I was sad cuz comedy of the final episode was not funny. That episode was rather weak for the ending. Other than that, I don't understand why you felt sad. They left for new lives.

The plot of the whole story was unique and interesting, but the mediocre ending was a bit disappointing. Yuzuru and Kanade reminded me of Teiichi and Yuuko from Dusk Maiden of Amnesia.[/quote. Evathabeava says " that does make much sense to not cry but it did not have a weak ending to me they went to get a second chance of life . If you saw the very very end of episode 13 it shows they meet each other and he grabs "angels"shoulder so therefore do not call this a bad ending more like they may make season 2

I was quite sad at the end, but with that after scene on the sidewalk if was content and happy. though whenever i think of the ending it tears at my heart. id suggest watching lots of funny shiz. right after angel beats i watched hidan no aria which has the comedy + action element. definitely lifted my spirits eh?

man I hate watching sad endings, first 4 episodes I thought it was gonna make me laugh until I got ulcers, but damn 10 episodes in it kept gettin sadder and sadder by episode 13 I actually felt a bit weepy... thats probably one of the only animes to do that to me... I'm gonna watch a comedy now.
agree with javierR there really isn't anything they can do to make a season 2 unless prequel or something?

I was explaining the show to someone, and watched like the last 5 minutes and was sobbing once again by the time the credits came up. I realized I wasn't really crying completely over the show, but just the concept of life, death, and acceptance. At first, I thought the ending scene was needed to just not fxck up everyone's experience with the show but then realized it may not have been needed just from Kanade saying "Living is beautiful."

Not everyone can catch that she could be referring to reincarnation just from that because if they weren't going to be reincarnated I'd think she'd say something about letting go or moving on. Oh well. Still one of my favorites. If you didn't cry then it's cool, your experience with the show has nothing to do with mine. o:

Every one finds something sad in life. This one one had me in tears by the end. but the worst part is how it leaves us with just a tease. I want to believe it was a happily ever after but the is no closure to be had. the taped her on the shoulder did she remember him, did they retain their memories? I think a season 2 could be done but it would be a totally different environment. I think we can kids with guns in the normal world would be a no go but a school mash up with them actually attending a real school could be funny.

i know its not going to happen just saying what it could be if someone ever made a reboot in the future

A tip to get over it, read a comedy manga or watch a comedy anime.

Try that ^

Grow up. It's a work of fiction.

As for something a bit more helpful. Go watch something happy and uplifting, probably something in the vein of slice of life and/or comedy.

One does not simply say it is only a "work of fiction", Angel Beats! was a wonderful master that touched the hearts of individuals.

I don't understand how did some people feel sad or even cried while watching this... I honestly didn't feel almost anything. Maybe it was because I watched this after I had watched Clannad, idk.

This show was simply a comedy for me. It had so much potential, but I feel like it was wasted on goofing around. In the end, it felt like they did nothing during the 13 episodes.

Watch the OVA ending.

Though the ending did touch me which is hard to do. It is a show what deserves 26 episode and not just one season. 13 did not seem enough. Kanade is one of the likable characters you could see in a anime.

I agree with you, 13 episodes aren't enough, the plot doesn't develop some characters' stories (like the dancing man or the "shinobi girl", i don't remember their names :3 ). Some potential is wasted that's true, but it's still a good anime to me :3

Mainly because the series cops out. It's hard to take the drama seriously if they are all just going to be alive in the end anyway. It makes everything feel like cheap melodrama.

I've seen this series 3 times 2 in subbed and another dubbed. The first time through I cried both when Yui disappeared and the ending, second time I was better and their almost no tears at all. But just watching it makes me want to cry especially certain parts.

i was sad yes but only cuz the anime is a rushed overrated piece of turd, should have been 24 eps but i like the music and yui's scene was touching, so was the part where the main chaacter, forgot his name, got trapped in a tunnel and died but not before getting all the ppl to offer their organs as donors and ironically immediately after he died they unblocked the tunnel, which is like dem feels anyway not enough development given to the blue hair guy with yui the music sucked for the most part cept for the opening this song and all the songs sang by whatever her name girl was with pink hair who disappeared in like episode 4. yea kind of came out of nowhere. the main girl too much like suzumiya haruhi was kind of felt like a rip off, now that's an anime that was dun well holy crap now I'm just thinking, if only kyo ani was to have made this show, would have been amazing, still was an enjoyable watch 10 / 10 makes me want to play the vn but i usually dont like to put up with all the bs like in kanon the vn god do they drone on and on and repeat theyre silly jokes , ok like funny the first time but God do you need to keep repeating it, for exmaple the jokes with nayuki being sleepy or makoto doing the night time prank any of that shit like it was funny the first 3 times but by the 10th time im getting bored ya know but I do like mai kawasumi, she is cute and as a bonus u get sayuri who is awesome ("aha") and in the 2006 anime her scene was extremely tragic. here i am talking about a kyo ani anime again cuz god they were good. amagi brill park was kind of forgettable tho but funny at times, cant wait for their next show. i alwyas like their music too. which brings me back 2 angel beats. the best songs from this show imo are this (the original tho with piano), yui's song (ichi ban no takaramono) cuz god is it passionate and touching srsly one of the best anime songs to come from an anime. crow song is also fuckigng good (fly away). speaking of overrated trash with pink haired girls, elfen lied. god that was another rushed mess that every1 apparently loves. so it seems the forumula for amazing anime = pink hair, cute girls and sad music heh? no wonder the anime industry is going to shit with moe trash. not that i dont like moe trash as u can see my pic is of nymph from sora nootoshimono wihch also has a pink haired girl as one of the main chaarcters, but i like nymph more, nymph is best. if you havent watch sornao aotomsino then go ahead and watch it right now, you are missing out til u do, NO it's no hatsune miku (thou thats the reason i became interested in sora lol) cuz miku is awesome, anyway to put it shortly this anime sucks
Shoot first, think never.

I personally enjoyed watching Both Angel Beats and the entire Clannad series but the problem I am having is I've fallen into a severe depression over the fact that I feel my life is not to standard or ever will be in comparison to the characters in these story's.

Please if anyone els shares these feelings I would like to speak to them because I do not know what to do with myself anymore, I have lost the will to seek acomplishment and no longer thrive to live.
I know some will believe that it's just a show a fictional creation that has no true purpose to our lives and that I should just get over it but the Anime's Most likely weren't the problem but the catalyst to my realisation of life.

I hope I can find some one who shares these thoughts and thank you to those who take their time to read this through.

Why is this considered sad? The so called heart breaking ending didn't make me feel jack. The development of their relationship was way too crammed in my opinion. Something like shigatsu wa kimi no uso is way sadder and actually made me feel something I came pretty damn close to crying.

Probably gonna have some whacked out dream now of Shin Sekai Yori characters trapped in Angel Beats Afterlife now.

this was one of the worst animes i have ever seen. I was expected to be all sad and stuff going into it, but what a letdown. How can i be sad over such underdeveloped characters? Its stupid that anyone can actually cry from such bad writing. I was really expected to be really sad at the end and even watched the whole thing in one day just so I could get the most out of the sadness. I was suppppper disappointed in the end. Just what a trashy plot, characters, and overall story. It had so much potential, but didn't follow one bit of it. If anyone cries over this piece of garbage, you truly have no sense of anything at all.
