THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
At the beginning of the chapter was a little boring because it had been centered on useless Yoshida, what gave me nostalgia was a part of Hecate, but the end was very interesting.
Oh yeah, Yoshida now if it will be useful, it will do what many We had wanted in the second season seems to be sacrificed.

Hecate, my favorite character of this show, other than Shana. That was an inglorious end, I always thought that she would be one of the few that survived.

I guess that the part the really caught my attention was Lemi's revelation that he wanted to speak to her again and this true ambition.

Anyway, things are finally getting even more exciting. And now Yoshida is next, or will she survive? Can't wait for next week!

The flame haze are fighting because the world the denizens wish to create is only a temporary fix, in as much as 10, even a 100 or 1000, maybe even 10,000 years, the world they created will effect the real world, the flame haze are fighting for a permenant fix, not a temporary one.

also...
why did i click the spoiler...guess I was expecting nothing after episode 18 like the OP says p'd me off seeing that T_T /cry

anyway next episode ruined aside...I don't think Yoshida is useless...she's the best friend of the protagonist and I believe one of the only people who can do what she's doing...as much as I love Shakugan no Shana I think the fights are all up to standard and everything but like, all these episodes with talking seem to be going to slow and it's like hardly anything happens in them, maybe i would've been better waiting til the whole series is out like i do with 99% of anime. seems better when you watch it in bulk and waiting a week for 30 minutes of story is really fustrating me

Another horrible episode where I feel disgust for the Flame Hazes.

Yoshida having doubts is understandable but Yuji has not really put alot of pressure on her or anything. I'd like to think he isnt forcing her to help him, it was her own choice sort of thing.

All the Denizens heading towards the Star of Darkness was expected, after all it's a gateway to paradise for them to leave peacefully but then of course we get the Gods of the Earth who turn up to make things go sour. I facepalmed when the Watery one told them all to go back to the Crimson realm when she started slaughtering them, are they not leaving for another realm which will leave the Earth unharmed already? What difference does it make if you kill them or not? I really found myself asking that.

The guy in the poncho was worse, he looked to be driven by nothing more than hate and the thrill of killing. This is not how a good guy is supposed to be portrayed, hell even an Anti-Hero is not quite so full of dark intentions.

Shana had very few lines this episode but the few she had just made me think that she is essentially the new nun. I'm sure I heard the nun spouting crap like "We have to stop them because if we dont who will?" sort of stuff. I'm struggling very hard to sympathise with anyone other than Yuji as he is the one sacrificing everything to try and make everyone happy where we have the "good guys" who seem to be out to do nothing more than mindless slaughter.

On a side note, Hecate disappearing for the Grand Order was a bit of a downer, she always was one of my favourite characters but at least she served her purpose instead of a cheap death like im sure some of the generals of Bal Masque are going to have to suffer in the next couple of episodes.

Well, decent one, but still it was enjoyable.
Next ep will be intensified, and I wonder what will Yoshida do seeing that she will use the item she got from Pheles.

The sad part is that her sacrifice will have been in vain when the Grand Order is stopped by the Flame Haze, which is the most likely event.

Aside from the things i have mentioned before, since like others i really don't sympathize with the Flame Hazes, the thing that is bothering me is that assuming they will win which is a predictable cliche plot twist in stories like this how are they gonna at least make it resemble being "realistic" because while nothing about this show is "real" they should at least give reasonable explanation for their turnaround, as i don't see Shana outsmarting Yuji unless they pull total plot BS, because in all the seasons Shana was never the one creating plans, Yuji was so for her first "plan" to beat his seems like BS to me.

The "Gods" really are unlikeable, for me its a split between the crying psycho and the poncho guy, i mean seriously... what about them says "good" when they are supposed "good guys" against the oh so "evil" Bal Masque. Last note is that Yoshida really is bothering me already, she needs to die (not gonna happen, but it really should) i mean her hesitation is fine and all, i would even say reasonable but its everything else that adds up...

