**PLEASE PLACE YOUR ENTIRE POST IN SPOILER BUTTONS**

Note: Any response not in spoiler buttons will be removed as soon as I can get the powers that be to remove them

I am editing this post to remove the requirement for spoiler buttons in this thread. Anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled really shouldn't be coming into this thread. That simple. My apologies for my short sightedness earlier.

Sorry this took me so long to respond, Ashwood. Anyway... like this...

[ spoiler ] Then type your text here [ /spoiler ]

Just like that, but just leave out the spaces in the brackets. And I'm about to edit my first post anyway, and remove the requirement for spoiler buttons. I agree with Sandgolem. Upon looking at the title of this thread, if you don't want to be spoiled, then DON'T come into the thread. ^_^

Oh, i forgot about this thread. I'll be the first to post my saddest death without using spoiler tags!

Dobby was the one that surprised me the most. It was so sad to see him risk his life to save Harry in the manor...at least his final acts weren't in vain. Someone spoiled some of the deaths for me, so I saw Fred's and Hedwig's coming unfortunately.

Actually, Ashwood, Lupin and Tonks were orignially not slated to die. In an interview w/ JK Rowling, last year, she stated that one of her characters had been given a reprieve, and that in that character's place, 2 more would have to die. We found out who these were in a recent interview she gave after the release of the book.

Lupin and Tonks were the "replacement" deaths. And yes, she said she wanted to show that war was brutal, and that children would be left as orphans. She also wanted something to "equate" to Harry losing his parents in the original war.

But what about the character that got the reprieve you ask? According to JKR, it was Arthur Weasley. So originally, 2 Weasleys were supposed to die. However, JKR said that she just couldn't bring herself to kill him off because (1) of what happened to him in OotP and (2) he's the only good father role model in the entire series.

So... there ya go. ^_^

Yeah Chelle very true, very ture. Are you member of Mugglenet.com? Most of the people, I find, that know the in depth stuff like that visit Mugglenet.com

As a member of that site, I will have to say that is the best HP site!
But abouyt Lupin and Tonks....I only meant that after Lupin said Harry was the godfather I knew they were going to die, while reading the 7th book. Before reading DH I had know idea! It was all rather upsetting!

I go to Mugglenet.com once in a while, but usually, I use The Leaky Cauldron for my info. Their site is concise, accurate, and IMHO, laid out a bit better. For me, anyway, it's easier to get around and get up to date stuff from them. XD

I would hardly call it love for Harry that made Snape doing what he did.....it was all for Lily. He hated Harry for looking like, acting, and being the son of James. But it was all because his love was strong than his hate (and of course those lovely green eyes) that he did those things for Harry.

None of the deaths made me actually cry. Partially from being spoiled and maybe from flipping to pages I haven't read yet.

I felt sad when Snape was murdered…

Destiny is unstoppable

I cried the hardest at the death of Fred. I couldn't believe she would brake up the brothers. I myself am a twin and when I read that, all I could think of was "What if I was there...and that was my sister?"
I was seriously messed up for a bit after that...but then again, reading from 11:00 to 4:00 in the morning might do that to you...^^;

Fred - Because Fred and George are a pair
Dobby - Only because it was so sad, his whole death.
Hedwig - At first, Hedwig's death did not bother me. But then I found a site by a Harry Potter fan who loves owls, even has one for showing at schools. Anyways, she pointed out that the way Hedwig died, in the cage and not flying free was not a good way to do it. And why did Harry have Hedwig with him? Wouldn't that be a dead give away of who he was? So, he should have let her fly to where ever they were going. Owls have the way of finding places. Or sending her to go stay at Grimwaulds for awhile and catch mice.
Tonks & Lupin - It was so... bland. And it just was. I mean, it was barrily mentioned.
Goyle - I think it was Goyle. I mean, I didn't expect that one. The whole scene was a panic and there was no way to save him. I know he's a bad guy, but... I can't forget that part easily.

They all made me pretty sad . Tonks and Lupin leaving a son behind ,which reminds you of all the sad times Harry had to face like looking into that mirror in the first book and just sitting there looking at his parents, plus Tonks and Lupin were very cool. The twins were my fav characters and then to see one of them die :( leaving just George alone ? Too cruel and with Fred cracking a joke just before he dies ? Made me remember all the funny stuff him and George use to come up with.

But before reading the Prince's Tale it probably has to be Dobby's death for me. He always loved Harry and then dieing whilst saving him :( Plus with Griphook talking about the unfair treatment magical creatures get and Harry digging Dobby's grave by hand it all made it even sadder :(
Do you know of ‘The Magnificent Steiner’ ? The main character was normally a weak, sickly man. When he was in an emergency, someone would come and help him. A secret friend. But, the main character never realised...... that his secret friend....Was himself.

For me, also Snape.
I knew that he wasn't really evil ever since I read the 6th book...

I know what you mean, that bit really got me since I really wasn't expecting it T^T Actually, that's the way with most of the deaths in this book - I honestly didn't expect any of them!

I'm ashamed to say I hardly cried during this book; when I got it I read through it as fast as I could, terrified that someone would spoil it for me (the whole Snape-killing-Dumbledore thing was spoilered for me by one of my greatest enemies in life ¬_¬) so I wasn't able to properly appreciate most of it, and on the re-read I obviously knew what was coming up >_< I feel like I've missed out!

