| that was bs, he could have totally won that match if he wasnt so stupid, i understand that they need him to lose at one point for the plot's sake but this was kinda forced, he had the advantage and lost it because of his own stupidity. i would accept it if he was overwhelmed but he did this to himself i cant really sympathize with him. |

I dont think you get boxing, boxing isnt about who can hit he hardest, boxing is a psychological match, the person who shows the least fear and knows the most strategy will win, ippo had no idea that date was that injured and date did a good job at hiding it, ippo thought whatever he was doing was useless, he got pcyhed out and lost his will for a shirt while, and before he got it back he was almost completely unconscious and was too late |

| I very much liked that ippo lost this fight. He seemed a bit like an odrinary overpowerd main protagonist, even though every one of his matches were close and you got a lot of screentime seeing him train (what kinda takes away the ovverpowerd feeling) but still... i assume that Date gets the World Titel now and they will fight again, but whatever.. was a pretty good episode |
| Holy fuck. What a match. It was so hard to tell who was going to win in the end, I kept flip-flopping my decision. On one hand I thought "Hmm, there's no way Ippo could be champ at episode 57 when this series has 75 episodes. Also, Ippo is due for a loss.". On the other hand I thought "A lot of pro boxers in real life have amazing records, many with 40+ wins and under 5-10 losses and some have gone undefeated up to the time of their first title (like Takamura). So maybe the mangaka wanted to do the same thing with Ippo.". | As I thought, he would lose. At one point, he had to lose. It will be hard for his self-esteem, but in the end, it will make him stronger. That fight was way too intense, I was sweating xD The OST choice in the middle of the episode was really interresting, it really emphasized the desperation of the moment. |
