| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Well, this is the first episode of Slayers! Tell us about thoughts on this episode.... I personally thought the first episode of the sereis was pretty good to start out the story. From the start, Lina made me believe that this was going to be an interesting adventure. From slaying dragons to stealing back money, Lina is a pretty strong character in my book. The design of the characters caught my eye, the design was genius, yt it felt like it should have been better quality, then again, the first eason aired a while back. |

| It definitely looked pretty old and not up to standards, but the characters seem pretty interesting so far. Hopefully, it'll pick up when a few of the other main characters are introduced. |

| A solid first episode. Lina is an entertaining character; as for the humor, while it isn't exactly hilarious, the parodies of traditional fantasy elements were pretty fun. |

| Pretty cool first episode. Looked visually appealing (especially the dragon) and the jokes were funny. I also really like the Lina's English voice. Definitely looking forward watching more of in the near future. |
| I just started to re-watch it, seems like I remember this episode :D. Bit sad that the quality can't be better like Yu Yu Hakusho but oh well I like it. It's just a bit hard to go from 720p-1080p blu-rays to 480p dvd quality :D. Anyways I enjoyed this anime in my childhood so it's about time for me to see it from ep1 to last movie released :D. Going by aired date order :). |

| its a nice comedy.. better than most comedy anime i have watched... the fantasy aspect is nice.. ofc you cant take it much seriously but the show overall is enjoyable (at least the first episode was).. the dragon was so cool btw^^ |

| So first ep. I thought it was pretty good. Pros: Animation: Pretty good for the nineties. Pretty colorful too. Voices: The dub sounds fine. Lina's voice is believable and carries that mischievous charm. Goury's voice for some reason reminded me of Brock from Pokemon. OP: Decent beat. Characters: Our heroine ladies and gentlemen. A walking WMD. She seems pretty fun though. Goury lends himself to a bit of the naive or gullible hero. Nitpicks: Lip-sync: SOmetimes its a bit off but its not that big of a deal. 4/5. Pretty good start that sets the show up. It feels like a good comedy ride. |

| Seems like a very captivating anime, at least for a starter. Quite childish considering the character creation, that's for sure, but I liked it and I'll certainly sit through the whole series. I found the dialogue animation design during the Gourry meetup scene very well constructed, it felt so expressive that you just couldn't help but laugh and fall in love with it. |
| This series is significantly better than I thought it would be. Lina is on her way to being one of my favorite main female protagonists. This episode should have been translated as: "U Mad?" |

| Pretty simple episode, yet very entertaining to watch. A fantasy world, two main characters with a nice chemistry, adventures all the time. This is gonna be awesome :) |

| What I liked about this one was the fact that it was one of the first anime that I have ever watched. The voice acting and the sound overall were great, but man, the graphics. The graphics. And the character design. I want to watch this, but I don't know. Animation is a pretty big deal for me when it comes to anime. We'll see. |

| This is just up my alley humor wise. The art is on point and they actually don't skimp on the actual spells at all in terms of animating. Lina Inverse immediately is becoming one of my all time fav characters on her charm alone. |

Not very funny. -_- > Lina throwing Gourry at the dragon that looks like something out of Kemono No Souja Erin is nothing special, just cartoonish. Looks like something that kids or young teens would enjoy but Lina's outspoken, aggressive, moody, arrogant, bossy personality throughout the whole episode is really irritating to me. | Having watched the prequel movies before this, I already think I’m going to enjoy the TV series more. Gourry seems like a more balanced foil than Naga since he’ll be able to call Lina out on stuff as well as get called out; with Naga it was more of a one-way street. Plus no more of that horrid laugh. Something else different is that Lina seems slightly more naive/idealistic here than in the movies. She still has some humorous cynicism, but it’s not quite as developed as in the movies. I find that a bit ironic since they’re technically prequels despite being released later. This take on Lina sits well with me too, though. Looking forward to it. |

| Got irked by WatcMojo's Top 10 Craziest Anime Magic Battles on YouTube when Slayers wasn't even mentioned. I remembered watching Slayers 2 decades ago had way crazier and wackier magic battles than those in their list so here I am rewatching this...again. "I had to destroy the town to save it." is classic Lina Inverse SOP. |

| Good first episode, Lina is a rather unusual protagonist which is something I enjoy watching. Just some lighthearted fantasy stuff so far, nice. |
| This was a really lighthearted and funny first episode. I'm already loving both Lina and Gourry and I can definitely tell they'll continue to have many more fun misadventures ahead. Love the overall vibe this show has so far :) |