This, its the unfortunate ending that seems very likely, yet another reason why i want Yuji's side to win even though i can safely say that i doubt it will happen.

The Flame Haze's fighting reasons are arguable, but to say its for the status quo would be fairly accurate, the Denizens aren't fighting for temporary solutions anyway, the thing is that once they create Xanadu their supposed paradise and live there the link between the current world and Xanadu will be cut off so if the Denizens cause trouble in Xanadu the Flame Hazes couldn't interfere, but like you said it would take thousands of years and them even causing trouble isn't even guaranteed; so here is a question which i brought up last forum. What is better? 10,000 years of paradise and no wars, or an eternity of crap and an endless war which the Flame Hazes have no ending in sight for? granted that question seemed bias but that's more or less the scenario and why most here disagree with the Flame Hazes in general, its like Yuji said of Shana, they are tools in every way and form.

Just like the rest of you I am appalled at the behavior of the flame hazes, and Shana's attitude towards this whole thing has made me hate her too.

I don't think I've ever had an anime that has made me root for the antagonists so much. Yuji is trying his best, for Shana might I add, and the flame hazes are basically just going around shouting "Let's slaughter all the guze!!!" I seriously hope this doesn't have a cliche ending of the Flame Hazes winning all out, and worse Shana making Yuji believe they were right. I'm pretty sure you would see in the news the next day the very first surgery to remove someone's palm from their face.

Still have a couple more episodes to see why the flame hazes are acting the way they are (even though they have given some reasons). They might seem ruthless but so were the denizens for the past two seasons and it's really only the very top that pushed for this paradise, the rest are just going along because it sounds like a good deal to them.

Lol people might be surprised by the true ending.

I can't help but lol every time I read comments here and how off people are at predicting the end. Even though the OP song clearly spoiled about all the major events that will happen at the end, either explicitly or symbolically...

Don't worry, Yuuji isn't letting us down :D

If there is anything this show knows how to do is leaving a cliffhanger that makes the 1 week wait as painful as possible. I LOVE THIS SHOW!

You cant blame them, before the final novel came out no one knew how this was going to end, and needless to say it was a fairly interesting ending that I wasnt expecting but I wont spoil more than this.

I know right i hate flame hazes with a passion. So closed minded and hate change they act like their gods. They all need to be annihilated including Shana. I hate all of a sudden she thinks she a boss but was dumb for the 1st 2 seasons.

yeah, i read the last novel, and i cant help but laugh at some of the predictions people are coming up with, then again, before i read it i was like that too xD. I like the ending, but i wonder if they will change certain aspects of it in this anime.

Anyways, cant wait for next weeks episode.

I was expecting the next meeting of Shana and Yuji to be the meeting from the first episode, given it was supposed to be the final battle, but I guess I'll get surprised again.

Ya and although she was never a favourite character of mine so far... Hecate was just awesome.

I don't understand why people can't see why the Flame haze are fighting, are we even watching the same show?

Xanadu will be a copy of the real world down to the human that lives in it. It will not have flame haze because flame haze are created by lords of Guze that link themselve to humans and even though Yuji can create a copy of the world he cannot just recreate link from tomogara that live in Guze to these corresponding human copy.

The tomogara won't have to eat human as there will be plenty of power of existence in the air but it is something in their nature and no matter for how long they will supress it someday they'll just do it again.

Xanadu will be a closed space. It's like trapping psycho terrorist in a room with all the money and power they want but also a switch to destroy the world. They'll have fun for a while but then they'll press on the switch for fun.
They could go at war at any moments and break the balance and nobody in Guze or the human world would be able to do anything about that, everyone would just die.

The tomogara are barbaric and have been living eating off human for thousands of years. Because we have been shown a few intelligent tomogara that talk about subject such as peace and freedom the whole public have been antagonising Shana and her group, that's a little weak imo.

Yuji's vision is a just a dream and could even be a base to work on a real plan but the way he is doing it and the huge risk he is taking is something very dangerous.

