The episode started hard fan service of Rias. it showed how she proceeds to heal up Issei. Was rather interesting but I can see Issei has erection control problems around the time the ritual must happen to heal him. Despite the episode being extendible to give out the whole dating of Issei x Asia it paid off rather well. The following girl,

Was interesting despite being a fallen angel. She sure shows that ass in the spoiler yeah damn that was rather well done. The garter-belt is another thing too. Guess her hair and eyes are interesting as a mixture. Sucker for blond/blue eyes.

The other thing is of course my favourite Exorcist in the following,

That gun licking. OH YES! That was fun. That gun stance in the spoiler that was cool! What was not cool is him getting hit like a moron and not giving out too much damage to the Issei gang. In fact he did not damage them that much at all.

Akeno fan service so let’s talk about her. The ass is quite something, her nipples are quite of a design that does keep me interested in girls in hentais and of course she turns into a Miko of all which really makes no sense since she is a demon.
Anyway I find her breast are more full and better than Rias as a personal opinion.

But that’s not all. There is also in the same BLOG some Asia fan service too. So all in all the fan service seems to never let down in this series. It’s more constant so to speak. Regular. This is bound to sell better if something is constant. Be advised the mixture of myths and stuff in this series is insane and varied a lot. Read Novels.

In thee end Asia’s cross part in the spoiler was done good except that in the manga I though it was more the soul than anything else. Strange this time it is the Scared Gear and the fact her eyes changed does it mean Sacred Gear is fused with the soul or it’s the owners soul that is part of the Sacred Gear and losing it means losing your soul? It kind looked confusing in this episode because to me in the manga taking her soul was more screwed up.

Anyway the fight at the end was worth it for me. May edit later.

Healing is interesting.

The reason that the guy needed to train ended up nothing... because sister is safe. Then eating hamburger and hanging out together. Wow, he's good at catching the doll! She also cured where he got hurt.

The sister talks about how lonely she is until now and she is happy to make friend with him.

The enemy that "confessed" the guy came, and get her away. So his weapon is just temporary doubling power.

So they got the sister to get her sacred gear and sacrifice her life.

PS:

Kick ass video and all the girls look like potential wives. The girls singing in this video are hot Tsubasalover. I wonder if they know what the ED shows or maybe they don't mind it?

They also voice 4 of the minor characters in the anime, if I'm not mistaken (Two of them are YuiKaori, who also sang theme songs to Kiss x Sis).

Edit: I found these two in MAL (Yui Ogura and Kaori Ishihara, a.k.a YuiKaori). The rest of the two are Ni (Arisa Noto) and Mi (Maho Matsunaga).

Issei and Asia meeting up randomly again (perhaps it was fate?) at the beginning was...well...random. In any case, they have a good time together until Uma shows up and causes trouble.

Poor Asia get crucified at the end and loses her powers.

Of course, the ecchi is top notch and attention to the detail is nice.

I actually really like Freed sword x gun(heaven and hell) stance.It remind me of Kirito from SAO .Too bad he is a antagonist(and a battle-maniac ) T.T
His every action really make this episode enjoyable.I guess he is a kind of bad guy that long live and good at escape.Hope to see more of his face soon ^.^

Everything is done too fast.If only they can just slow down a bit to build up the tension, this series would be better imo =p.

The pronunciation of "boost" sound like "USo" which make it a bit laughable. I wonder is it voice by Madao....

Issei got payback on Freed, that punch was awesome, but man Freed is so annoying, I hope he gets killed at the end of the series. Toujou throwing pews at Freed was lol.

Asia and Issei's meetup was great until Uma spoils it and takes Asia away. She got kicked out of the chruch for healing a demon and had to be with those fallen angels, she didn't deserve such a fate.

That new fallen angel in gothic lolita garb is annoying.

Akeno's transformation is nice, she looks sexy as a Miko.

Poor Asia she lost her powers and got crucified in chains, why does the sweet ones has to suffer so much?

Asia intermissions were good, needs more bare tits but that's for later.

They are under 20 (age), I think. (or I should say, almost 20)

Yep, and Yume didn't realize Yui isn't even 18 yet.

Episode went by really quickly O_ o I thought they will just introduce the fight and then wait for next week... i guess this is good?

I'm not liking Issei's sacred gear. It really doesn't fit this Anime, it seems way to out of place and "hi tech" or something along those lines.

I'm liking this show just like the LNs. HOPEFULLY they reach the next arc soon cause I can't wait for that ^^

Argh, the episode ended just when it was about to get interesting. :( I'm tired of the sacred gear blablabla, needs more pew-pew and Asia x Issei action.

Issei's sacred gear has finally starting to improve since he has already unlocked Rook abilities, i wonder how much more can he attain. Akeno's transformation was amazing, i finally got a good glimpse at her nips.

