where achievements are now, and achievements would be moved one block lower, full-width. I don't know what would fit for its manga counterpart. Manga/manhwa distribution doesn't feel right (most users would have 100% manga).

How about ecchi achievement? First level you could name ''Pantsu Lover'' and the last will be - ''Anemia'' (There is no blood in your body. Need a donor). Or some other joke about blood from the nose.

Only the ecchiest titles should be chosen for this achievement.^^

GAR suggestions:
Kaiji
Kaiji: Hakairoku Hen
You have got Akagi in achievement list, but haven't got Kaiji. It's strange. They almost like twins (both from one and the same author, the same style and atmosphere, etc).
Jormungand
Jormungand 2
Almost like Black Lagoon.
Hellsing
Hellsing Ultimate
Gantz
Gantz 2nd Stage

A power level would be rather humorous. Something like total (show/members)*C. Also, as everyone else has been saying, more achievements would be nice. Maybe favorite/least favorite voice actors and/or directors would be cool as well.

could we by any chance get an option in export to customize our own size and colors of the graph ? It would be very convenient and usefull .

And dunno if it's possible , but is there a way to make a graph in which let's say we have 80 entries with score 7 from which 40 are tv and are in green color 20 are movies and they are color blue and ova's get color red ? that would make the graph more detailed .

You can choose one of the three types (anime/manga/anime&manga) and set individual colors already. The predefined schemes (blue, flame, matrix, etc.) all use the same syntax:

mal.oko.im/export/fri?type=3&bar1=00eecc05&bar2=00dd2200&line1=aaffdd00&line2=aaff0000&back=ffffffff&font1=20220700&font2=90220700&title=00220700&hue=45

type - graph type. 1 = anime, 2 = manga, 3 = anime and manga
bar1 - left/inner bar color
bar2 - right/outer bar color (bars' color will fade from bar1 to bar2)
line1 - left/inner line color (1px thick line between bars)
line2 - right/outer line color
back - background color
font1 - font color for digits
font2 - font color for percentage, 'mean:' and 'rated:'
title - font color for 'Anime' and 'Manga'
hue - hue shift for the small mg icon. 0..359 (default: 218 - blue)

Colors are in AARRGGBB format (alpha, red, green, blue). 00FF0000 is fully visible red, while FFFF0000 is invisible red (yeah).

What about an achievement for completing X number of long titles? Say 100+ episodes for anime titles, and either 100+ chapters or 200+ chapters for manga/novel/manhwa/manhua tities, whichever seems more reasonable without being too easy.

A list wouldn't be needed, as we can just get anime/manga info from the database. "I like them long" sounds like a fitting name for such achievement.

Neat! I wasn't sure if that was something that needed a list or not, but it's good to hear it doesn't. I'd say 100+ chapters for anime or manga, since that way it'd be more fair toward long monthly publications while still being worthy of the achievement.

hey, I just joined to say I absolutely love malgraph!

Two things though:
1. I didn't find the Mean score per decade very useful as it is. I have the 90's highest as I only watched like a dozen (all decent) titles where as I watch all airing shows at the moment and drop the shit ones.
Wouldn't it be better to weight it by the number of items and/or have it per year instead of per decade? that would be more interesting information imo.

2. How about trend lines for Activity timeline? Bars per month are good but it's hard to tell that for instance I finish a lot of stuff in every July because that's when the spring season ends. Or that I watched more anime in 2010 than 2009.
Also, how about some separator line per year (every january)?

1. Weighting is pretty hard to implement properly, and doesn't yield satisfactory results for all users. A good example would be fav genres and studios, where we went through a bunch of iterations to come up with a pretty complicated formula (it'll never be perfect for everyone though).
I appreciate the suggestion, but I think we'll stick with "mean score per decade" instead of making it "favorite decades".

2. The problem with the activity timeline is that there are a lot of users with barely any dates logged on their MAL list. I'm not sure if adding more things to that graph wouldn't bring more bad than good, e.g. making it unreadable or weird trend lines.