Yuji and even the snake of the festival are good guys but are a bit too much optimist.

Both group should totally talk it over but so far I beleive that Shana's group is the one doing the right thing.

Wait, why wouldn't the Humans/Flame Hazes not be able to do anything if all hell started breaking lose 100, 1000, 10 000 years from now? They'll be just doing the exact same thing as they are doing now! But by then, humans probably will have Gundams to help shoot down those "terrorist" monsters.

Damn, my logic wins.

Human can't fight against tomogara no matter what they do, a simple fuzetsu would get rid of any human trying to do something.
Flame Haze won't exist in Xanadu and neither people from the real world nor Guze will be able to enter Xanadu. That also mean that everyone in Xanadu won't be able to leave it.

Basically Xanadu will be a closed space that can still affect the three world. If the balance is endangered in Xanadu (which will someday for sure no matter how much time it takes) then nobody will be able to do anything.

Maddo_scientisto said:

False. As you will see later.

The Denizens' argument in this case are actually overall stronger than the Flame Haze. Of course, many hidden laws of the new world hasn't been revealed yet so you can't blame the FH

Again, I won't discuss anything due to spoilers...

Short summary: the new world is BETTER than this one because denizens are not longer DOOMED to consume humans. There is actually a NON-ZERO possibility of coexistence. Of course, who are going to reinforce that? Can't spoil too much right :P

i think there are some misconception here. flame haze are no defender of justice they are just keeper of the balance. And problem in Xanadu are bound to happen. Meh even adam and eve still cause problem eventhough they have everything in paradise and it only took 2 people and we got something like millions of tomogara. Problems are bound to happen.

anyway , the Woman from the 4 gods annoy the hell out of me. Hope someone kill her. And did anyone notice yuji and shana are smilling when they met ? i wonder why.

yeahh the 3 remaining of Four Gods of The Motherland showed their powers like a boss

shooting stars; it's like a shower flame from the sky, yeah... stars

morphing lake water into fishes and trap their enemies inside and BOOM they're gone

summon some creepy creature that eat tomogaras, then duplicate for each tomogara eaten.

so the next episode yoshida will use that giralda eh? honestly i don't want her to use that. WHYY?!?!?!?!

I partially agree with this. Are we the only one to feel that this great new world smells fishy?

I mean denizens steal vital force from humans to gain more power. So even in this new world, even if it isn't a question of survival anymore, they can still steal it as they please to gain more power (which in my opinion is the way most denizens are...). Not to mention that in this new world, there will be no flame haze to restore balance to the world and create torsches. So basicaly, you would go about your day, some denizen attack your family and you would see their whole existence disapear right in front of you... That gotta be disturbing, right?
It would be a closed world where denizens could rule carelessly, as they pleased (honestly I can understand why that can seem worrysome for the flamehaze).
BTW, is it me or did Yuji just explained to Kazumi that the new world's endless flow of energy comes from... the original world???

And I am not so optimistic as to believe that the denizens all want to live happily ever after with the humans. Just like humans, they'll use their ressources to the extreme cause they'll always be some who want more than the others...
Not to mention that because of their greed, the denizens would probably destroy the balance of the 3 worlds...

Now I'm not saying I agree with the way the Flame haze think. Just wanting to keep the balance is wrong too. It's obvious something definetley has to change. The denizens should be able to live without having to kill the humans to do so. Shana is so focussed on Yuji, she doesn't seem to realize his vision is good too.

They still can't understand each other after 3 seasons and so many missunderstandings it kills me just thinking about it.

But I can see both points view clearly. I think Yuji is so desperatly trying to save his city (and I mean just his city, isn't it quite selfish?) that he doesn't see the gaps and wholes in his plan. Or does he know the answers and hasn't given them to the flame haze (which is also stupid, he should have explained more the plan).
I just think he's being manipulated by the snake without realizing it. But I gotta say it feels good to see him on the same level than Shana after all this time.
And Shana is so annoying about the way she sees things only through her flame haze vision. She didn't even rejoice of the fact that Yuji came for her at the beggining of the season (after waiting so long for him to make a choice!).
She doesn't take the time to understand the bottom of the problem: denizens should'nt depend on humans to survive and theyr should'nt be able to gain more power from their existence.