As for the chess pieces:
King - Rias
Queen - Akeno
Rook - Koneko
Knight - Kiba
Bishop - Asia (i can tell that Asia will become one of them and she perfectly fits the role of a bishop)
Pawn - Issei (poor guy)

overall, it was a good episode

I think they really should've made this show in 24 eps instead of 12. The pacing is a little hectic. Yet knowing that I need to wait another week until ep 5 SUUUUUUUCKS!!!!!!! So having to do that 24 times would be worse :)
I've said it before, even if they did away with all the ecchi-ness (that friggin' club room must be really cold xD), I'd still watch it for the story. Maybe not entirely original but I'm enjoying it nonetheless!

Oh I have a question. I usually watch this in 720p and it looks great, but this particular episode wasn't smooth on my 120hz TV. I downloaded both the subDESU and Hadena releases and neither played as smooth as usual. To make sure, I loaded subDESU's ep 3 and it was much smoother!
Anybody else notice this? It's almost like there's 1 too few or many FPS so the 120hz isn't working properly.


Needless to say, I watched the ED of ep 3 instead LOL

Despite it being fanservice up the ass pretty much, I love this show. It's one of the few that I actually look forward to seeing.

I thought that the chess thingy was only a metaphor but it look like it was taken seriously. I like it.
So basically a demon can chose which part of their power to lend to people.
The rook has pure strengh
The knight has barrier related power
Bishop wasn't mentioned yet? Probably going to be Asia.
The queen is a spellcaster
The pawn has the ability to be a rook, knight, bishop or queen at will but with less power than those that are only focused in one area.
That's where Issei's sacred gear will become dangerous, once mastered he'll probably be stronger than everyone in their respective area and he'll be able to use all of these position's power.

Which make me wonder is Risa strong at all?
The way I see it a King is weak but use his many pieces to win the game. Risa may give her power to other in the purrest of the sense when they make them into her pieces.

^Correction, Knight is focused on speed.
Can't remember the Bishop but I it's spellcasting as well.
And there really isn't anything mentioned about the King's abilities other than they are the ones who give out the chess piece powers to the devils

Good lord, I knew this anime would be incredibly stupid, but I'm watching because the Bishoujos are so damn hot and we get quality uncensored tits, but damn the MC is in the same level of retard as all the other Harem idiots.

Bah...I just gotta remind myself that Rias is worth tuning in every week.

Oh yeah I just rewatched the episode because I had watched it real fast the first time.
I think that Rias have to give her own power to her piece.
So far she has one rook, one knight, one queen and one pawn.

How to say it, I think that using number to squale thing is dumb but maybe it'll be a better way to put what I think than into words.

Rias made a contract with Akeno and gave her 70% of her spellcasting ability to makes her a queen.
She made a contract with Kiba and gave him 70% of everything related to her speed
She also made a contract with Koneko and gave her 70% of her defense power
She then made a contract with Issei and gave him the remaining 30% in every area.
I think that now Rias only has 70% of bishops related ability, basically healing ability.

I also think that Asia will join the family and Rias will gave her the bishop position as well as the rest of her power. Either it will replace her sacred gear or either it will strenghten it.

I like this theory because i'm kind of tired of seeing demon in anime that can give an unlimited amount of power to everyone where as here it would be more natural. Giving power should mean decreasing your own.
Rias is a king, the weakest and most vulnerable piece but also the one that control all the other one.

I could watch this show for the naked girls visuals but it even has great action too.

At least the main character knows he's weak and tries to better himself. Unlike some of the author leads who take forever to and then all of the sudden they have a 180 degrees spin in personality (j.e. Shu).

i was actually considering dropping this show but this episode actually surprised me by being pretty good; it wasn't amazing or anything but in my opinion much better than the previous 3; its a shame really because there are so many shows like this one where the excessive fanservice simply ruin the potential plot; I'm not against fanservice or anything but sometimes toning it down wouldn't hurt anybody. That fallen angel Yuuma gotta die; enough said



This, Issei technically died before becoming one right? maybe she actually did die at the end of this episode then? well whatever the case, the end result will be the same 100% she will be a devil.

I was really hoping to see Issei do something amazing, but it looks like we will have to wait.

These harem-battle MC are ALL weak and they always bitch and whine about being weak, instead of quietly doing their role.

He's brand new to being a devil but he acts like he HAS to be the hero, all the other members are experienced and much stronger than he is.

He needs to quit bitching and be a team player.

But of course that's not the way these Harem-battle anime are done!

They always make the MC weak as shit and he mysteriously wins, it's fucking irrational and annoying.

Thus far have we seen anything that would suggest that the devils are the bad guys? It strikes me that all of the mayhem, torture, and killing is being done by the other team. Asia it's time to change sides girl.....

Rook - Pure defense and strength
Knight - agile and speedy
Bishop - support the other pieces
Queen - ulitmate piece besides the king; has the stats of bishop, rook, knight, and pawn
King - best piece on the board
Pawn - weakest but has the ability of promotion and attain any power of a piece besides the king

This is the basic roles of the pieces of chess. Rias is still quite powerful though she does give up something in return I won't say but you'll have to wait and see.

Because you actually expect a highschooler that live for boobs and never entered a single fight in his life to actually fight on par with demons and fallen angels that obviously had years to master fighting technique and their powers and that on his first few fight?
Of course when you get dragged on the floor, almost killed thrice, couldn't save the girl you took a liking to you aren't going to seek to get stronger!
That's called being the viewer.
We see the character thought, of course he'll think that he is weak but that is not whining about it. He's not going to Rias or anyone and complaining about how weak he is, he's sucking it up and is ready to train and that is something that should be praised.




He doesn't act like he has to be a hero.
There is a very big difference between entering a fight on your own will and getting dragged in a fight.
Of course he could hope that if he put his tail between his legs and start running that the fallen angel will not care enough and won't snipe him with a spear from distance. I don't know but if it was me I would rather die trying to protect someone than dying by running for my life.

After Rias saved him in ep3 he asked her to save Asia but she told him that she didn't want to.
You need to get in your head that Issei is not used to all these new people and this situation. I'll put it quite simply: His business is not the other member's business. It's not because he want to save her that the other will be obligated to go risk their life for this purpose.
He planned to go alone and I probably would have gone as well; it's not trying to be a hero it's just not wanting to feel guilt.




He didn't bitch and he was the first one to ask Rias to help him to save Asia. It's not like he had any means to contact Rias in the other situations.



Actually if that sentence was only refering to the sentence before it then yeah it's the way this harem-battle anime is actually made.


You are forgotting something.
MC was human like one week ago at max.
No matter if he was a professional wrestler or someone considered strong in the human world he would be someone insignifiant next to demon and angel.
He got power from the highest family of demon, possess a sacred gear that multiply that potential and has the ability of all the club members.

Now you could have said that it's retarded that he suddenly was able to control it for a moment and I would agree with you but there's nothing mysterious and irrational about it.
It's not like he did tricks, he just ran and touma punched the opponent, oh lord what a beast.
And of course you know how controlling magical power work.





The plot is pretty much average so far but the most retarded thing in this anime is the boobs, not the plot. The story is much more consistant than most harem-battle we've seen in the last 3 years.



I agree with you: Issei is a lame and stupid lead but he is a consistant one for a change.
Like I said, your reason for hating are bad, it sound like you were desesperate to paint the show worst than it actually is and that gave birth to your post.

Great plot so far. I am actually looking forward to next weeks episode. Like others I thought this week went too fast, goes to show that this anime is worth seeing :)

I agree this plot is average and consistent to what we've seen, that's why I said that almost all Harem-battle anime are done this way.

So far the only thing I hate is the retarded MC, I agree with you that the story is consistent to what we've seen from Harem-Battle anime.

However, I'm here for the quality ecchi (it's not that great, but it's the most ecchiest anime of the season, and the girls are pretty likable/entertaining so I'm good), but while I'm at it, I'll also put in my two cents on how stupid the rest of the show really is.

Well, whatever, if I sounded too critical, it's probably because I'm very cynical towards anime like this when it comes to story.

The last harem-battle anime that I really liked for the story was HighSchool of the Dead.

Yeah, the story is horribly cliched for hollywood, but we've never seen that in anime, the MC (Takeshi) was a great lead and it although it had the feel of a blockbuster movie instead of an anime, I loved how the characters interacted with each other, which until now I can't say the same for this anime.

Although, who knows maybe it gets better, I hope it does, although I think my hatred for the MC will probably continue once I saw the preview for next episode :/

After doing some small research.I realize that Ishibumi(the author) write horror novel instead of love comedy before this.I wonder what makes him to change his mind writing stuff that related to Oppai(boob) . weird guy lol

He is willing to quit being Rias' pawn just to save Asia's life, so that Rias won't get into trouble because her chess piece provoke the fallen angle.
Anyway,I think everyone has its right to die for his own love one(friend).He knows he gonna die, but it is better than living like a coward watching someone he love died .
If Rias know that he can't beat those fallen angel.She would had lock him up inside a room and forbid him from going on a suicide mission.Rias even support him fully by indirectly asking Rook and Knight to be in his side.Everything is well planned by Rias(Chess player) .

He just want Asia to be his friend,but turning her becoming a devil companion is called "conversion", and Issei will not force/convince her to do such .He is a nice guy =)
