Kaiji has a big female fanbase, from what I've heard, and it's my favorite show.

Honestly, I'm a guy and I can't think the last "girls" anime I've watched or enjoyed.

Looking at my list, Ouran HS is probably the only one that fits. One of the best anime I've ever seen even if the ending kinda sucked.

Yeye. I didn't even finish Ouran before I dropped it dead. Kare Kano is still the only shoujo-tagged that I liked, and that's only because it had no disgusting taboos.

I'm a girl and I'll say I watch more "guy" animes compared to "girl" animes. I just can't live without action. =.=. But when I was new to anime, or younger, I liked watching "girl" ones more than "guy" ones.

AHHH WE'RE BACK TO SQUARE ONE. I hate it when nobody reads.
Not hating on you specifically, but the same thing has been said 30+ times. I'd actually count if I weren't so irritated.

Ah sry, it's late, and I'm feeling too lazy to list like half of the animes I watched =.=

No it wasn't that. I was just mad that this thread might turn back to the same discussions as before: people listing things that aren't only for girls as shoujo, or assume that all shounen are only for boys.

Rather than listing them indiscriminately (like what's been done meaninglessly for 7-8 pages or so), I want to go back to the discussion about what defines 'exclusiveness' for male and female audiences.

I'm a girl and I watched:
Deathnote
Fullmetal Alchemist
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Kuroshitsuji...? does that count
Spiral
Claymore
Shakugan no Shana- just started this one^^
Bleach, Naruto, Yu Gi Oh, Pokemon- I haven't watched a lot of episodes though.
There's my list^^=D!

I'm a guy, but I'm in hopeless need of heartwarming stories. I usually can't watch shows that have yaoi though.
Aishiteruze Baby
Kaichou wa Maid-sama
Kanon
Kure-nai(not too girly)
Usagi Drop
7 Centimeters per second
And plenty of other ones I'm forgetting....but that should give you an idea.

I'm not too embarrassed, but I'm sure I would be to say that to my guy friends. I might boast to my girl friends though :P

The only one on that list that might be remotely shoujo-only is Kaichou wa Maid, and there's a big male following as well.

why do I even try..

If you mean me, I am watching for the sake of completion, my friend gave it to me, and I was interested in the 'after school life', like Clannad afterstory.

Actually, I've started a thread on that, spoiler. At any rate, these 'other' perspectives are totally off topic. I used sexual tension as my only point because it was the one you brought up, and it was the only difference between male and female viewers.

But, seeing as how this thread has reverted back to its original phase, I doubt there will be any more discussions to be had about this. Need some fresh blood around here.

well, not that i care, but i think it's kind of arrogant saying i brought the topic up since i wasn't really asking a question to begin with, nor in any case asking for a reply.
my third post in this thread, i did start to bring more subjects into this discussion, which i did because you seemed to ignore every other possible perspective on the case we already engaged in arguments over. there is nothing that prohibits me from doing so.
i really could not care less about this topic, and the only reason i joined in was because of your one-sided perspective. at any rate i have stopped caring.

this is how it started, from there on the subject was changed, by you.

Other "girl" shows:

I actually thought about this the other day.. the fact that I can can't stand shoujo shows (apart from the odd few, like OHSHC or Special A) but I adore shounen shows and I'm a girl.. well I've always preferred guyish things.

I especially love
Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Naruto Shippuden
Bleach
One Piece
Fairy Tail
Digimon

I simply don't care whether an anime is targeted for a female or male audience when I decide whether I want to watch something or whether I liked it or not.

I've watched a huge variety of different types of anime, some very feminine some very masculine - I rate them (like/dislike) on whether or not the show was actually good, don't really care about anything else.
"Even if I don't go, I'll die anyway.
I have an organ that's bigger than my heart.
It's invisible, but it's all that holds me up.
Because of it, I can stand up straight.
I can walk straight, even when I'm dizzy and bleeding.
If I run now, it'll tear in half. My soul...
Will tear in half. I'd rather my heart stop than losing what's most important for me.
Even when I'm old and my spine is bent... My soul's got to be straight."

I like Soul Eater. Clearly a Female lead character, but i doubt one could say its for the ladies. But I thuroughly enjoyed Straberry Panic, though thats for girls; but then I dig Okane Ga Nai, and its yaoi for made by women. Idk, as an otaku its hard to say boy/girl anime. If its pretty, or cute, or funny, or packed with mecha it might be worth the watch, despite the intended or presumed audience.

Thing about girls is that it's perfectly normal for them to like what guy's like. However when it works vice versa, the guy is labeled a few names.

But anyways, I guess the only "girl" anime I watched are Clannad and Clannad AS and 5 cm/sec.

dear alfonse,
i decided to like what girls like cause its cute as hell.
i still cant wear thigh high socks, but i found some killer sunglasses and a sweet tie
in a "girls only" type of shop. they get all the cute things, but if youre lucky and bold,
you can find a few ;)

I'm a guy and I've watched:
Toradora
Lovely Complex
Ano Hanna
5 centimeters per second
Blood+ (felt like it was targeted at women even though it had some common shounen elements)
Higashi no Eden
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
Usagi Drop
Hanasaku Iroha

There are a lot of romance anime on this list for which it is hard to determine the audience like Lovely Complex.

I've also seen both seasons of KON and and Azumanga Daioh, but even though all the characters are female it still feels like they are targeting guys that like moe :D.

No matter how old some guys get, they are still afraid of "catching girl germs"?

Pocket history lesson: Way, way back in the way-back-when, girls didn't wear pink because it was considered too "active a color." Additionally, up until the later 1800's men in general, (yes, even the very straight "macho" ones) wore lace and make up.

I hardly think watching Shoujo, Josie, drama and/or romance is going to diminish anyone's manliness. If you are really secure in your self even a little implied Shounen Ai won't "contaminate" you. Great stories can be found in all corners. . . . . except perhaps shounen/highschool/rom/com/harem . . . . Just kidding. . . . .sorta. ;-)