Now about Kazumi: I feel like the end is going to be about Shana or Yuji dying, sacrifising themselves for some new world where the remainer will be able to have a regular highschooler life with Kazumi (sorry but I am definetly a 'useless character hater' and she's one of the best example of useless i've seen so far). I know she won't die summoning Pheles in the next one, but that's rather bad news for me. the only thing that would make it better would be for her to survive and witness the final accomplishement of Yuji/Shana's love.

Anyway these are just some of my thoughts ^^.

seriously stop saying how 'evil' Flame hazes are, they care about the BALANCE not about the good nor evil, and no both protagonist's don't want to kill each other, that's obvious since everyone saw that leaked photograph already... D: thanks to wakka9ca for the info! <3 :D

Oh yeah this is getting epic, final fight has begun! Loved the way the battle is starting, can't freaking wait for the rest. The way the three Gods of the Motherland was introduced one by one in the fight was great, made it so intense. Looking forward to see what Chiara do too, really liking her character. Rooting for the Flame haze's side, dno whats up with all the hate on them.

Just when I was wondering when Pheles was going to get involved and what she was planning, the preview shows Yoshida using her pendant. Looks like she's got her mind made up, wow.

Not to mention that in this new world, there will be no flame haze

Ok, can't hold myself further without some clarifications.

Again, that assumption is not really correct lol. Snake never said he denied the new world flame hazes... I feel J.C. Staff did a poor job explaining clearly Yuji's logic.

This is how Snake/Yuji justifies the new world. The new world Xanadu is a STRICTLY better world than the current one, where tomogara no longer need to consume humans. This means:

1 - the current world is doomed because there can be NO compromise with the current situation (i.e. no diplomatic arrangement can be made between tomogara and flame haze because tomogara must consume human existence to survive)
2- a new world starts with a better standing compared to current one because now consuming humans is entirely OPTIONAL. There is possibility of diplomatic arrangements and creation of a system to prevent Tomogara from consuming humans.

People misunderstood that the new world will be governed by tomogara that will do whatever they want. That's not true but I will not say anything more than this because it will be too obvious as spoiler. I think I kinda already spoiled people with this post...

Also, the Snake is NOT EVIL. He does NOT DESIRE the destruction of the world. He only GRANT WISHES. To assume the Snake is trying to backstab Yuji is like saying your computer is trying to kill you (well someday it might... but you get the analogy: Snake is a PASSIVE entity)
bla bla bla
The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

Oh well, I will believe people here and try not to dig anything up out of curious for the better future :D

So Yuji hasn't shown everything yet? This better be good or I am really disappointed. I am not a fan of Shana show but I am certainly really like this direction right now.

This show does a good job of getting me lost some times. I think maybe they made it in mind of people who are true hardcore Shakugan No Shana fans. For a casual anime watcher like myself (at times) am, this can get a bit frustrating.

Awesome episode. That's the 2nd one in a row.

I'm finally enjoying this and getting my good old SnS vibes. How long will this last though? The first 16 episodes sucked so much, this season is nearly impossible to save.

The evil flame haze are once again doing their thing. Hope the good guys (Tomogara) win.

Finally Hecate's purpose was explained. Always wanted to know what she was all about in the previous 2 seasons.

I must say, Eastedge's entrance was epic. The music didn't hurt, either.

Incoming Pheles is great too, always wanted to see more of her.

A great episode!

Farewell Mamiko Noto. *sniffles*
Once again Yoshida exemplifies knowledge beyond anyone else in the anime.
I can't wait to see what actions she takes.

Can somebody post here Eastedge's chant? I'm watching in Russian, but I need the English version too.