But anyways: saddest death. Hmm, it's a toss up. So many caught me by the throat, and I was terrified for Hagrid (how many times did he nearly die?!?) but the ones that broke my heart the most were Snape's and Fred's. Fred's because - what the hell will George do now? Not only is Fred gone, but half of George is lost too! I broke my heart for George! And Snape was so, so brave TT^TT I was glad in a way, because finally Snape was free of this lie and able to tell Harry the truth (not the whole truth, eh Snarry fans? xD Ah, sorry, I couldn't resist xD), but he's my favourite character and... to die like that... TT^TT

But still, the only moment to my memory that ACTually made me cry was Harry calling his son "Albus Severus" ~~ I totally wasn't expecting that right at the happy ever after, and it shook me up so bad~~!!

To put it bluntly... ALL OF THEM T^T

I blubbed the whole way through that book on a plane xD got some weird looks from other passengers but hey, it was worth it. I think if I had to chose I'd say Hedwig, Dobby, Fred and Snape's deaths were the worst *^* Hedwig because I never expected to miss her as much as I did and I knew it was stupid - she's just an owl afterall - but maa~an did that make me cry Q___Q Dobby because that was one of the saddest bits of any book I've ever read - and again, he's just a house elf who - in all honesty - peeed me off a bit; you don't expect it to hurt as much as it does when he dies *sniffles*

Fred and Snape were the very worst though. After all, Fred was my favourite of the twins throughout the whole series (don't ask me why I had a favourite when they're identical "^_^) and poor pooo~oor George TT^TT as Teriyaki said: "I broke my heart for George" TT______TT too~ sad. And Snape - poor, brave Snape T^T. My favourite character throughout the books he had to go and die and then reveal all his secrets and prove that beyond a doubt he was THE BEST CHARACTER OF ALL TIME T^T which just made it worse. Seriously. HATE to Nagini ¬¬ Though that chapter with Snape's memories remains my favourite chapter of Harry Potter history

And @teriyaki: "Albus Severus" T^T though on reflection it should have been the other way round. Snape was so much better than Dumbledore. In fact, Dumbledore was a little bit of a prick really xD *shields herself from hate*

...though "Severus Albus Potter" sounds rubbish x3

Snape and Hedwig. The latter I really didn't see coming and I really don't like it, when animals get killed (probably gonna cover my eyes at this part if it makes it into the movie).
I liked Snape's death scene, though I've read that many felt him worthy of something more. I don't know, maybe a talk over with Harry in person would have been good, and really I just don't see him jumping in front of Harry to save him or something... that would have been unoriginal imho. I liked the look in the eyes, the way Harry reacted and the memories later on.

The death of the other good guys was sad too, and I was very surprised that both Lupin AND Tonks died. I know what Rowling said about this and I still don't think that this was necessary. Not to mention of screen deaths, we only know who killed them because JKR told us in an interview...

I have to say that I practically bawled the first time I read it so I had to read it again recently. I bawled the second time too.

But the deaths that struck me the hardest were definitely Hedwig, Dobby, and Fred.

I loved Hedwig all through the books and he always was with Harry.

Dobby was not a favorite character of mine but it hit me hard when he died after saving Harry and everyone. It was worse when Harry was burrying him the muggle way.

Fred's death hit me the hardest of the three. I was a twin lover ever since the first book and after George lost his ear I cried and when Fred died I totally sobbed. Fred and George were definitely tow of my all time favorite characters from the books and I can't imagine one living without the other.

Moody, Tonks, and Lupin also hit me hard but not as bad I guess.

That concludes my rambling.

I threw a sobbing fit a Fred's death. I saw it coming due to spoilers on wikia.
But I was never prepared for the actual thing.
Hedwig's death made me very distraught, being the avid animal lover I am. And he's practically never mourned or thought of again in the book!
I disliked the death of Snape, because you finally learn the truth after wards; and it's very upsetting.
Now, I'm not one of those weirdos who liked Voldermort, but I was selfishly very upset when he died 'cause it really meant the end.
The end...
-sigh-
It was truly a great series. Anybody who believes otherwise is off their rocker.
Either that or a complete idiot.
Oh! I was also very upset by Lupin and Tonk's death. Poor Teddy...
Outside of the seventh book, I was none too happy with the loss of Dumbledore and Sirius.
Despite being fictional, I miss them all dearly.

The first time I read it, I didn't cry at all. Probably because I had part of it spoiled by a friend who had beaten me in reading it and just had to call me to tell me, lol. I did however cry the second time at Harry's "death". I always like stories that emotionally draw me in.

I think after getting over the shock over hedwig it really set the tone for what I thought other tragedies would come in the book.
I was really sad after finding out Fred died.

I can't decide between Dobby and Snape.

With Dobby, we have this unexpected, heart-wrenching death scene followed by a funeral worthy of his heroism; the way it's all written will make you sob as if you were there with the characters as they clutch his small, bloodied body as they lay him to rest.

Snape on the other hand had an ignominious death in which, at that point of the story, you're not sure whether to feel sorry for him or not. But as you read through the flashbacks and slowly realize that he had been one of the good guys all along and did not deserve to die like that, you feel this empty sorrow for him.
