I actually cried a bit this episode T_T that Okabe x Mayuri moment..
Poor Mayushii and Okarin...
Since Mayuri seems to remember each time she died, albeit as a dream, makes me wonder if Kurisu knows everything.
Got a bad feeling about this..
Great episode!

*sigh* every episode of this is boring now...

The show started pretty good and then it just went down this giant drama hole which fails to be very interesting...

I'm losing interest with each episode, but I'm so close to the end that I kind of just want it to be over already. -___-

(rewatching)

Mayuri remembers every time she died... though it's like a dream.
This is a very good way to give the audience an understanding... ever had a dream shock you awake? It's something everyone can relate to.

Kurisu went to the exact place where was stabbed without being told where it was. I would assume she had a similar "dream".

Probably the most I've cried in an anime, still crying now. The shit Okabe's been through man, I feel so damn sorry for him. The more anime I watch the more I think Angel Beats! had a comedic ending.

Oh God Mayuri in the following,

freaking cried and still am. Mayuri! With that music and scene it's hard for a Mayuri fan really hard! TT_TT

This is like the final countdown. This episode was total emotional and heart-wrenching for Makise and Mayuri fans. All I got to say is that all stay strong, well those who are emotional like me.

For some strange reasons, Makise's face in the following,

looks wildly attractive the way it shown. Rather interesting effects it makes on males. More later need to recover. Still have tears.

BTW stitches in the spoiler
Makise grabbing the cell from Okabe was somewhat dramatic.

She said all I had to say ._.

Oh God.... Mayuri is so sad... she realizes all of her deaths (who knows how many time she died).

But Okarin is gonna choose Kurisu after all. Since she's the main character and there's only one true ending.

I feel sorry for those who can't get into this show. I admit I had my doubts but it's grown on me so much. Of course, it's hard to disassociate from the Hype and objectively I know it's flawed. I just don't care.

I wish the studios other works were worth tracking down but from what I hear they're subpar.

Totally dramatic. Waiting to see how Okarin will move to a Gamma world line where everyone are alive and happy (or not).

So, why doesn't she just...not invent the time machine to begin with?? Or, what if he halts the program? Will Mayuri still die? I guess so...

No progress whatsoever. Pretty boring. Probably would've enjoyed this ep more if I was more emotionally invested in either of these two characters, but I'm just not feeling it.

I've teared up quite a few times watching the series, but.... never as many times as I have during this episode.....

They are too good at messing with our emotions, they are too good with making everything fit together at the end. They are too good.....

Only 3 episodes left.....now is the time that I will binge my way to the end. Now is the time that I will binge my way to the end...

Kinda confused on the whole last scene with Kurisu in the red-lit room/area. Was there supposed to be a big significance I'm missing? Emotional episode, I thought something was really going to change when Okabe tried to kill himself in the car. Mayushii saving him wasn't expected at all - I thought he was going to die in a huge twist, making another separate timeline.

It was the place where she was killed in original Beta World Line.

He can't die until 2025 in the Alpha Worldline but Mayuri has to die anyways in this timeline.

There has to be some way to save them both... I can't imagine having to choose between the two.

And I'm curious as to what Kurisu was looking at at the very end of the episode/where she was. Seemed like where she died in the first episode, though I don't know what she'd be doing there in this timeline. And I still want to know what she was asking Okabe about in the first episode/who's scream we heard... sounded like Okabe, but then there'd be two Okabes, which wouldn't make sense. I'm sure all will be revealed soon enough

Such an emotional episode, Okabe's pain was palpable.

The one thing I don't understand is why the 1st D-mail changed the world lines in the first place? SERN saw that Makise is going to die and stopped it somehow, or what?

It's not the content of the message that's important, but the existence itself. SERN has access to the global surveillance system called ECHELON that intercepts and records communications and messages. Sometime in the future someone checks their database(only readable trough IBN5100) and finds out that there was a mismatch in the date it was send and received, seemingly coming from the future. That is enough to kickstart SERN's interest and pursue the source, which is the lab with its members. Later they capture and use them and their phonewave to continue working on their time travel research, which eventually succeeds and results in the SERN's dystopia. Okabe manages to escape and forms a resistance, integral part of which is the event of Mayuri's dead and her lasting importance to him. Eventually Suzuha is born and travels back using their half-functional machine to the alpha worldline, where it crashes and in turn postpones Nakabachi's conference leaving Kurisu alive.

Haven't read this thread (yet). (Maybe someone thought about this already and I made a mistake. Or it gets answered later in the anime.):

There actually is a major flaw. Okabe wants Daru to hack SERN to delete the mail. And they need the IBN 5100. So far okay. I remember that computer was needed.

