I'm guessing that the first person Vash actually killed with his gun. I can't wait to see Vash fight Knives.

I remember being blown away by this episode, because I just didnt for a second believe they would make Vash's character kill anyone, and if they did it would only be the last bad guy of the show.

Nope, turns out the author is a good writer. (havent read the manga actually, but I'm assuming the same thing happens in that)

One of the best episode of anime for me.

Yeah, this has been my favourite episode so far...two more to go! So this is how Legato planned to make Vash suffer eternal pain, by making him a killer...
Your search on "Oran Solus" returned the following quotes:
"Oran Solus? I know him. What a wanker. He still owes me a tenner." Oscar Wilde
"Oran, you're so intelligent and awesome <3" Bakayaro
"Oran's sexy." LolitaDecay
"Oran is a sophisticated penguin." Drybananna
"Oran is a Hand-Eye you faggots." EddieSpaghetti
"Oran for Prime Minister." the_prime_one
"Oran is all that is stated in his sig and more." orbitzz

Very good episode.
The saxophone player had no chance when he went up agianst Vash.. -.-

It was intresting to see Legato manipulating him to change and realize that he can't save everyone..

I'm a little surprised he killed someone as well. Good episode though. I'm thinking legato had Vash's real arm and that's how he controlled the people. The saxaphone-fu was cool even if it only was a short moment.

I can't believe how crappy this anime has become in these last few episodes... I just can't believe it, I'm this close to dropping the series merely two episodes away from the finale...

This has been one of my favorites because of the inner conflict Vash has.
Also, the moment where Vash pulls the trigger and Legato's body thuds to the ground echoes in my mind.

I think it's because he possesses Vash's right arm and has some plant powers that aren't really shown in the anime

Well actually, in the manga it's something entirely different.

Oh, hey there reason this is one of my favorite animes of all time, one of the few instances of media which makes me cry, best episode in the series, and reason Vash is one of my favorite characters.

I've always viewed human life as faaaaaaar to precious a resource to ever snuff out, and that's why I heartily agree with Vash and feel tremendous heartbreak in this scene.

God what a great show.

Knowing Vash's person and ideals (be they right or not) it was heatbreakink watching him pull the trigger... really really disturbing scene, what a haunted character.

Well, it happened what I have known since the beginning - Vash WILL kill someone... Now I know that Vash understood that it's impossible save everyone (Well, at least he SHOULD do it). Life isn't an utopia and sometimes we MUST choose "lesser of two evils" if we like it or not. Sad but true...

BTW, Legato ask Vash to shoot him "of his own accord"... Yeah, right :/ If the fashion in which Legato made Vash to shoot him may be called "free will"... Sorry, I quit :P

Yes, i have been waiting to see this for a long time. Vash gets his first confirmed kill. I'm so happy. Some semblance of character development.

One thing I don't understand about all these super freaks (Legato et al.) is why they want to wipe out humanity. If humans are a weaker species, then once you wipe out humans... What then? What? What do you do when you're the only person alive on the whole planet? Maybe you could turn your attention to the second highest species. In this way, somehow, you end up destroying all life on the planet. Even the micro organisms. What then? Look to other planets? Suppose you are able to conquer the universe, destroy all life in the universe because according to you, they're all weaker beings, trash, "resource-consuming garbage" etc. What then? Just an eternity of a solitary existence? Now that's just stupid. F*cking idiots.

God its annoying when Vash tries to be a good guy. It was either kill Legato or his friends will die. If I was him I would have dropped my morals and killed Legato to save my friends without a second thought. Jesus, Vash -_-.

I'd just like to say, while the final scene was heart wrenching, the opening scene with Vash trying to be happy and then breaking down and sobbing was soul-destroyingly sad for me.

It's always the moments that catch me off guard that hurt the worst. And now I'm crying just from remembering this episode (it's been a couple of days since I actually saw it). Fucking wonderful.

i believe it's knives's influence. he's managed to convince them that there's no hope for humanity. probably not so hard to do on such a rough, harsh planet. he's created a cult, more or less. and i think knives's misanthropy is due partially to his harsh treatment by that dude back on the ship. also it might just partially be in his nature. however, he seemed happy and blissful with rem and vash at the very beginning of the flashback. so that dude must have been the catalyst. i dont think it's just his species though, as vash is obviously vastly different and completely empathetic to humans.

So he finally killed Legato. Now he really had to kill him. I guess Knives ultimate goal was to turn Vash into a monster. He really seem perturbed by what he did.

Wow what a show, the moment Vash pulled the trigger was by far the saddest moment in the anime because it went against everything he believes in. The episode was really good and it surprised me because i thought he would eventually kill only one person and that is knives.

Extremely annoyed at the insurance girls' roles as the series progressed. When they were first introduced, I had the impression that they were characters who could stand up for themselves and actually be strong, non-cliched heroines.

And then these girls as damsels in distress are what cause Vash to shoot Legato.

Bullshit. When was the last time Meryl effectively used her pistol? I could tell the girls were becoming more and more useless as the story progressed, but I didn't particularly care until this episode. I do think that Vash shooting Legato was a powerful and signficant moment, but it could've been done without the damsels in distress. I don't know if that was in the manga as well, but it's still a poor choice in the writing.
