According to the official website, Shinkai Makoto has produced a TV ad for Japanese construction company Taisei Corp. It's about a woman who works for the Marmaray project. Actress Kurokawa Mei plays the woman.

Shinkai produced another TV ad for the same company in 2008. It was about the construction of New Doha International Airport.

Brilliant, just like all his other works.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Pretty but with little plot or character development, just like all his other works.

The fact that he's animating real world locations makes me wish the world is as colorful as he portrays it to be.

...in a 30 seconds TV advert. Well, yeah.

I was poking fun at Shinkai's works as a whole. Sorry if it flew over your head.

i was more inclined to think he was making an anime rather than supporting a tunnel project no one likes half a world away... but money is money i guess
"Forged in darkness with wheat harvested from Hell's half acre. Baked by Beelzabub; slathered with mayonnaise beaten from the evil eggs of dark chickens, force-fed to dogs by the hands of a one-eyed madman. Cheese boiled from the rancid utters of fanged cows. Layered with 666 separate meats from an animal which has maggots for blood."

That had some really nostalgic feeling to it.
I think it's a good way to make some money between the big projects.

And I was implying there's some degree of pettiness in using a TV commercial to make a negative point like that. I'm not the biggest Shinkai fan but, c'mon.

You're not very good at this implying business, I must say.

Well, it certainly looks pretty. The guy's art direction is really nice, thus I believe it was a well done ad.

I agree haha even though I'm a huge fan, but damn his animations are just way too stunning, never ceases to take my breath away.