But: So far only D-Mails changed the past. (Okabe stayed at the same point other stuff around him changed.) Time Leap moved him to the past without changing the time line. (Cause after moving back nothing happened ... until he starts to act with his new knowledge ... so I guess it would be possible to change timelines with doing new stuff after the leap ... but not the past before the point he had leaped to.)

Now with SERN: Didn't they mention SERN somehow detected the mail and acted upon it - attacking the lab and stuff. I mean that already happend. Even if they delete the mail SERN should still have knowledge.

He would have to prevent himself from sending the mail. But afaik this can't happen since he didn't send it in this timeline - since Kurisu didn't get stabbed and he send it just because she got stabbed.

Edit: Oh I see ... after reading the previous pages I saw someone explained SERN only notices the mail a few days before the attack. Which means it is days later after it got sent. Making it possible to delete it before they notice ... and the stuff about the conference not being canceled.

That is a bit weird or not very good explained in the anime. (People in another forum recommended the VN and said the anime was only good for people that read the VN before and not as standalone.) Maybe it is because of the too many SoL stuff happening. (They took too much time/episodes. Whole episodes for each D-Mail do undo ... could have happened faster without the date with the shrine fembo for example.)

I thought SERN has automated programs running and scanning and immediately detects the mail. And that's why the their team is already there and searching. (FB and Moeka ...)
But I guess they were doing that independently just to get the IBN so no one could hack into SERN with that. (And didn't search for the IBN because of the mail.) Then it would make sense. Since those rounders seemed to exist for a longer time already there.

(He needs to do some other stuff near that point of time where the mail arrived which he sent in episode 1 so SERN thinks it was a fake or something like that.)

Just like the others, even Mayuri got some of her memories of when she died. At least she thought of them as nightmares instead of actual memories. I'm fully convinced Okabe's actions has to do something with this.

Hearing Mayuri talking on the grave about the happy and the depressing times just makes me cry. All Mayuri wants is for everyone to be happy and be happy herself. If Okabe is not happy how can she truly be happy? Protect her smile Okabe!

This is yet another time loop that Okabe is experiencing. He can't save Mayuri without hacking and basically undoing the first D-Mail, but he can't save Kurisu by doing so. Both of them are destined to die but each on a different worldline I truly wish none of them will end up dying permanently. I still hope that Okabe can somehow find a solution to this INSANE problem!

I'll literally cry my fucking eyes out and be depressed for a few days if they both die permanently!

Rewatching show with sister to get fully immersed when watching Steins;Gate 0 right after!

Probably the saddest episode of the anime (at least so far)
Just Mayuri ... it hurts so much seeing her care so much for Okabe and seeing him struggle all the time, having that pain hidden away.
Then with Mayuri talking about her "nightmares"... so depressing and sad ...

One of the best episodes for sure.

This episode broke my heart. When Okabe told Kurisu that she will die if everything changes to normal was almost to much ;_;

I don't know what he can do. Also seeing Mayuri who cares so much for Okabe dies again and again in Okabes hands....
I couldn't believe that she has nightmares about all her deaths. How is this possible?

There must be a way to rescue both. It's just not fair that Okabe has to choose. I'm scared about the ending. I hope Kurisu will not sacrifice herself or anything like that. Okabe would break on that and me too ;_;

It's nice and all to think that he believed there's a way to save both of them. But don't forget the possibility that you'll lose both of them. Since it said that undoing every D-mail will delay Mayuri's death, it's also possible that undoing the FIRST D-mail will only delay Mayushi's death.

What what? What char limit? Attractor Fields has nothing to do with D-Mails char limit.
Attractor Fields is one of the key expressions in this series, and you don't know what does it mean? It was explained by Suzuha in Episode 14, 15 and 16, when she revealed herself as Titor.

Why do you even watch this series if you don't pay attention?

Firstly, Im confused about what Attractor Fields got to do with my post. Second, I'm not talking about D-mail charlimit, you should've known that your post must contain at least 15 characters.

Okabe's goal is to escape from Alpha Attractor Field where Mayuri dies and you can't prevent it. Undoing the first D-mail he can successfully escape from Alpha, so Mayuri will be safe.

But it's not guaranteed yet. On the Beta worldline, Okabe only reached 28th July, after that he shifted to Alpha wordline. In Alpha worldline Mayuri will originally die in 13th August, before undoing all the D-mail. But each time you undo a D-mail, it will undo the death of Mayuri. So I'm speculating that what if the undoing the first D-mail would only delay Mayuri's death again? It's just my speculation it's not a fact. Also no spoiler, pls.
