Let's see:

-Mostly every instance of "high school gal pals" slice-of-life comedy titles that keep getting recycled since Azumanga Daioh. Seems lazy to keep rehashing the same premise just to rake in money from saps for the approach.

-Hentai. Outside of a couple exceptions (Kite and Virgin Night), I won't approach anything within the genre.

-Shounen battle anime- Was a sap for stuff like Inuyasha and Dragon Ball Z in my early days of fandom. But over the years, I've come to see that mostly every title of this type is just whoring money for the makers of the anime/ manga by dragging out the plot to the shows for as long as possible at the expense of quality.

-Yaoi- Have nothing against the genre. But just about every title I've experienced from yaoi thus far is nothing but melodramatic/ angsty tripe with "dominant" and "submissive" character types.

Oh definitely ecchi. I have a very strong dislike for fanservice, I bear with it most of the time but too much of it is a big no for me.

I also tend to avoid any harem anime.

I don't usually care for sport anime, and too much mecha bores me. The things that really bug me, however, are harem and ecchi. I think it's only natural though, since I'm female so there really isn't anything in those genres that would typically appeal to me. I really don't like fanservice in general as well. If I wanted something to get me hot and bothered, I would be watching porno (or at the very least hentai/yaoi), not a "proper" anime.

Ya, same here after a while excessive ecchi just gets lame and boring. Don't care for mecha either.

i can't get excited for mecha, it;s just to unlogical for me, just the fact that they have fights in giant robots doesn't make sense, no army would ever even try to build such a thing. sports anime just kinda bore me. i don't really have a problem with ecchi/harem anime since i'm a boy (and i don't expect them to be logical anyway), i also can't stand fanservice, like the nurse in highschool of the dead, it just ruins the appeal of the whole show

Mecha. To me, most of the giant robot anime look like the toy commercials they used to be (or perhaps still are). And even when they don't, I have huge difficulty getting into any of them.

I also don't love the Sports genre, though I don't hate it either. If the show gives it a more unique spin (like absurdly lucky mahjong players in Saki or cute little girls playing basketball in Ro-Kyu-Bu), there's a higher chance of me giving it a try.

Lastly, ecchi featuring women with boobs the size of milk jugs or larger. Huge boobs turn me off, so chances of me watching a show like that are very slim, especially if all the girls are overly well-endowed.

I don't like mecha/strategy-based anime. I tend to find most of the concepts boring, and it just doesn't interest me.

I also tend to strongly dislike sports anime. And a lot of purely historical (i.e. without a fantasy element or something) anime.

Harem anime: I don't see how watching an oblivious male lead being surrounded by increasingly large amounts of women that all want him would appeal to anyone, other than the fact that most harem anime are involuntarily funny at some times.
And what if all love is an act of bravery?

Could you look me in the eye and say that you are not afraid?

I can't stand comedy, I never truly find it funny and all it does is make me cringe. A few jokes here and there in a series are fine, but even those are getting awful close to the line.

You do realise that you just stereotyped an entire demographic based on a single anime (where he doesn't even say that, he simply desired to get acknowledged by the rest of the village). By the way, I don't understand your way of rating. You dropped GitS, which you gave a 5, yet watched Code Geass R2 when you gave R1 a 2. What the fuck is actually going on in your list?

Yaoi, because it turns me off

Shoujo, because most male character designs seem too androgynous to my eyes. Can't stand it.

Harem, because the male leads tend to be too dense and the females tend to be annoying.

Sports. No actions, no adventures, no gore, no chick, boring! Except if it is martial arts-themed or it features female main characters).
....of all the arts, for us the cinema is the most important.

I have an unwarranted bias to historical anime that take place in ancient japan.
Also pure comedy/parody. If it's not funny to me, there is nothing else going for it.

The only anime that has really turned me off is youth-targeted shounen/martial arts and youth-targeted shoujo. If they're aimed at even teenagers I might be able to get into them. Romance isn't something I watch but I don't think I would hate it if it were well done.

This.

I'd rather run naked through a field of rose bushes than watch Naruto and the likes.

I cannot stand Romance in Anime, well in Action and Adventure animes. I think the female love just gets in the way of the main character. When that happens he either ends up losing her, one of his friends gets killed his trying to save or main bad guy takes love interest hostage.

That's why I love One Piece, Oda didn't do it as he knew Romance would just get in the way.

Harem genre for me aswell. It usually comes down to me really liking one specific girl out of the infinite number of girls that the MC seems to attract. So then I start to get mad when the MC does not pick that girl to fall in love with and make babies

Romance - Because most of the time it's completely unrealistic in anime and tries too hard to give people the feels and just ends up being corny.

Harem - Stupid genre.

Parody...but it depends

Sports - actually, never seen a sports anime, so idk.

I'm not a big fan of mecha with the exception of Geass, Gurren Laggan, and FMP.

Comedy, hands down. Half the comedy I've been shown are not funny at all, I also feel there's no purpose to comedy. One Piece has funnier content then all the comedy's I've tried out thus far, IMO.

Sports- my motto with everything that pertains to sports.. "why watch it when you can do it yourself?" Sports are pretty boring to watch and I wouldn't know how you would make a concrete plot around sports

School life- I have enough school already and I don't need to see more unless it involves a lot of action and fantasy in it

Yaoi- watching people doing nasty stuff is like porn and I'm not into that stuff really for many reasons.

Well sports aren't boring to watch in anime. They don't stay a fixed position away from the players. It's just like any other anime where you get to listen to the main's thoughts, etc.

Just wondering since I've never seen any sports anime.
Does it ever get boring and/or repetitive? Cause it's like the same sport over and over.

Nope, sports anime are pretty damn exciting actually. I don't even like baseball and Touch is one of my favorite shows.

I'm always surprised at how many people don't care for Sports anime, it just seems like something that in a lot of ways fits into the slice of life/school life niche or even the shounen niche. Harem and mecha/sci-fi don't surprise me since they both have real absurdities that can be really hard for people to enjoy. Comedy is absolutely a hit or miss genre off the bat, and I'm not surprised by that but I do want to say that it's real hard to disregard the entire genre based off of a few bad comedies you have seen. As a genre I'd wager it is the most diverse in terms of settings, themes, plots, characters, and qualities. It's all over the place; school, space, fast food restaurants, etc.

I believe it's not the genre, but is actually the given anime itself.. There are lots of good sports animes, but of course some sport genre animes may not be good.. So I believe, it depends on the anime alone, not the genre...

It depends but not really. The mangaka understands that that could happen if it was just similar matches with the same people the whole time. Which is why the main character grows and trains, he usually has friends(so you see matches of a lot of people, depending on the sport), the enemies are interesting, all sorts of moves. Some of them are basically like a shounen.

And you don't even have to like sports to like sports anime. I don't like watching sports on tv but in anime they are more interesting. The creator of this site made a review for the highest rated sports anime on this site(Hajime no Ippo) and basically said that he doesn't like boxing but the way the anime handles it is great.

Since I see you like KHR. You could try Eyeshield 21. It's kind of similar, a weak body and willed young brown haired boy is told that he has a power or strength. And then is kind of forced into the mafia or a sports team, where he eventually finds his place.
