| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I just started watching this series. Now... I can get into a little blood and gore now and again (as long as it's in anime form and not slasher flicks)... but OH.My.GOD. Just five minutes into the first episode, and I was covering my eyes, and gasping loudly, and thinking "Oh shit, what the f*** have I gotten myself into?" The part where she telekenetically just rips that guys heart from his chest... O_o Yeah... awesome... looking forward to the next episode... will probably watch tonight... lol. |

| The first 5 mins of ep 1 are the best and most gory. The next one to look forward to would be episode 4 i think it is. |

| Its very bloody at first because it introduces Lucy but the whole series becomes more psychological and emotional. There is going to be a lot more gorier scenes in the series but people like Elfen Lied for the story and the characters more then the gore. I hope you enjoy the rest of it. |

| i'd have to say that the first episode was awsome.............i mean it was like....it is so cool i mean i luv anime with lots of killing........i could care less bout the nudity*didnt pay attention to that* but i just luv it..........cant wait for the other ones ^^ |
| Yoshi's "Behind the Times" Rant Time! Number 2. (First one was on TTGL) I was going to watch Elfen Lied and Higurashi at the same time (about 3-4 months ago), but I was hesitant to watch the first episode of EL, and it didn't help that Higurashi blew me away. This week, I started the manga (up to Chapter 7/8), so I can keep tabs on both the anime and manga, and see which is better. And it's clearly the manga version. As I kinda expected, the first 7 minutes was pretty mindless, and I liked the way Lucy took out the coffee girl in the manga version. Weirdly enough, I agree with Hounddog. hounddog said: I didn't think it was that bad. It's bloody, sure, but..I dunno. From what everyone had been saying about it, I expected a lot worse. Then again, I'm reading MPD Psycho, and I never want to see that show animated. It makes this show seem kiddy-like. My opinion of the first episode seems negative, but I loved the rest of the episode. The town was beautiful, Nyu animated was awesome, and I liked the seiyuu's and style of the animation. ED was pretty catchy too. |
| Wow... same reaction as the first poster. I was never too much into the gore business of any kind. Most gore I've seen would be Gladiator heh... The story plot is very curious. Can't wait to see how it unfolds. | I finished it a few days ago and really enjoyed it. The nudity, I feel was unnecessary but aside from that it was really good. |

| great first episode. killing spree really rivets the attention. animation is done very well. suond effects are unmatched. |

| Maybe I'm twisted but I thought that was an awesome way to kick off a psychological horror drama (MAL's classification not mine). And I also like it much more when they keep up the mystery of the story rather than just spoonfeeding us the plot. And the nudity? It was just the same two boobs at different points in the episode - they kept everything else non-descript. I wouldn't even say it was unnecessary since it seems they are trying to depict Lucy as being an almost blank canvas emotionally when she is in her Nyu state. Loved it all the way around. |

| The scariest romance anime I'd seen so far xD I knew this anime was gory, but it was a little gorier than I first had thought. Animations are great(although from the Torrent I got, they weren't), and the audio as well. I love the opening... the ending's great too... but I felt it a little out of place, but that might change as I watch more of this. From a sadidstic killer that rips people apart(literally), to a cute loli-like character... under 5 minutes! I wonder what other split-personalities does she have... idk yet cuz I hate spoilers ~Nyuu ^.^ Good so far! |

| Interesting start. Also like most other people that have posted in the topic, the gore and violence didn't really have much of an effect on me at all... If I watched this a few years ago I probably would have closed it midway through the episode and go to sleep (It's 11.20 here) instead of watching the whole thing and then discussing it on myanimelist.net, lol. Meh, maybe I have actually grown up during the past couple of years. (I used to get freaked out by any sort of hardcore violence filled with gore when I was younger). Ok anyways back to the story: Nyu is pretty cool and pretty cute, Kouta and his cousin also seem well made and there is probably the potential of a love relationship there later on in the series. Great episode and now I want to watch the next one =D. 5/5. |

Most of the violence I was cool with, but GOOD LORD that was disturbing when she ripped that cute, clumsy girl's head off and then used her decapitated body to to take the machine gin fire... |
