Well it really depends on where I'm getting my manga.
For example, I went to some used book store that were selling manga volumes $1 each and $5 if you were to get 6 of them. Most of the manga there were pretty much ancient, but I didn't even hesitate or bother to look at any of the pages of the manga at all really. All I did was like flipped random pages, looked at art, did not pay attention to what volume it was, I just grabbed over 12 volumes of manga randomly and just bought it for $10.
However, if I were to go to Barnes and Nobles where manga there is over $10 each than I would spend about 20-30 minutes choosing something I would like, same if i were to go shopping online and stuff.

I read them because I watched the anime and found that the manga continues the story on past where the show ended.

I find the title i want, copy and paste the name to MAL and google and check the different reviews and or details, If it's something that i would want to read, i download it. Still, i have been caught out before now, so i suppose that the method could use a change.

I would look at the title and cover, then the description on the back. Just to make sure if I want to read it, I just skim through the pages and look at the art. (I don't really care about the art.)
But most of the times I just look at the cover, read half of the description and just be like "heck i'm just reading this. More manga, yay." But that's only if i'm checking them out from the library. Buying em from the bookstore, I inspect them more closely and read it halfway to make sure if it's going to be interesting. Don't want to waste my money on manga that turns out to be horrible.

I don't often read manga, but when I do, it's usually because I just finished an anime and the manga continues that story.

So it's really only because of adaptation issues.

Normally, I have a couple of rules to find a manga to read:

1. Searching for recommendations
2. Checking the genre
3. Checking the overall rating and the amount of users who rated it

I don't always use all three "rules" everytime but that's more or less my "standard procedure".

description and art,
genre also plays a huge part in selecting manga.
if you have identified a prefered genre choosing and discovering new manga you are bound to love becomes much easier.
art plays an important role so if there is bad art and a good story i find myself in a dilemma
but that is a rare case.

Normally I read manga if its synopsis/art pick my attention. But sometimes, the anime itself pulls me into it. Nah, I couldn't explain it precisely xD

Usually I go by the recommendations of my favorite manga.

But now I normally read manga that catch my attention and try the first 2-5 chapters out, if its worth my time I continue it. ^^

Either I read the description, take a gander at the cover, or pick one out of the genres I like (Yuri, Ecchi, Slice of Life, Action), or in most cases, find one with all-girl cast.

I usually choose my manga based off what I'm in the mood for, I have different interests and moods when it comes to manga.

For example I'm in the mood for a RomCom (Romance Comedy) then Ill go into a search on different manga websites till I find one that peaks my interests, then ill read a few chapters to see if the characters are likeable, there is some kind of plot or purpose, and if the art is decent enough to not be a complete turnoff.

^That's how I usually search for my manga when I have a change of mood and i'm looking for something different. =^3^=

Either from hearing about it from the grapevine or seeing a random picture of it or reading it because it's related to an anime I just watched.

I'll read basically anything except Yuri.

From high priority to low priority.

1. Genre + Synopsis
2. Score
3. Art style
4. Length of manga
5. User reviews

The first thing I do is search up the plot. I usually only read romance manga or one shots so if it's interesting enough i'll read it.

My top three criteria:

1. Plot must catch my interest.
2. If I search around the net for other people's opinion on it, the positive reviews must sound convincing to me. It also helps if the majority of the response has been positive.
3. Art - if I'm just reading the scanlations then I will still read a series with shitty art if it has a brilliant storyline, but if I'm buying the physical volumes I will only do so if the art is to my liking as well.

Apart from that, I also search by genre depending on what I feel like reading at the time, but I will read most any genre if the plot really piques my interest.

First, I make an advanced search because I get different cravings all the time. I look at the art (I'm ok with bad art but I don't prefer it) first and then the summary. I don't care much for the name though unless only the name can be seen in the list. Granted, the name would probably mean more if I could understand it...
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
I might be crazy. So, what's the problem?