I see you're a Forum Moderator... could you use your contacts and try to convince someone to check the logging of start-date and finish-date on MAL? I've noticed that adding series to your list though the "quick add" feature doesn't log any date, which makes me think that's the main reason that a lot of people have almost empty activity timelines.

1. Still, how about "mean score per year"?

2. I was thinking of a checkbox that adds/hides trendlines.

You mean the "quick add" on the side of the anime/manga pages? As far as I'm aware, that adds starting date.

I can suggest things but as far as I'm aware the dev/bugfix pipeline is full for several months

There would be too many years to plot that graph - we'd have to make another full-width box to display that data, except we trim it to the last 10 years or something like that.

I'm still not sure about hose trendlines, I'll ask chrupky about that.

Regarding the date: I just added an anime series to my list using that box. Start date is empty.

I whole-heartedly concur with this. A quick list of over 50 that I have assembled for your convenience.

After spending about 15 minutes assembling this list....yes, you could make a category entirely about baseball. Also, I would be shocked if this list was even 5% of the total number of sports entries.

Just.. i didn't see any answer to it >w< So, is any sport achievement planned yet? *w*

For the "I Like Them Long" achievement, I came up with possible tag lines or quips:

Marathon Watcher
That's Some Dedication, Man
Long Canon Warrior

I also had a question related to something else. Below the line graph for mean scores per decade, there's a section that lets you see up to twenty of the titles you rated for the decade with your highest mean score. Is it possible to be able to view that for other decades as well, or would that be too much work?

Sure, go ahead. More titles on that list is also welcome.

We want to keep the interface as simple and intuitive as possible. I don't know how to fit that much data in a small box (arrows for changing the decade in the popup? doesn't sound good, not intuitive too much, a bit hard to code, longer to generate).

Speaking of ratings per decade, is it possible to set it so that you have to have seen a minimum number of series from a decade for it to be considered in the graph? Something as low as 5 is fine.

I'm asking because I only have 2 anime - both short OVA/movie things - from the 70s, and their 'average' rating creates a huge spike for that decade that does not reflect my opinion.

I'd like to be able to see simply what titles are behind each part and score, maybe not loading initially, but generating said list on clicking each part. Even if it just goes to a details page or something.Don't know how possible it would be.

Could you add a "Most Watched Genres" graph?
Right now, I can find out how many I've watched by mouse-hovering over the genre label in Favorite Genres.

EDIT: Also, when I click on the label it just takes me to all the anime in that genre. Would it be possible to have an option to see only the anime you've watched of that genre? Or would that be too hard to implement?

The problem is not the implementation, because it wouldn't be difficult to code. But if we listed your every single anime or manga of a given genre, the page would render slower and weigh more. There was a suggestion to list titles for each decade, genre and studio. It would be pretty laggy if someone had 300 entries and each one would be listed a few times... There's a reason we only have a few of those lists and limit them to first 20 entries, and that is when it's useful (e.g. you see which entry on your list doesn't have a completion date specified, so you can fix it).

There were a number of manga achievement categories suggested in the Achievement Workshop. Did any sound appealing? Related to that, the I Like Them Long Achievement would probably work great for manga.

Number-of-titles achievements are on their way, along with I Like Them Long. The real problem is that there are three times more manga entries than anime, so I'm not sure if listing all insert_any_genre_here titles makes sense, since there will be a shitload of them. We could limit it to the most "representative" titles, ignoring unpopular ones.

Suggestions based on this thread:
- mahou shoujo (list)
- mystery/detective (code or list? I guess a list would be better)
- romance (code?)
- shounen ai/yaoi (code?)
- games excluding sports (list)
- sports? (code?)

I don't really like the idea of letting the code "decide" on that, since I don't trust genres on MAL, and we would end up with very many titles that aren't related to given genres.
