She said they had a hundred years of this, which at least makes a thousand times (because it was longer before). A thousand times and she still makes comments about the situation? I think they couldn't integrate that idea to the episode.

1. the series finally picked up the pace. eps 2-5 were predictable/boring.

2. the idea of trying to change one's fate is very interesting.

3. curious to see how rika changes her fate.

I liked Rika's last comment, "I will take a stand against fate."

Gotta agree.

Hinamizawa's top attraction should be Rika's "nippah~" in front of the bus stop! Sonozaki's Nail Remover Show can be in the second.

Good episode, finally we got to see Rika's helper.
Nice move, Keiichi, you just spared us Shion go crazy, and how I am grateful for that.

But it seems that this arc will be Rika that tries to untrigger the events that leads to the various murders..

So this Hanyuu finally has an appearance.

Can't wait to see what will change now that they are trying to defy fate. But as others already stated, it's probably not called Massacre-Chapter without a reason :/

I guess this time Rena will be the jealous one and go berserk again with her machete^^

This was a great start to a new arc. I was really into it that it didn't even feel like it was 24 minutes. It felt like I watched 12 minutes of it since time went by so quickly.

this is epic... RIKA can travel back in time so every arc was starting from the beginning and told us a different sides to the story and reveled to us about the parasites because RIKA travel back and thanks to her we know so much! ...and satoko is a host for the " insanity + aggressive parasite" and is a test subject for finding a cure also is taken care by someone they call as "manager"! :3

She can only travel back in time because of the power from Hanyuu. Hanyuu did save her more then 1000 times from being killed.

Holy shit, Rika did said that she lived these events for hundreds of years, right? That must be an awful experiance... I thought that the crude voice was a split personality from her, but now I'm beginning to understand why she have such an adult voice...

At least, she isn't alone in that mess, she got the ghost girl thing with her. I wonder if that is in fact the Oyashiro reincarnation that everyone keep talking about. She seem totally cute too.

Keichi has been able to turn the wheel of fate, but it's a matter of time before someone lose it again. I'm guessing on Rika, since she said to Mion ''don't bother about me'', which is definitely a sign that she was upset.

THE TRUTH IS REVEALED!

It's a relief now knowing that I understand Higurashi's plot fairly well now. Now I can just enjoy this anime for what it is instead of having to piece it all together!

I love these little changes of fate that are occuring during the world line. So fascinating! We're really gonna see the butterfly effect in action aren't we?

Great episode! Loving these answer arcs!

love it! its super interesting now :D too bad it took rika 100 years to start trying to actually resist fate.... next episode she stops tomitake and takano from going into the shrine? :o

and if she does prevent all the murders and tragedy, how does she know she's done it...? is it when she survives the cotton drifting day? does hanyuu disappear or something? does she finally get to grow up? (btw is her voice hanyuu speaking or what...? at first i thought her internal voice was a grown woman and the way she talked was because her body was still young, but she can change it at will O.o)

Don't you see? it is named "massacre chapter" so it is going to be very bloody and violent this time :P fate will take a revenge for trying to change it. Next chapter might be even more bloody because they probably will try to change the fate more and more and fate will correct more and more which means more brutality. Anyway, it's gonna be very interesting.

100 years of seeing all this blood being shed?! It's pure torture. I guess she developed a tolerance for it, though. Just think of it...100 years of the same events happening over and over and over. That's just something that would make my head explode.

When Rika was watching all of the Hinamizawa worlds, it was so deep I couldn't see anymore lol. That's when most of the truth was revealed -- except who keeps killing her and why.

Ahaha! Everyone thought Keiichi was a dumb MC when in reality, he sort of broke that fate chain! Good stuff.

Well, looks like Rika's gonna try and go beyond June 1983. I really hope they'll do it. But with a title like "Massacre Chapter" and more episodes, there has to be some sort of downfall along the way.

Darn, we were so close to seeing crazy Shion again </3 :(.

But at least we finally got a much clearer picture of what the hell is going on, lots of great information this ep. I have to say though, the person Rika was talking to is not at all like what I was expecting. The question is, is this Oyashiro, or is it just another spirit that's attached to Rika? Or, maybe its one of the aliens =O!? I honestly have no fucking clue lol. Just another question that we'll hopefully get an answer to I guess.

I also found it pretty crazy that Rika has been reliving this same series of events for over 100 years, no wonder she sounds so adult when she talks seriously lol. How shes kept her sanity after so long is anyone's guess though.

Oh, If I'm not mistaken, in an episode ago, didn't Rika said that she couldn't tell anyone about her? I mean, she told to Keiichi about her "ability" to "foresee the future"..... O_o

By the end, I was thinking it strange that it hadn't occurred to her to try to change things and warn people off, but I think we probably have to presume that after 100 years of this, she's stopped meaningfully trying. What we're seeing here was enough to surprise her into giving it one more concerted go.

One possibility is that she's tried to enact changes through the others mostly. As they're used to her being the shrine maiden, they perhaps aren't taking her words seriously enough *this time* to make a meaningful difference in June.

Keichi, on the other hand, has recently (in the previous arc) shown that he could harbor memories or impressions from the previous world/loop. Starting with him, and starting so early, might be the key to escape that she hadn't found yet.

i wonder if the power to turn back time is decreasing each time she did it, then the event when she meets Akasaka-san 5 years ago was one of the earliest time loop

Damn this is probably obvious for anyone who’s seen both, but this reminds me a lot of Steins;Gate.

Rika’s constant timeloop in an attempt to find a fate that is desirable, much like Okabe trying to break the 1% barrier to find a desirable world line.

And then we see Keichi giving Rika the push she needs to keep trying to strive for a different outcome when she has seemingly lost hope, much like Mayuri did for Okabe when he was losing hope.

Really enjoying the parallels. It’s also a nice touch that the VA for Rika is also the voice for Suzuha in S;G.

As an end note, that line Hanyuu says to Rika...“You and me have been living in these worlds for over a hundred years.” I can’t even imagine what that would do to someone’s emotional stability. Much like Okabe broke down, I’m sure Rika is at her limit. Hopefully, she can discover some clues on escaping the despair with Keiichi’s help.

Can't help but feel like an even despair is awaiting...

Y'know, it's one of those crippling end results when you get your hopes up high a bit only to fall even deeper...

I assume the the L3 means the level of parasite infestation in Satoko.

Hinamizawa's tourism bureau definitely shouldn't have hired minors in their marketing division, unless they were going for haunted village style tourism. Hinamizawa by the previews is a pretty interesting place, with old people nippering about all day long while the young people chop, infect, and torture through the night.

That was a banger.

Changing their fates? Reinvigorating a trodden down Rika? What in the heck is up with Rika and her ghost-buddy anyways? hmm

I'm going to guess that things get "better" during this timeline, but they still end poorly (ie, everyone dies). I'm thinking it's different enough that it will also affect the next timeline, too, gradually "improving" to the point where everyone remembers the past timelines and "rights" the errors of their ways? And they all live happily ever after? haha

Idk, but something like that, maybe?
