Woohoo!!! I have created many accounts here, but I know this (current account) that I use is the real deal. Anyway, I was wondering on why MAL always had different pages in Wiki throughout the years.

"Along with an active and engaged audience, MyAnimeList is free of the pirated content that has plagued much of the anime industry, according to Dodge. "The industry is going through challenges in terms of copyright issues, like the music industry," Dodge said. "MyAnime is a very clean site not based on stolen material, which obviously appeals to us and advertisers.""

That was off one of the news citations...
really? isnt most of the pictures links, club stuff subject to copyright and how are you going to crack down on the illegal stuff? ...Probably one fool at a time right? :)
...good luck with that.

Then again, im 95% sure they're just referring to the torrents and other high risk stuff like that rather than some fools club pictures.

Because they said it failed notability guidelines. MAL was also labeled as a "fan site" in which are usually removed from Wikipedia. Basically the admins at Wikipedia use the notability guidelines as an excuse to remove articles they don't want.

Yeah, basically. I mean, I'm sure there are spurious and stupid articles that really shouldn't exist but there are many legitimate things, like MAL, that get the axe too - which is unfair.

long live MAL. I knew we're going to be more "notable". Now hopefully they're not getting out of their way to try to delete it again <_<

YAY!! It's on Wikipedia!! Now, everyone in the world will know it exists!! Okay, maybe not everyone, but at least all the bored kids that have no lives during class!! I know, because that's what my friends do after they finish projects!! They look up random stuff on Wikipedia while checking their email!! ^-^

I do think the article is written like an advertisement though. I would recommend reading these guidelines and remove all unnecessary adjectives from the article.

Not to be picky or anything but...
The Wiki article said:
before it was moved to the domain myanimelist.com
It's quite misleading. Should be .net if I'm not much mistaken. :)
... Even if I took time to write alot of intelligent words of deep thought and meaning in my signature, would you really care to read and comment on it? ...

kei-clone, and any other moderator here, shouldn't make any edits or changes to the articles. It's called a conflict of interests and wikipedia doesn't like it. Also, I don't really think mal needs a wikipedia page, to be honest, if a much large site like anidb doesn't have one (apparently as some user claimed here it got deleted because of a discussion here).

Just wanted to mention Anidb is in no way a larger site. MAL has a larger user base and many, many more visitors. Facts = win.

@Xinil, I'm afraid your criteria aren't mine. anidb exists longer, has more titles (and more info), is a lot more known than mal, especially outside of North America. Equating facts with opinions = lose. ;)

I've been using anidb for years until i discovered there is even such a site as MAL.

Congratz on the article, I hope it will increase your E.G.O more to the point that you will truly deserve a wiki page.

Though I'm believing Xinil with the facts he said, so what use do awards and so on have when there are less users and less people who visit the site now instead of MAL?

@pedosensei
>anidb exists longer
So? Age (especially with technology/internet) shouldn't be a factor.
Yahoo has existed longer than Google, and.. well, 'nuff said.

>has more titles (and more info)
MAL caters to the community. The DB is here for the user's convenience.
Your comparing two different sites that are for two different purposes.
AniDB: An anime/fansub database.
MAL: An anime/manga social networking site.

>is a lot more known than mal
And yet MAL has more visitors. (more known = "more people who knows [subject]")
When it comes to comparing sites, gauging popularity, and establishing notability; the amount of visitors is what you look for. After all, the purpose of websites is for people to view/use them.

MAL = the "much large[r] site"

@ZinnKid, age and history -are- relevant for wikipedia's criteria of whether something deserves an article or not. If mal deserves one, anidb does too. And if anidb has been deleted, there's no reason not to delete the mal article and the ann article -- the official reason for anidb having been deleted is 'Web content'.

I don't know where you live, but Yahoo plays in some countries a much larger role than Google -- for example, in Japan. I assume you're using a typical for this site North American-centric view.

The DB is here -is- pretty much a ripoff of anidb's and ann's databases, especially the synopses. That's the joke. This website has taken the mentioned websites' databases and wrapped around some social functions. There's no reason it should have a wikipedia article if its mother websites don't have one.

Thirdly, saying 'the site has more visitors' when it comes from the creator of this site isn't really reliable. Some indexing sites have a different view:
http://www.sitereport.org/p/anidb.net - Pageviews Per Day: 611,802
http://www.sitereport.org/p/myanimelist.net - Pageviews Per Day: 498,981

I'm sure you could find a website that says mal has more pageviews, but the point is, both websites are at least of the same magnitude. If mal has a wiki article, anidb should have one too. Or vice versa.

MAL was sold to a company and therefore mentioned in numerous news websites. Wikipedia requires that for credibility. Anidb does not have news worthy mentions.

Also, I'll trust google over sitewhatever.org:
