I'm a guy and I love shoujo and Josei series,

honourable mentions to:
ToraDora
Clannad/Clannad AS
Usagi Drop
Kotonoha no Niwa

Toradora is a shounen romance, Clannad/AS is a galge adaptation, so it's aimed for a more male audience, Usagi Drop is josei, right on the money.

My friend watches all of the anime I watch such as Code Geass, one piece, ao no exorcist etc, she gets extremely annoyed when people consider that boy anime. I can see why, I think the only "boy" anime would be anime such as harem / ecchi etc, and even then some girls watch that. Action anime is definitely gender neutral, as that has no relevance to physical appeal.

I watched Kamisama hajimemashita, Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, and karneval, probably others too.

This I do not get: it's okay for Girls to watch anything that's mainly male, yet it's not okay for guys to watch anything that's mainly female? Not saying that I watch girly stuff all the time, but why must society become so screwy?

That's a good point.

I can't even think of many female-oriented anime. Only Princess Jellyfish comes to mind. Which is amazing even though I can't relate to any of it as a male.
Ooo, what a lovely tea party.

I'm a girl but the only girly shows that I've liked that I can think of are OHSHC, Kuroshitsuji and maybe.... idk Mirai Nikki? Hetalia? Oreimo?

Highschool DxD
Gundam 00
Kuroko no Basket

And probably some more, since i have to say there's a lot of harem ans action hidden in my list, but there's Many anime i think is for both genders since they have things in it that's appealing for both girls and boys;)

I'm a girl and I'd say shounen is probably my go-to genre. I just recently started watching/reading shoujo and I can only take so much romance at a time. A few of the series that are generally more geared towards guys that I really enjoyed are:

Dragon Ball & DBZ
The World God Only Knows
YGO (moreso when I was a kid, but I still enjoy it a bit)
You do not wish to destroy others,
you simply wish to destroy yourself.

Female // I enjoyed :
Yuru Yuri
Kiss x Sis
Kodomo no Jikan
Bakemonogatari
Dog Days (my absolute favorite, it's too cute)
Mysterious Girlfriend X
Ore no Imouto
Yosuga no Sora

If it's good, why the fuck should not being part of the target demographic keep you from watching it?

Watching anime doesn't require you to be gender specific, but watching the "girl" anime for this season, such as madoka, might make people portray guys watching them as nerds.

Why are you giving genders to works of fiction?

I've been watching some more adult shojo and have enjoyed it so far. They tend to be more dramatic and give insight to the opposite gender.

- paradise kiss
- Nana
- lovely complex
- kimi ni todoke(just started this one)
- Kaichou wa Maid-sama
-Kaleido Star ( this one is kinda kiddish/mother/daughter mother/father)
- Ouran High School Host Club
- Gokusen( not sure if this counts, it's like a female GTO
- Nodame Cantabile(not sure if this one counts)

that being said, there are some shows like:

honey and clover
Full Moon wo Sagashite
Pretear
Kodomo no Omocha
Tokyo Mew Mew
Cyberteam in Akihabara

that I simply can't relate to or get into due to the age/gender gap. The same goes to many shounen though, maybe i'm just getting old,

Wait... Which madoka anime are you talking about? Because Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica is manly stuff. Probably just as manly as Girls und Panzer. A female main cast doesn't mean it's girly.
