Most anime with good stories can't be watched twice =/, for me anyway

This. Especially for the ones that got me really emotional, like I cried for them, such as:

Clannad: After Story
Barefoot Gen
Air (Movie)
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo - I might, though, for the comedy in it, even if every other part makes me tear up.

(Some sad ones, but I didn't cry) parts of:

5 cm. Per Second
Angel Beats!
Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World
AnoHana

and:

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Yu Yu Hakusho - It was so amazing, I'm afraid I won't love it as much the 2nd time around. That goes for any really good anime I've seen, but especially for this one.
Fullmetal Alchemist - Same as YYH, but I probably will, anyway.

What's with all the people saying Clannad? I don't understand this. I rewatched that. The pointless parts were even more pointless but the good parts were still as good. I also rewatched Kanon 2006 and Air even twice...

Also Monster was mentioned twice already. in my opinion this is one of the shows where you get so much more out of it when watching it the second time. You get a lot of things you missed the first time.

Maybe I'm a bit biased, since I'm an avid rewatcher. I do it all the time. Especially the shows I really liked, whether they are heavy on the story side or not. Watching them a second (or even third, fourth...) time is almost always as anjoyable to me as the first time. Mainly because, as mentioned above, you almost always notice something new.

Generally I don't re-watch anime, just for the sheer fact that most of the shows I watch rely heavily on drama and suspense, and once you know what happens, watching it a second time just isn't the same. Shuffle! is a prime example of this; I already know who Rin ends up with so all the bullshit in the beginning ends up being boring and pointless.

One exception, for me at least, was Clannad. I re-watched every episode of the first series and AS and all the OVAs too. It still had the same effect on me the second time around. Not without reason though, I re-watched it after about 6 months so I'd forgotten everything that wasn't significant.

Also, definitely long animes like One Piece and Naruto are good but not re-watchable just for the sheer fact that they're long and nobody has that much time on their hands.

Because, while you might be able to, most can't get that same feeling back. The main selling point for Clannad was the emotional value toward certain scenes when they happened, and rewatching it can really kill some of the effects and memories toward certain scenes.

I don't rewatch anything... it holds no enjoyment for me when I know for sure whats coming.

So I guess every anime I've ever watched and given an 8 or more to.

I'm not watching LotGH again anytime soon because of the length. Heck, it took me an entire summer to watch that masterpiece in the first place!

But I've rewatched shorter shows like Eve no Jikan, Honey and Clover, and Planetes; they were even better the second time around.

Kinda hard for me to re-watch drama anime (Slice of life dramas), like Clannad, Air, Kanon, Angel Beats and also Ga Rei Zero

Ano Hana is definitely one... there were what 3 episodes of people standing around crying? it would be one thing if it had lots of humor or romance to balance things out.

I actually really want to rewatch barefoot gen and grave of the fireflies.. it has been over ten years..

Any anime with huge plot twists or emotional moments that could only be felt the first time around, like Clannad AS and Gurren Lagann.

5cm per second was great but too sad too rewatch again. You only get that feeling once when you watch it the first time, but I'm not sure if I would if I watched it again. Slice of life/dramas are too depressing.

I have to agree that Clannad after story wouldn't be the same if you watched it a second time. But I would not mind re-watching the first season of Clannad =P.

I have no clue if this topic was already made but here we go! (If it was feel free to lock this thread mods!)

So basically name some Animes you have watched, and really enjoyed, but wouldn't want to watch it again.

2 Animes from the top of my head are Clannad After Story and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. Both are in my top 10 but I wouldn't want to watch it again. I just feel it wouldn't be the same... if I did. =s

True its not the same. But you still will laugh and cry. I've rewatched all of key's work and never fails to amaze my emotions.

Nearly everything on my list... even my favorites. It's not that I don't want to, I just don't have the time or the patience to go through it again.

I have re-watched some animes again, but their mainly movies or really short TV series. I have some anime commitment issues... :S

I rarely rewatch anime. The story of an anime is just not as special when watching it the second time, so unless I really like the characters of an anime and it's not a genre like detective (where predictability is a huge factor) I might give it a rewatch. But there are so many great anime out there and I feel like I need more time to watch new anime, so I don't really bother with rewatching anime. An example of an anime I wouldn't rewatch would be something like Monster, or Code Geass.

I would not rewatch anime like Code Geass & Death Note. Those strategical anime cause I would had known what happened and the excitement rate while watching would decrease. But I would rewatch them again when I've totally forgotten the whole story, which is, unfortunately, unlikely to happen cause I really like those type of anime.

Hmmm... nope. You're wrong, sorry.

Sure, at first it seems the thriller makes up for it, but I've rewatched DN many times and I'm still entretained by it. The scenes are very good on their own, they don't need the thriller factor to make them good.

Kaiji, of course.

All the twists made for a great first run, but I don't think it has much rewatch value once you know how the twists go.

Lol, I just told myself a couple of days ago that I need to rewatch Durarara. Mostly because I barely understood anything that was going on the first time around, though.

Agreed. I loved Kaiji's 1st season and all, but I don't think that I'd enjoy it as much as the first time if I re-watched it.

True. But these are really subjective. I think it depends on personal interest so there's actually no right or wrong to it :)

I would rewatch any of my top anime; I already have for some. Watching an anime for the second time helps me appreciate it a lot more. I never fully experience something the first time though. Hell, I didn't even like Clannad-- much less realize it brilliance-- until I rewatched it.

Hm... maybe I will add Kanon (2006) to my list. It was very similar to Clannad, good, but I just can't imagine myself watching it again.

- Clannad / After Story
- Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
- Kanon 2006
