| My grandmother :/ I live with her, so she has learned to live with it. She thinks that anime/manga are demonic. I probably didn't help that the first anime she saw me watching was Devil May Cry. So she believes whenever I watch it that I'm gonna get possesed or something XD My mom, on the other hand, is okay with it. The only anime she knows is Sailor Moon.. She's is pretty supportive about my otaku-ness. She even stood in line with me for 45min to get a poster at a con :') |

| My friends: Not really, since most of them watch some/used to watch anime. My family: Sometimes. It's usually when the anime has bright colors or moe/bishoujo girls, that's why I try to avoid watching it in front of them. Although I've noticed they don't bother me if the anime has a darker or more adult feel to it such as Monster or Berserk. |

| i dont try to impose animu/mango on other people, but im guessing it means when people comes to me and say I should stop, are the ones that dissaprove, which are 1. my professors 2. some best/close friends that i always hang out with 3. some co-workers, they keep a distance with me and spreads gossip (annoying bitches) but im glad cuz all my parents all love anime, my dad loved anime in his era, like space battleship yamato, city hunter, astro boy, my mom loved spirited away, but they are both open to more and every type of anime(except for hentai) EDIT: welcome to MAL, xDiVAnTe! |

| No one really disapproving here. My mom likes pretty much anything thats animated (YES!) so anime is no problem (except she doesn't like japanese voices). My dad doesn't care at all, he sees me watching it and pretty much ignores me. Most of my friends know i am watching it so no problems there either. Although some think it's a bit weird, but oh well, not my problem. |

| I dont think anyone knows that I watch anime. If my brother found out though he would definitely say something negative about it. I witnessed a number of people getting flammed in RL about watching anime because they think its all hintai. Seriously if these people would give it a try they would realize that the stories in these shows are 100 times better than anything they would normally watch. |
| My parents and friends know that I watch anime. I can speak freely with my friends about a new anime I'm watching. Some of my friends still watch anime but not as much as I do. Yet, one person said I could waste my time with something useful instead of anime but I don't care about other's opinion. If you really enjoy watching anime then ignore the obstacles. |

| i'm 21 and don't live at home.. my parents either dont know or dont care (not sure) i live in a big house with 2 male room mates, i gotten so many of my friends into anime but my room mates wont budge. they arent interested in it and i cant get them to watch it. they are both closed minded pigs. obviously they dont tell me not to watch it and they dont judge me for it.. i think they assume that im into hentai but i dont care. we all just have a good laugh one of my friends watches one piece every sunday with his mum and dad, and 2 little brothers. they all watch anime, its cute as fuck |

Though my mom only knows about Inuyasha (I drove my parents mad with that show when I was 13yo) and every time she sees me looking at anime she pops the question: "Are you looking at Inuyasha again?" T_T I had some friends laughing because they thought anime was childish until I showed them some scenes from Ninja Scroll and Elfen Lied. Totally changed their opinion. |

| everyone disapproves of my anime interest. friends, family, whomever, not that it stops me though. oh and by disapprove I mean they just think its weird. if fact when i tried to get my friend to read a spice and wolf book because I told him he would enjoy it, he refused simply because of the "anime like" drawing on the front. Too bad for him though. |

| I usually try to keep it a secret for the most part. I am just tired of explaining basic things to people. Even among anime fans you still get BS shit like why do you like X show, they just need to stfu. I hate those paladin types that say crap like "you shall only like quality anime it doesn't matter if you like it or not" so naturally if you aren't even in the same domain, you have to argue against worthless shit arguments endlessly. no matter what you do they seem to just deny it. I think this is more of a problem with everyone rather than just anti anime. pro anime people seem to be too anti for non anime if you ask me. You all know those types who are like :OMG ALL HAIL ANIME. or NARUDO IS TEH BEST! Its hard to tell even if they approve or disapprove it. I sort of feel the my bro disapproves it even he watches anime himself, he just watches different types. I think everyone has mixed feelings about everything lol thats kinda vague but w/e. people try to say things like oh that guy likes anime he must be like me! when that isn't really true at all. its the same with sports, two people may like handegg(american football lol) but don't get along because they root for two different teams, people pick out differences too much rather than similarities. In the end its up to you to decide whether or not somebody disapproves of something you are doing or not, you might just say "oh they must not really know a whole lot about it" rather than thinking they are closed minded. Try to find a general common thing like they might like cars or something, or hyper violence. then you can show them according anime. |
