| Hilarious how they add these scenes involving girls (the girl on the bike, and the ero magazine), so we can verify that Ippo is not gay. Because, you know, that would be the end of the world: A likable, strong gay character. :-P |

I did find the girl in the bike very out of place xD I dunno, I thought she looked a bit like a guy in drag... besides, I thought the scene in Takemura's apartment was very realistic. he'd definitely have those laying around and there's no way Ippo wouldn't look at them if left alone with them for that long. I especially loved when he called Aoki to tell him about it XD |

I don't think they are that extreme, even in the run up to the fight, and im sure that they have to take on a hell of a lot of fluids to keep hydrated without eating, so I think Takamura is taking his a little too extreme (hence why he couldn't 'take a piss'). But the training put in is about right I'd think. |

| The fight was pretty quick, I was hoping it would be a little longer heh, oh well. At least Takamura can east as much as he wants now. Too bad Miyata quit the gym although I guess I saw it coming. |

I'd find it more odd if the anime didn't show any girls at all and Ippo's behavior involving the ero magazine seemed pretty normal. |

| Really was put off by the retro-looking character designs, but the thirst for victory in the fighters draws me in. I find myself liking the mood of this series. Struggle, gain, achievement. What a wonderful progression! |
| This show is really nailing the characters right now. In one scene we see how much Takamura really cares about boxing. He struggles with his diet and shadowboxes in the AMs when he can't sleep. What a beast. |

| That fight was underwhelmingly short and I am not sure whether this strict diet sets a good example for impressionable young viewers... BUT I loved seeing the training and Takamura is simply put a really fun character! I am glad we'll see Miyata again, and I am still really hyped to continue watching! |
| Awww.. I guess boxers do diet before their match to prevent vomitting or something like that? That looks like hurt like hell though.. How are they going to fight with empty stomach? Did Takamura just win with one blow? xD That's not going to happen irl.. right? |

| Damn, I was a little worried when Takamura said his opponent had straight KO's in his fights. Thought this was gonna end all dramatic, but thank gawd he won quickly (thanks to that Devil training menu) I felt bad for his hunger ;A; but he's truly inspiring :') Had a feeling Miyata was gon switch gyms :3 I think it's for the best (: I'm really really impressed with this wholesome rivalry. Animes nowadays make rivalry with too much jealousy and hatred. It's nice, indeed. |
| Nice to see Takamura becoming more of a rolemodel to Ippo. His dietary reminded me of that one rival in Ashita no Joe. |

| Until now the series is very good. The ending part remembered me of Joe and Rikishi, I'm very hyped for what will come. |

| I was really worried for Takamura when he started his fight after a night of groaning in pain because of his dangerous diet but all of his training thankfully paid off in the end. This is what professionals have to go through, huh... Miyata might've left the gym but they'll be meeting each other in the ring as pro-fighters soon! I really hope they do. |

| Yeah I'm sure all pro athletes dehydrate themselves before a big event... Edit: Ah apparently the weigh in happens the day before, so you just need to starve/dehydrate yourself up to the day before to try and get a lower weight class I guess. Then you can stuff your face before the match... Still pretty fucked |
