If it's awesome and not repetitive, endless.

If it's good~great, medium-long.

If it's OK, short. In the ending of these I feel like I wasted my time, epecially those 20- episode ones. Even if they're good.

If it's shit, I like 'em 5 seconds.

Most anime I watch are the (good)endless ones but I don't really care about the length. All I ask for is quality.

25 should be quite long enough to tell any reasonable story. Series that are much longer I probably won't even start, because I know I'll never finish.

Endless is actually fine, as long as it stay strong to its original plot (not deviating to the point of nonsensical). Oh, and of course the pace should also be maintained.

Maybe the only anime which could do that until now has only been Gintama, even that anime is not entirely "endless".

Oh, and "endless" animes shouldn't be ended abruptly, of course.

Maybe the ideal "endless" for me should be 26 episodes, 2 months break before airing another 26 episodes of new season, and so on.

I prefer shorter anime, but if medium anime can have consistent quality (at least like bothadaptation of FMA) it is even better

Generally I like story's that are long. Cause you then usually develop feelings for the characters. 26-50 or more usually does this.

Though. Some gems can achieve this with less.

Where's the "doesn't matter what length as long as it's well done" option? Seriously, if the series is good I do't give a damn. But, to answer the question it seems most of my particularly high ratings fall under the medium (around 40-50 episode), so I guess I'll go with that.

I like my shows to have 25-50 episodes. That is long enough to have good character development but it doesn't seem to drag on forever.

What do you expect? It's the poll is full of fail. "Endless" is a pejorative in these sort of threads and is obviously not what OP wants to be picked. The short, meduim, long should be divided into three options, not two and the numbers should be more inline with the Japanese season; 13, 26, 52, etc. There's no option for people that don't have a preference.

Hmm, with a few exceptions (like Lupin III) I can't stand most of the endless anime, though that's mostly due to the majority of them being the braindead shonen fight genre.

By and large I think that a story is best not when you've run out of things to add, but have run out of things to take out.

Usually in the 20-30 episode range, really.

It's my philosophy that shorter television tend to be better. One of my biggest problems with modern television in the West is that everyone seems to think that if a TV show has a good story, it should get as many seasons as possible; when in reality that's just going to worsen the overall quality of the show, as it's much easier to be consistent in quality with a shorter show as opposed to one that's longer.

A story absolutely should only be as long as it needs to be; if it can be told in 20 episodes, tell it in 20 episodes. Don't waste everyone's time by stretching it out to 100.

That's actually why I generally like Eastern television better than Western: the majority of Eastern television is only given a limited number of episodes to work with, so this forces the creators to simply tell a good story without worrying about how long they milk their creation.

I also think that most stories only need a maximum of 50 episodes to be fully fleshed out.

(This is of course excluding comedies and anthology series, where length usually doesn't matter at all.)

Endless if I like it (I'm talking about you, Fairy Tail)

Medium, most of the time.

Rarely the case, short. (VERY rarely)

Aside from one shot OVA's, movies, and other short series that run 3-12 episodes I usually prefer a 13-26 episode series, but there are series I do love that run longer than that, but the maximum I will tolerate would be up to 200, otherwise episodes that go up to 200+ tend to get stale for me.

Not kinda proper answer. We all like good animes, the question is, what is your preferred length.

You're kinda right. Still, animes may be different. There are ones which you're interested how it'll end and ones, where you really like (may like) main heroes' everyday life. Just an example.

But speaking of story, I know that you had in mind some sort of complicity (e.g. if it's "I'll avenge him"-like story or more dramatic story with more affairs at once).

I used to care about the length, but not anymore.
When I started watching animes I was like "Oh jeez those 12 episodes were WAY too short" and "Hurray, One Piece will go on forever, best anime ever".

I still think that One Piece shouldn't even be near the ending but I also watched pretty damn good "short" and "medium-long" animes and it didn't bother me when it ended.

So I'm going to answer this:
