THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Second part is also good. Less action, more sci-fi and the cliffhanger in the end - did they plan to continue the series? It's pity that they didn't.

take off your clothes or you'll get burnt alive!

Yeah looks like they were planning on bringing in a serious antagonist with that mystery guy. Bit silly but hard not to like, wish they'd made more. The girls are both foxy and quite awesome

Seems like they were going to make more, but that never happened because it wasn't popular enough.

Yet another OVA ending with cliffhanger.

I really feel sad when I see lots of OVAs from 80s and 90s which remained oneshot or prove of concept. They had lots of potential to be developed into a series or gotten few more episodes around the bigger plot they had planned ,but it never materialized, leaving us these unpleasant cliffhangers .

Very good OVA, deserves its status as classic. But like many of its kind, it was discontinued for unknown reasons (most likely squabbles among the producers, like so many of them). There's the remake, at least.

Is the posterior 6-part OVA the remake you mention?

Yeah. It's pretty good, and it keeps most of the original style. It's also one of the very first digital animation anime that came out, and yet it looks better than pretty much anything nowadays. It's worth checking out.
