| Loved this episode! Ippo's greatest fans and friends were once his bullies in school! haha Didn't like his opponent in his 2nd fight.. plain cheating with headbutts.. but every episode that goes by ippo is getting better and better :-D |

| Well, someone was right on the money in an earlier discussion thread about the bullies becoming Ippo's fans. I never thought I'd be so hooked on a sports anime, Hajime no Ippo has been great so far. |

I have a friend who's a pro boxer. Unfortunately, you don't make as much money until you really make a name for yourself. Like Aoki and his restaurant, most boxers have second jobs. Average boxers make like $800 for a four round match and participate maybe up to 12 matches a year give or take, but it could vary depending on your reputation and the skill of your manager (if you have a manager in the first place, that is). Not just that, some of a boxers' salary gets deducted to pay for trainer fees and a manager, maintaining and replacing worn out boxing equipment like shoes and gloves and to corner men as your support during a bout. Ippo is most likely saving up after all expenses is paid for. He doesn't seem like the type to splurge on stupid things. He has a single, working mom after all. |

| It was very amusing to see his former bullies turn into Ippo's most ardent fans to the point of being his unofficial hypemen inside and out of the confines of the stadium and for good reason too. Being able to defeat an honorless cheater like that fair and square's not your usual feat! |
